Bit the bullet and got my cars professionally detailed. I've been totally disappointed in "professional" details I've had in the past. It has always been a decent high priced car wash. This guy did a great job. Better than I have ever done on my own. The Traverse detail is a week old and has been rained on. Still looks great!

what's the going rate today ? $200 per car ?

#2606 2 years ago
Quoted from luch:

I paid $260 USD for the SUV. He initially quoted me I think $220 for the Vette but only charged me $160. Both cars were clean to start, maybe he gave me a break. He also offered a paint free dent service. I paid $200 to get 5 or 6 shopping cart type dents out and they are undetectable, at least for now. Full interior and exterior with a buff and wax. Also did the engine bay. I'm close to Boston so maybe you can find it cheaper outside of a big city.

All this go-fast hp talk.... but who can go the slowest? I am a big VW bus guy. 62 SO-33 Westfalia with a stock 40hp. First year of this camper model interior and original paint. Ordered with factory gas heater, locking steering column, and front seat belts. Ordered in Germany by a service member and then VW shipped it back to the USA for him. Original paint, colors, interior. Factory accesories include full length tent with privacy room, and hanging chandelier. Buzzez at 60mph and I'll still meet you at the next light.

Below is my 58 VW Binz, #181. ~500 Coachbuilt in Germany by a company named Binz using a standard VW truck and turned into a crew cab, about 35 left in existence. Also the nicest original paint one left. Suicide door and gas powered heater under the front seat. 36hp and likes 55mph.

Sad day for me. I had to sell my pride and joy, to help lean up our monthly budget for a new job that will not pay as well as my current employer does.
I will be much happier at my new job, but I will certainly miss the commute in the most favorite car that I’ve ever owned.
That being said, I will NOT miss people screwing with me on the roadways on a daily basis.
Tailgating me, revving their motor at a stoplight beside me or behind me, flying by at speeds double-digits over the posted limit…the list goes on.
Granted, if it was a muscle car or other hot sports car, okay…I’ll bite, let’s go. But 99% of the time, it was a soccer dad in a minivan or a kid in a ‘95 camry (no offense meant to the camry owners out there) or methed out dude in a clapped out pickup truck.
Farewell, my daily-drivin garage queen…I will miss you!

Do you consider yourself owning a SUV now or a hatch? My wife had an '02 Forester and she hated it when I called it a tall hatch. I didn't get the anger she would exhibit when I said that because it is what it is. Most SUV/CUV are tall hatches now. So lowering one gets into that territory. One of my past vehicles was a Subaru Crosstek and I had no problems telling people it was a lifted Imprezza. Don't know my point other than its a bit ironic seeing someone lower a SUV. Does look good though.

Call it whatever you want lol no anger to me.

I still call it an SUV, but it's now in oversized hatch territory. Or weird wagon.

I've never been an SUV person, and the stelvio from the factory rides WAY too high for my liking. So decided to make it more my own.

I bet it handles better.

Quoted from RyanStl:

Yes. It's a lot more level and turn in has eliminated pretty much all body roll.

However, this model has 4 suspension settings, which prior were already quite aggressive. So in the top mode (race) it can be a bit much for some that aren't used to lowered vehicles.

This is a totally innocent question with no ill intent. Why import a Lancer Evo? Does this have a spec you just can't get here without import? It looks cool, but I don't know enough to know if that is a kit on top of the Evo.

Those busses are great, what an amazing collection! For speed I am in the same category...I think I got the overdrive working on our 1950 Studebaker today, so I may be able to break past 50mph now, haha.

I considered putting an overdrive on my '47 CJ2a Willys, but then realized with the crappy 9" drum brakes that I have no business going over 45mph anyway.

It’s a 1996 EVO IV. They didn’t import the EVO into the US until the 2003 EVO VIII. This has only been legal to import for less than a year and there are likely only a handful of them in the entire country right now.

No it's actually an Everett-Morrison. I built it in 1995, it's been at a couple of Run and Gun events, road courses, run the quarter mile maybe 100 times, and has 101,000 miles on it today.

Been a fun ride so far.
