Quoted from Atari_Daze:About the only EVs I would currently endorse:[quoted image][quoted image]
I saw one of those new Mustang hatchback things yesterday. She was looking at my Hellcat with anger
Quoted from Shredso:Also, any tips for keeping the mice out?
This is part of my winter routine. I run a trickle charger out of it as well.
Have you looked into a car storage facility? A guy near me converted a warehouse into an indoor, climate controlled, parking lot. 24 hour access and he charges $150 per month.
17669 (resized).jpeg17670 (resized).jpeg17671 (resized).jpegQuoted from Bundy:Doesn’t the plastic trap moisture and make the car corrode or is it a temp/humidity-controlled space you have?
It is not a controlled space. I put silica desiccant packs into the "bag" to absorb moisture in case any gets in.
Zero issues last year. One of my biggest concerns is rodents.
I wanted the car capsule but it would be too tight in the bay that I use.
Quoted from Concretehardt:I keep my Mustang in a car capsule
Quoted from pinmister:Sports cars without a stick shift and turbo tend to have no soul for me.
So my supercharger is a no go for you?
Quoted from BudManPinFan:How do you get the car up on the stands? I always have a sore back after detailing my wheels and have been looking for a simple cost effective way to raise them.
Race ramps that were used via a floor jack. They aren't that cheap but are pretty awesome. Check out their website or I bought them from summit racing. They have all different types and sizes. I bought the 5 inch ones but should have bought at least 8 inch. So what you see are 2 sets of 5 inch ones since 1 set wasn't enough for what I want to do.
Or just sit on a bucket if it's just to get the wheels done
Quoted from Selig:My inherited ‘65 Cadillac DeVille convertible. My dad bought it from the original owner, a sweet old lady that rarely drove it, back in 1987. Just about to hit 60k miles. Fits in my garage with about 3 inches to spare. I remember riding around in it with my dad when I was a kid and now I get to drive my kids around in it. Floats like a boat down the road.

I love how you packed that beautiful car into your garage!
Quoted from Atari_Daze:Man, I can't even think back to 40K.
Still cleans up nice for an older girl. Ok well the OUTSIDE cleans up nice, dash could use a wipe down.
Wanted to get the photo at 88 mph and 88F but things didn't cooperate.
This car nearly got there .......+100

Quoted from cliff_clavin:No way! Really? 181 mph is pretty damn impressive for any non supercar. You gotta have some big cajones to drive that fast.
Still had some left but corners were coming and at 4400 pds it doesn't handle too well.
Quoted from Meegis:It gets scary up there. Fastest I've ever had one of my own cars was a modified b5 S4. Hit 184 mph and it was a bit floaty.
Though, I was in a world record holder (for a short time) Nissan GTR that hit 214 mph with me in the passenger seat. that was terrifying.
It doesn't really float but the air rushing under the hood was a bit scary the way if stated to shake.
214 is sick!
Quoted from bob_e:Last after 18 years of sitting I got the Malibu running. I soaked the cylinders with Marvel Mystery Oil, the next day I could turn the crank so I bought a battery and cranked her over for 5 minutes. I put the plugs back in and splash of gas a few times and she lit up. Next I bled the brakes. My goa; was to get it running and stopping so I can get a four post lift installed.

Very cool!
Quoted from pinmister:What's the deal with newer cars/trucks and the expensive windshield replacement? Seems like the newer models with radar devices located on upper windshield now have to be calibrated with the installation of a new windshield? I about fell over when they first quoted me a price of $1400 for a new windshield with calibration. Gone are the days of calling up your local windshield guy that comes to your driveway and installs a $250-$300 windshield. I am on my fourth windshield for my Taco and my second windshield on newer 4Runner. Here is some advice-don't buy into what some dealers and nationwide glass companies are selling. First of all, I have never had my four windshields 'calibrated' for my Taco. I signed a waiver and told them not to do calibration and guess what? The radar works just fine and calibration was not needed. After Safe-lite recently quoted me $1400 and said we have proprietary glass that we make ourselves- blah blah blah-you will not find a better deal anywhere else. I told them thank but no thanks(go pound sand) and I will go shop around. Found a place to do it for $740 including 'fake' calibration. Sorry for venting but I think a lot of people are getting bamboozled when it comes to windshield replacement. Don't get bamboozled
Interesting on the prices and what are they calibrating?
I have had to get one windshield in the past 2 decades and my insurance covered it without raising my rates.
Quoted from pinmister:I have a $1000 deductible with USAA but thinking about adding windshield coverage policy of some kind
Full glass coverage is generally cheap. Check it out
Quoted from pinmister:So I rented a red convertible Mustang while visiting California recently. I have to say it kinda grew on me. You know what I really liked? I really liked the heated seats. It was a bit humorous driving around California with the top down(kids wanted it down) while temperatures were mild. People looked at us like we were bananas and it actually was not that bad(we are from Colorado). Those heated seats kept my bum nice and toasty and really helped with the top down. Loved the rev of the V8-nothing like it. My main problem is the way I like to drive(corners at high speed). Sometimes driving the large platform cars like the Challenger feels a little too big to me compared to what I am used to driving. I did enjoy taking the traction control off with wet roads and feeling the roar of the V8(not sure the wife liked it-she kept screaming at me ).
I hear you about zipping around corners. An s5 was smoking me on some back roads one day but when we hit a straight away I blew his doors off, did a U turn and came back waving. I could see the smile on his face too. All in good fun.
I was in high school in the 80s. We could buy an old Skylark or Lemans or something with a 350 for $500. A set of headers, a 4 barrel and some rims got you a pretty cool car. My 1st car was a 73' Cutlass Supreme for $150 with a Rocket 350.
Guess I'm old. I hate letting the V8 go. I drive a midnight edition Silverado 1500 too.
Technology is amazing on some of these new cars but the throaty rumble of the v8 is just awesome!
Quoted from schudel5:Parked for the winter.

Is that your garage or basement? A friend of mine has a garage door for his basement. Dam cool
Quoted from pinmister:The black looks so good. I have only owned one black car/truck in my life. It was a new Toyota 4Runner and my OCD kicked in with trying to keep it clean without scratches. I ended up trading it in with low miles for a silver 4Runner-now I own a white one. I love black but I told myself the only way you can buy black again is if it is for a sports car that sits pampered in the garage not driven much. I would have to have it covered and wipe it with a diaper to avoid scratches. I do love black and think it looks the best.
I hear you. That's why I spent so much time on it. I had to do a paint correction and what not. I used 4 different applications to get it to look good. Still some swirl marks on the hood. I'm sure I'll be doing it again soon. My truck that I traded with 70k miles, also black, looked better than this one which only has 22k.
Quoted from Roostking:Why did you trade in the other truck?
I wanted a bit more luxury and a softer ride. My last 2 we're Z71s. Guess I'm getting old. Those street tires won't last though. I have found that I like Falken tires. Look forward to taking those car tires off and putting a middle of the road one on. Not too aggressive. Falken Wild Peak A/Ts are nice
Quoted from pinmister:I was taught young to respect things that you work hard for and that includes keeping them nice.
Exactly. Pinball machines included.
Quoted from Roostking:Yea, people seem to equate clean or neat, or maintained as OCD.
I think people just want to have a "problem" to tell people they have.
No, your not OCD, you just like shit clean.
That made me laugh. I do work at a psych hospital and have seen true ocd that you would not believe.
Quoted from Roostking:Thats diagnosed and cant imagine the difference between them and people that like stuff clea .. Most OCD sufferers are self diagnosed, and not really OCD.
People can have ocd tendencies
Quoted from MT45:Been on a
I’ve had so many projects for a while that I’ve forgotten about my Viper the last few years.
Got to work on the exhaust finally. Mounting a flex pipe as it keeps cracking all over the place.
Notice, it’s only mocked up at this moment.

The issue of having pinball machines in the workshop…
[quoted image]
Must be nice to be able to forget about a Viper
Beautiful car
Quoted from ViperTim:I’m guessing you meant to quote me.
Well my other projects aren’t as nice.
Building an engine for my ‘71 Ranchero, and rebuilding the engine for my ‘63 Austin A40.
Together with lots of pinball projects.
And building on my ‘88 Tbird
No I feel I’ve neglected the Viper too much lately. Way too many cars and projects…
Here’s 3 of the cars at least.

Is that a Trabant too?
Reminds me of this:
Screenshot_20230309_083149_Chrome (resized).jpgQuoted from Atari_Daze:Just finished building my custom 10" box for the A3. Powered by a Kicker 46CXA8001T, I must say it sounds (and feels) great.
Bass knob uses an ebay sourced Audi mirror knob to appear "factory".
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
That did come out great @Atari_Daze.
I moved my subwoofers so I could have a spare tire. Modern spare has tire kits with spacers for cars with wide tires.
I didn't build these boxes but the guy who did, did a great job for me.
HK Trunk Subs2 (resized).jpgIMG_2430 (resized).JPGIMG_2431 (resized).JPGIMG_2433 (resized).JPGQuoted from pinmister:I recently had a head shaking moment while watching the news.
Mercedes Benz is going to try and charge their patrons a monthly subscription fee for increased performance with their electric platform. Also heard about cars with electric heated seats installed from factory but you need to pay to use them? Are you freakin kidding me-Oh Vey!
https://www.entrepreneur.com/business-news/mercedes-will-charge-ev-owners-to-accelerate-faster/439775
That's insane.
Quoted from freddy:The mod business is good!
Haha. Only the older purple one is mine.
Quoted from Meegis:Just curious about the members in this thread....
At what point do you consider yourself more into pins or more into cars?
I'm contemplating a stupid purchase (I know it's purely a whim)
I just haven't created the mountain of the decision yet.
The money is a question, but not unattainable and no, there will be likely no return on value invested.
Just curious to what extent would you put yourself out to make a knowingly dumb purchase.
Sorry for the wordy ask, but really kind of wavering here and not sure what to do.
And for the non Canadians (most of you) keep in mind my purchase would likely be at retail plus shipping plus a 37% exchange rate and another 13% tax.
Ugh
You only love once. My wife and I only buy stuff we can afford and generally have only "good" debt.
Quoted from pinmister:So my buddy left me his new Tesla for a few weeks to drive while he is out of town. I thought I would be able to pull a Ferris Bueller with his new ride and do some real driving. Well he had a device put in from State Farm that tracks the way he drives including acceleration and braking to save on insurance premiums. Basically told me I have to drive it like a grandma-where is the fun in that?
Thanks a lot Jake from State Farm
