Anyone got a Gallardo?
Seems like $85K gets ya a 2006 & newer low mileage almost collector example all day long.
Forum folks say they're purdy damn reliable, well for what it is.
Appears there's a depreciation curve with exotics that's fairly predictible too. Almost seems like if you play your cards right you can buy one with minimal losses.

Get the VIN, if you are nice to the new car dealer they can check its repair and maintenance history. If it needs a major service, be prepared for a large bill, for a major service you might be able to buy a used 2007 Honda Accord with the same money, do your research. Like a Ferrari the value in the vehicle is its condition and service records. If you work on your own car, when working under it, or in the engine bay, keep some band aids handy, or get some thick mechanics gloves. The car has various sharp edges underneath.

I rented a brand new one (6 miles on the odometer) this past week in Reno. Quiet, comfortable, lots of torque, adequate acceleration for the heavy vehicle it is. Noticed they have an unusually high number of owners in most cases compared to normal cars. Even with low miles, clear records, etc.
Unsure if thats because one owner examples stay with collectors who have a fleet of ill shit & never sell or if enthusiasts sell to each other leaving the common man with multi owner dealer cars to buy or if buyers are such ballers they buy the new models every few years? Maybe folks sell to fund investments or resolve hardships since the cars bring in big money even after depreciation.

I have a friend that buys alot of new, low production exotics...he buys them, puts less than 100 miles on them, then sells them for a premium since most are unobtainable through normal channels. It helps he owns an exotic dealership so he avoids alot of the taxes, title and insurance fees. Quite a few celebrites come in and purchase.

I came out at $54k+ a few. Costliest otions included the Captain's Chairs package, cross bars, premium paint, illuminated kick plates (nice!) and the lighting package.

Maybe the fun and woah factor wears off when it is time to pay for insurance/service/gas etc.

I don't think Raptor buyers expect good gas mileage. Sort of part of the package. You cannot buy a V8 although Ford has rumored a 7.3 for 2020. As for V8 preference, turbo just one more component to wear out or fail. The V8 engines are work horses and damn near impossible to kill. Just a personal preference...no harm meant.

Austin is where we keep the libiots to keep them out of our hair. They do have good beer and BBQ however.
A V6 turbo has no place in a truck. Trucks need torque to pull shit, Turbo 6s are high end HP. Turbos die and are expensive, V8 grunt is cheaper. Ill take a V8 all day long.

As a turbo owner, I have to disagree. One of the biggest benefits of the turbos are the crazy amount of torque in the low RPM range along with reasonable gas mileage for everyday driving. Here's Road & Track putting the Raptor V6T against the older V8:

They could but for one that turbo 6 is going to require more expensive repairs that will have to be taken to ford to be done. People love all that high tech shit till it breaks and it isn’t under warranty then it costs a fortune to repair. I owned a zr1 corvette, never again. My Bette now is a 99 FRC with one powere seat. None of that high tech shit to break. And, with a cam, custom heads and a blower pushing 12 PSI it has more HP than the ZO6

Soo I'm confused. Are you pro v8, or no? I know that the eco boosts from a couple of years ago had issues at around 100,000 miles.

Yes. I am pro pushrod V8. High tech is expensive and delicate. I am no mechanic or engineer, I have just been around cars my whole life. I have seen OHC engines and turbo 6s and all the other shot come and go hit the pushrod V8 always outlasts them all.

My first truck/car was a 1970ish crap brown Datsun pup... 4 cyl gutless wonder.
It fell apart; so I got a 1980ish Nissan (IIRC) p'up. Still a 4 cyl gutless wonder.
I drove a Izusu 4cyl through-out college and for the first 4 years of my professional career. I finally donated it when I got my first new V6 Dakota. Compared to those gutless wonders the Dakota and now the Raptor are worlds better.
Do I care that it's not a V8; not really because unlike a collector's item that's going to sit in my Garage … this Raptor is my daily driver. I actually DO care about gas mileage. I know it seems silly to a lot of you; but I'd blaspheme the Car heads here for a detune of the twin Turbo V6 in my raptor to gain another 5 - 10 MPG like the original eco boost in the stock F150s. I'm also going to consider Street Tires when the stock offroad tires wear out... ESP if it helps with MPG and for me to remove the speed governor.

I had an Izuzu I-Mark diesel in college before I totaled it. That SOB would lose speed on an uphill road. Have to do 60 down, to make it to 45 up. But, I was happy to have anything.
Not a V6 hater....Loved my 3.8 in my GN and 4.3 in my Syclone. Have a twin turbo six in my QV now. But for a big truck, I just prefer a V8.

The difference in mpg between the 6.2L and Ecoboost Raptors isn’t as big as you’d think. Maybe 2 mpg on a good day.
The factory KO2 tires are good up to 112 mph. Not sure I’d ever want to exceed that with any tires.
Really? I thought the regular eco boost was like 24 mpg on the highway.

I was referring to the mpg difference between the Gen 1 and Gen 2 Raptors. The 6.2L Gen 1’s are getting 14-16 mpg, and like you mentioned the Gen 2 is 14-18.
Well I got my flares painted and on a few weeks ago and finally got the side mouldings painted and installed yesterday 
So in theory I'm done painting on the truck so now I'm working on getting the new stereo installed.

he also collected extra parts that will go with the car - they include and engine and tranny - doors and lots of other stuff. also has an extra battery. please don't think he has all these parts because he needed them - the car is original - he was just a nut case and bought the stuff in case he ever needed them. i would also trade it for pins. i am taking off seat covers this week to see what the seats look like. car runs great as i drove it home. no rot - looks sharp - has 2 small indentations on the hood and the top of the back seats look like the sun got them a little too much. only negatives i can see. i know it was well maintained as he loved this car. that's all the sister would talk about is how much he loved it.

Yes. I’m importing it. I just bought it at auction about two weeks ago. I imported my Cappuccino a year and a half ago and the process was quite easy.
