Quoted from rotordave:

Happiness is a white car after 14 days of heavy rain and muddy driveways ...

Nice ride RD, I've been seriously considering upgrading from my IS350 to an RCF

#121 7 years ago
Quoted from rotordave:

I bought an IS-F new in 2009, trouble free for 7 years (like the other two lexus' I've had) I wasn't really in the market for a new car, I was just going to drive the IS-F forever, it was a sweet car.
But a sweet deal came up on the RC-F Carbon, it was owned for only 3 months before the guy traded it for an Audi R8. I negotiated 40% off the new sticker price, and I grabbed it. It'll do me for a long time.
rd

Nice job, that's a great purchase. I was looking for an IS-F but at the time I couldn't find the right combo of price and equipment and when I came across the right car in a 350 I jumped on it and like you didn't have a reason to let it go ... then the RC came out and I'm smitten, I will see how long I can hold out

I haven't owned anything but Toyota/Lexus since the 90's, my current pin hauler is a Tacoma Pre-runner and this is my toy toy '94 FZJ-80

Lifted, armored, locked front and rear, 12000lb winch, dual batteries with AC converter (runs an Engle fridge/freezer and crock-pot to make sure I eat well ) and tons of little mods/updates.
I did a custom 8 speaker 1200 watt Pioneer DVD sound system i-Pod inputs, with back-up and "belly" cameras to keep an eye on things.

For fuel I used to buy 55 gallon drums of jet 1a (or was it ll100?) and mix it with premium.
...

Probably 100LL which would work OK mixed with premium but not Jet 1A because is basically kerosene.

1979 Z28. Stock. 56k miles.

Sweet ride, one of the few American cars built after 73 that I would like to have. I never owned one but got to drive a bunch, love to mash the throttle to flip out the cold air intake flap
In 79, in my first "real" job after high school, I started working at a Mazda/Volvo dealership and I ended up doing a lot of work with aftermarket radio shops doing upgrades in new cars. I got to be good friends with a guy at the Panasonic dealer that had a 79 Z-28 4-spd in blue and he put this cockpit stereo between the t-tops

I wish I could find that car

Quoted from Fulltilt:

My '72 Swede. With the original Blaupunkt tunes.

As I mentioned above I worked at a Mazda/Volvo as a young guy and as I was reading back through the thread I couldn't believe I missed commenting about your 1800 (which is beautiful btw) and that got me to reminiscing about the fun toys that came through the shop. I remember a guy having an 1800ES in the same color that had a full IPD suspension kit as well as some engine mods but the coolest thing was a custom power sliding sunroof. The headroom sucked but it was a killer look, I really wonder what ever happened to that car.

#254 7 years ago
Quoted from Fulltilt:

I'd love to have seen that! I'm only 5'10" and there is little more than a couple inches headroom for me. Where in the heck would a power sunroof go??! I LOVE the folks that have made them into custom convertibles though.

I'm 6' and it was snug, the back seat was worse where it slid down and back but I don't think it really mattered.

I went on an internet quest and I think I actually found the car, 99% sure but it's been 30+ years and now it is in Nevada ... it must be the same one, the pic is exactly what I remember it looking like

That convertible is a sweet I have never seen that conversion, that is awesome looking.

Dang.... almost forgot about my '80 Fiesta! With the fancy louvered rear window.

My first wife had one in what seems like the same color (sort of a gold-ish color in your pics) when we were dating, it was the "S" model (which was probably just a decal ) the year I won Division Champ in my Mazda I blew out the tranny and was going to miss a race. I needed to score a couple points to guarantee the win so I took the Fiesta , pulled the airfilter and ran the back tires up to 50 psi and ran it against a guy (who was just behind me in the season points) with a modified Capri, he beat me in the last round but I had him in the first two runs and he couldn't believe it ... first gen Fiesta was a great little car.

Quoted from Pinzap:

Finally, just this summer, I was able to acquire another of my high-school dreams, although a much more recent model. Haven't tracked it yet, but am hoping to first thing in the spring once we thaw out from winter in about 5 months... supposed to be -25 tonight (yes, that's below zero, and yes in Fahrenheit - approx -31c for the rest of the world).

I spent an afternoon with a GT4 at the Porsche experience in ATL and it is one hell of car, congrats

Quoted from pinmister:

I have had a recent fascination with the late 80's early 90's Jeep Grand Wagoneer woody. A classic truck that would also make for a great pin-hauler...

I always loved them. My wife wants an Airstream and one of these would make a great tow vehicle.
Did you live in Littleton when Jerry Morris AMC Jeep had some stretch limo versions built?

I've been searching for a new ride for a while and finally pulled the trigger on a new Lexus GS 350 F-sport (had to work hard at ignoring the little voice in my head screaming " get the V-8" )

So that's what the slogan "you coulda had a V8" is all about!

LOL

The back of my Mazda RX-2, hard to read but next to where the plate goes says " Wow ... I could've had a V8 "

I finished the ToyBox( ie new garage) last summer but haven’t had any new toys to put inside, so even though spring isn’t here yet in an effort to plan ahead I bought something to fill the space and to play with when it gets warmer ( although today was awesome ) ...

Wow that turned out great-looks like it could also be turned into another nice arcade down the road-a carcade!

Thanks, it’s still a bit of a work in progress. Got the Racedeck installed yesterday(still need to trim out the sides), now I need the HVAC, ceiling and then the lift ( wife is trying to talk me out that one )

I love that color blue-probably one of my favorite colors. It looks stunning and I bet it turns a ton of heads.

Yeah the color is great, out of the 850 or so imported only 55 came in Shapphire Blue so it took a bit of hunting but I’m glad I waited until I found this one.

Well I have kinda given up on my dream car coming out-the new Toyota Supra. I was excited for the re-introduction of the Supra and was ready to pre-order one. Then I watched the development and decided it was not for me. It is basically a BMW sports car with paddle shifters and no option for a manual. I love Toyota's but the new Supra is just not exciting me any more. I guess they are doing a Super Bowl commercial for it-relating to pinball which is interesting. I imagine there will be lots of drifting going on.
I currently have two vehicles I am interested in. I still have an itch for a 2005-2007 Lotus Elise and I recently attended an RV show and found a campervan that was pretty cool and reminded me of a modern day Volkswagon bus. I want one
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

I’m with you on the Supra, was pretty stoked when it was announced but fell flat for me. That is a cool camper van!!

Quoted from pinmister:

That pop up looks interesting and I like the dinette location. I googled the price and that has to be one of the most expensive pop ups out there. We enjoy going to all the RV shows to see all the new innovations every year. Love the classic Cruiser that is built like a tank. Hoping the new one will be worthy. The wait list on the new one is crazy with the new pricing. I think they used to average around 4000 units a year before and now they will be all over the place like hotcakes. Love Land Cruisers-one of my favorite overall vehicles.

Yeah the list prices are crazy but there are deals to be had (still more than other pop-ups). We have always had pop-ups for easy of towing and storage but the hard sides are a big selling point ... no flapping canvas and in Yellowstone there are campgrounds that forbid soft sided trailers and that sold my wife.

Yeah, I'm a fan ... this is my 3rd Cruiser and had to keep the 80 series for hitting the tough trails. I saw both the new Lexus GX550 and LC (although die hard fans say it isn't really a Land Cruiser ) at the Loveland Overland Expo and there are some nice improvements, especially the powertrain... big fan of the LC hybrid system. I was really disappointed on the interior layout neither had truly flat floors when the seats are folded. Pricing is really competitive and it will be interesting to see what happens when they have been out for a while.

That's a lot of effort in a roof rack for a couple jerry cans. Looks cool though.

According to the guys at Blue chip the owner bought that car because the rack is hard to come by in the US
Too be fair it also carries some Maxtrax
