Another Alfa in the club
2015 4C LE #106
Manual steering, 21lb boost, 2300lbs, launch control, paddle shift, mid engine, racing mode
Just in time for summer[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

That is a great looking car!

Quoted from Bundy:

What does that mean? I steer all my cars manually.

No power steering, the 4c is pretty much a beautiful Italian high powered Kart, the driver definitely feels every bump and crevice in the road. The car was built for the track, there’s very little to add to the stock engine or suspension to upgrade. Better air cleaner, Intercooler, and a few modded computers will boost the hp from 260hp to 320hp

I had to lol at this part

"2015 4C LE #106"

I was like, are we still talking the car, or LE # 106 of some pinball machine!

I did the same, hahaha, the LE on this car stands for “launch edition”. But I thought it was funny when on the 4c forums that kept referring to the launch edition as LE, something familiar here! Must be fate

It may pale to some of the rides here, but here is my 08 Bullitt. Kind of a sleeper. She's at 525 hp at the crank. Steve McQueens spirit is under the hood.

My 2011 Challenger SRT-8 is on one more road trip before its 100,000 mile service. 392 HEMI 6 Speed is still running like a champ. Cruised to Cheyenne, Wy from Phoenix. The Challenger is an amazing road car!!

Quoted from Pinless:

That’s interesting, what term do you use for a rack and pinion that has no hydraulic or electric assist?
We’ve always called them manual steering racks.

My '74 VW Super Beetle had a steering gear with No power assist. My '80 VW Scirocco had Rack & Pinion steering with no power assist.
Both were considered "manual steering".

Got new front and rear glass with trim on my 70 Mustang, one piece headliner too. Now to install new Wilwood brakes on the front. New spindles too.

Cool! I grew up in an Olds family. Dad had the Cutlass and Mom drove the Delta 88 (early 60s through ‘81 when Mom bought her last new Oldsmobile).

Thanks for posting! I bad that same 1982 Ford Escort! Ugly as hell, but it started in -10 degree weather when no other car on the block would. 4 speed to boot.

Hey yeah I thought it was cool as I haven’t seen one of those POS since I was a kid. 7800 for that car in 82!

Edit: on the street is my 2019 Tahoe. The 3rd row seat lays flat, whereas in my old Tahoe the 3rd row had to be removed. The convenience is nice but it is at the expense of a few inches of clearance. I don't think a NIB would fit in the 2019 like it would in my old car.

Finally got this out of storage. It's getting a full service and a few bulletproofing upgrades, then I can hopefully hit the back roads.

My friend has a turbo'd s2k. It's insane.

jayhawkai - Nice Honda, I've got a 2000 S2000 myself. Who's the manufacturer of your hardtop?

#1831 4 years ago

Thanks. It basically has 3 somewhat expensive mods - Mugen hardtop, Volk CE-28 wheels, and Tein RA coilovers. If I found a deal on a super lightweight exhaust I might move on that just to save ~35 lbs. I also have a big brake kit for it, but it remains uninstalled since I've never taken it to the track.

Thought you guys might like this. Tested out a new runway last month in my 458 for an acceleration event we are putting on next year. 1.75 miles of pure acceleration! It doesn’t get any better than that. If you watch the vid link

in HD you can see me hit 191. My GT should be able to hit 245 there.

Nice cars (understatement). Apparently you agree with Henry Ford that you can have any color you want as long as it is black?

Thanks! Pins and cars are my personal issue! lol And yes I have had other colors but about 15 years ago when I wrapped my first GT in matte black ...cool time lapse vid of it here

I acknowledged that black is my favorite and stopped fighting it. I did have a pretty crazy dark metallic purple NSX back in the day. Fun car and probably my craziest color

I love the look of the GT’s both new and old. Sadly, even if I had the money I don’t think I could fit in one. To drive my mustang I had to fabricate a new seat mount and set it all the way back to where the back of the driver seat hits the arm rest of the rear seat.

I am 6’3 and it is comfortable for me fortunately. I have a friend who has one who is 6’8 and he had to mod the seat similar to what you did with your mustang. They also had a door conversion called a “gurney bubble” that made extra head room with a bubble in the drivers side roof. Personally didn’t love the look of that though.

200 mph and no helmet?

#1838 4 years ago

Never really been into cars, this is my third one ever. Just like motorcycles really.

Until i bought this Rampside.

Not too many of these in Australia i tell ya.,

My bikes are my love though, currently an XL250 new trail bike for exercise, my Rocker C that i've had since near new and customised a fair bit, a Ducati 1098 that i've had for 6 months and a Guzzi MKIV that i'e had for more than twenty years.

In the GT because it is twin turbo with over 1000rwhp we have full racing harnesses, helmets and fire suits. At most events if your car is stock like the 458 you are only required to wear helmets. Here is a vid I posted before in cabin doing over 240

Yes I bent the helmet rule for testing and I know it seems fast.....and it is but 191 in a 458 is like 85 to a normal car. It is smooth. It’s when you get well into the 200’s then things can get interesting depending on the weather conditions.

I have raced cars most of my life so i know what fast is and you were going way too fast to bend the rules. Not being a dick, just sayin.......

My thought after seeing that video was "I hope there is no debris on that runway." I once took my mustang up to 110 and the whole car started to shake. That was pretty scary. These days I just enjoy 0-60 acceleration off the occasional stoplight or 15-70 after a left turn assuming the road is empty.

The pins have been sitting idle. I haven't had time to play 1 game, the kids sports are overwhelming, in a good way. I'm glad they are active, and I'm glad we can afford to have them in club sports. The kids have lost interest in the game room so it's pretty much just me down here with 10 (working) games and a couple projects I don't have time for. I still really enjoy restoring games, especially left for dead or heavily routed garbage games. I still love playing the games when I can find the time, but I'll lock on to one or 2 games and play the crap out of them. 6 years ago I was brainstorming how I can fit more games and now I'm not sure why I need more than a few. Anyway, I've always wanted a Corvette, as long as I can remember. I've never actually driven one. I love the 70's Stingray. I'm thinking that may be a bad idea with no garage to work on the thing. Something newer and more reliable may be better for me. 2005 is the oldest body style I like, and they are somewhat affordable. Probably a lot more comfortable as well. I could dump 2 or 3 pins and end up with a small loan. Or I could dump 4 or 5 and pay for it outright. The concern is, I've rarely lost money on a pinball machine, most times, specially when routed games were abundant, I made a good chunk of change. I'll be turning all of that positive investment into something that is most definitely a negative investment. Another concern is storage. I'm in the Northeast, the best I can do is probably a car cover for the winter. My daily driver costs double what I'm going to spend on the Vette, and I'm not worried about garaging that. My last concern is turning my somewhat quiet game room investment into a fancy sports car. Most of the money that supports the game room came from the game room. The wife doesn't really know the difference between a handful of cheap games that I restored or repaired for profit to the collection I have now. Most of the cash has come from profit of flipping games, not the paycheck. Early 41 year old mid life crisis? Talk me out of ( or into) selling my games.

You are entitled to your opinion. 100% support different views. However I have been doing acceleration runs most of my life. I have 180 runs over 200mph and most over 230. All of these runs have been in a controlled environment. No highway runs at high speed which i would say is a total bonehead move. When I see that stuff it drives me crazy. The runways ....that we use at any rate ....are checked for debris before runs/events. We are using military length runways that are 12-15,000 feet long and 200 feet wide. We don’t run side by side.....which is extraordinarily dangerous. In my progression through cars over the years some are better suited to high speeds than others. I had a viper that got “light” around 165. Felt like a boat coming on plane. Same with a supercharged Vette I used to have. There is a huge difference in cars that are made to go 200+ from the factory. They are incredibly stable at speed. All cars get a thorough tech inspection. The biggest key to speed runs is tires. You need properly rated tires with not only good tread but also no older than 5 years from manufacture. You would be shocked at what people will show up with at these types of events. That and braking. Going fast is great but stopping is key.

I did drive a friends Mustang GT350R at an event. It did 174 and it felt pretty good.

On the selling the games front I think they are different animals cars and pins. You will not do as well with a car....I have only had one appreciate which was my GT..... but there is something to be said for pure driving bliss. The 05 vette you mentioned is a great reliable fun car that you can’t really go wrong buying. Best performance for the dollar out there. Find a good example and you should be able to drive it for awhile and not lose too much on it. I am lucky I live where the weather is always good. My 458 is my daily driver and it doesn’t see downtime in the winter. Still I don’t think you would regret the purchase. But if you did you could sell it and convert it back to pins in a year or so and not be much worse for the wear. I would take the chance on the car. Better to live your dream than wonder in my opinion.

No i wouldn't either. Ive seen some real dumbasses over the years and some extremely dangerous safety violations at the race tracks.

Ok, I'm hoping someone in this thread can help me out, so here's a shout out to all the old school Model A guys. I've been looking for an explosion whistle adapter, not the whistle itself (although I'd buy it too if I had too) because I already have the whistle, I just need the adapter. Now this is for a 1930 Model A, NOT a Model T which has a different size spark plug thread. The one in this picture is for a Model T, I bought it just so I can show people what it is I'm looking for and there readily available but the ones for a Model A are not. I've looked high and low but there has to be one out there that someone would be willing to part with. The Model A spark plug thread is 7/8" x 18. If anyone thinks they can help me out please let me know as I'm desperate.
Thanks,
John
