Cracking weather for a local motor show at the weekend, here is a very small selection of the cars on show. Some nice ones from your side of the pond

Yep, 170bhp and 600kg should be fun!

Quoted from Atari_Daze:That is AWESOME! My youngest just got a 2013 MINI, I'd prefer an original.
Thanks!
I had one for my first car and always wanted another so when this one came up for sale 5 mins from my house I couldn't say no.
My garage blew over a few weeks ago in 70mph winds, luckily my classic mini was at the blasters having all the rust removed.
I decided the quickest and easiest thing to do was knock half my side porch down so I could wheel the shell into my mancave through the back yard.
Luckily I chose one of the smallest cars ever made to restore!

Funnily enough he did give me tin of spare paint when I collected it on Saturday!
My engine is being shipped out this week.
1310cc
GT17 turbo on sidewinder manifold
It made 155hp and 145ftlb at 9psi on the dyno. To put that in perspective this engine and turbo combo will take around 20psi which will see well over 200hp/ftlb but I am happy with that power for a running in period until I turn up the boost.
Should be a lot of fun in a 1,300lb car!

With a very light foot! Ha-ha
It has a quaife atb differential which should help pulling it out the corners. Torque steer is going to be the main issue but the suspension is fully adjustable.
The shell is in the pin shed, not ideal but at least it is nice and dry and warm!

Thanks, it is a standard mini color called nightfire red.
If you're ever in the area of "Old" Jersey you're welcome to come and have a look!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jersey
Map of New Jersey and OLD JERSEY UK and USA (resized).jpgPicked up this air-cooled, rear-engine, Polish made, Fiat 126 at the weekend.
It's a non-runner at the moment and I am tempted to put in a Tesla small drive unit and a couple of Model X/S battery modules.
The original 650cc engine has a whopping 23hp where as the Tesla motor has a max power of 300hp!
IMG_20220219_105827 (resized).jpgIMG_20220219_124147 (resized).jpgIMG_20220219_124157 (resized).jpgSmall drive unit (resized).jpgQuoted from bob_e:I doubt is the chassis could handle the weight of the battery and the torque of the motor.
The motor weighs 200lbs and two battery modules would be 100lbs so not too bad.
Torque ramp can be adjusted in the ECU/BMS.
Quoted from bob_e:I think you dropped 1 zero. I did a search: 1,060 pounds for long range, 714 pounds standard pack Estimated/calculated from numbers below
The Standard Range version carries 2,976 cells arranged in 96 groups of 31. The Long Range version carries 4,416 cells arranged in 96 groups of 46, and weighs 1,060 pounds (480 kg) in a 0.40 m³ volume; a density of 150 Wh/kg.
Two battery modules, not packs, which would give roughly 30 mile range.
I live on a 9 x 5 mile island so range isn't really an issue!
New project has arrived!
Classic Mini Clubman Estate with only 24k miles.
Picked this up from a guy who bought this when he was 16, worked on it for a few years before moving away when he was 19 and it's been sat in his dads garage for the last 10+ years.
I'm up to three Mini's now, thank god for my very understanding wife!
Picture of what I'm hoping it will look like at the end.

Quoted from PlanetExpress:Awesome project! More importantly…. Does it fit a pin?
That is a good question, I will check once it's in the shed!
Quoted from Roostking:I mean, this would be cool too!

My other two minis are highly modified (one has a D16 Vtec engine with 130hp, the other a turbo engine with 185hp) so I want this one to be as close to factory as possible.
So yesterday I had a massive (mini) adventure!
I flew the redeye out to Heathrow, London then took three trains and a taxi to collect my turbocharged classic mini.
Then I had a 4 hour drive to Portsmouth followed by a 12 hour overnight ferry arriving back home at 7am this morning, almost exactly 24 hours after I left.
I probably don't need to tell any of you this but driving a classic mini for four hours on the motorway when you're 6'1" is like a slow form of torture.
So happy to finally have it home and it pulls like a train on boost!
155hp 145lbft 1350lbs

I am hoping to have it back in a couple of months but no rush.
We had a family outing to the local karting club meet on Sunday and I think I am going to be a few $$$ lighter soon as my eldest is 6!
It was nice to meet ex F1 and 24hrs Le Mans winner Derek Warwick there supporting his grandson, didn't manage to get a photo unfortunately...
