I have friends that do this. They swear by it. Here’s my take on it: you still need to put it on regularly, your body shop needs to know if it’s been done as it works well enough that it can penetrate down in and through the paint. The paint won’t stick unless they’re taking it down to the metal/foundation. Scuffing, sealing, and painting will lead to the paint coming right off or not sticking at all.
The results are great and looks to hold up. Water just falls off even on horizontal surfaces. Just know that you can still get chips and dents as it can’t prevent that. If you have a new car and don’t mind spending the money for a proper paint correction and for the application every other year or so, I’d say do it. I’d avoid it if you have a typical American paint job with the typical orange peel or a car that already has some minor paint chips that correction can’t fix. It will look best on a good paint/paint correction usually on a German or Japanese car.

Good info...I have a new to me Alfa QV that I'm considerin gn it on. But it's already got 5k miles from previous owner. Paint still looks fantastic so not sure how much correction it would need. Does the ceramic applyer usually do the prep or do you need a separate detailer?

All collectibles go through this phase, a bubble. Cards, comics, toys. The auctions are driving up prices but doubtful it will sustain.
IMO buy a car to drive and enjoy. Presume it can be liquid but not at any dependable value, and in most cases, never at a higher value than when you bought it.
That said, market prices are a reality. I bought my most recent project because I felt like if I waited much longer, I'd be priced out. Already asking prices are 1-2 more in 6 months. Are they worth it, probably not, but those owners are sitting and waiting trying to 'get in' on the rush.

I agree. Problem is, we may not even have easy access to gas, so our cars will be monuments to a better time. Also, back in the day hardly anybody thought about future collectibilty. Nowadays half the buyers of "limited cars" store them for future collectibilty. Bless their hearts, but I'm a driver, not a looker. I wouldn't save my gf for the next guy, why would I my car?

Someday, I'd have to drive mine, no trailer and nothing to pull the trailer with AND it's no where near ready. I told them to repaint all the satin black parts in the pictures a page or two back to semi gloss, satin was just to much of a contrast with the gloss on the body. Sooooo it'll take even longer now to get it back, maybe end of summer.

To still keep it factory I added the FRPP "KR kit" from Ford Racing Performance Products (cold air intake, less restrictive exhaust and reflashed computer program from the 540HP 2008 GT500KR which otherwise has the exact same engine as the '08 GT500).

All 2008 to 2014 GT500s are supercharged, not turbocharged. My naturally aspirated 2013 Boss 302 is incredibly fun to drive.
Just added a 997.2 911 turbo with a fairly rare build, HRE forged wheels and Fabspeed quad tip exhaust.
Regarding ceramic coatings, I can add some first hand info... I just had the car covered with Stek DynoShield PPF and coated with CQuartz Finest Reserve. This includes removing the wheels, cleaning the barrels and calipers followed by a coating applied to all surfaces. It takes about 10-14 days for the coating to fully cure (even though it was IR lamp baked), but the gloss is amazing. Gets glossier every day.
Took it back to my detailer because he jokingly said he could 'kick it up a notch.' Took it to a local PCA event and re-coated it with an additional ceramic coating enhancement that makes it look wet when in the sun.
The benefits of a ceramic coating are wash times are significantly reduced. Water literally sheets off the car, no need to wax for the next 4-5 years and the product is backed by a warranty. While the ceramic coating doesn't really protect against rock chips, this is where the self healing PPF shines.
If you're on the fence about PPF/ceramic coatings, it's kind of like insurance. Offers peace of mind, ease of use and pride in ownership. Just don't expect to recoup your money back on resale.

I have several friends who are ready to fight it out with a choice of weapons if I ever decide to sell due to the fact that she’s been garage kept since new,never been driven by a woman or young adult and has depreciated to a low value but is still in like new condition. I went looking at the 2017 model last year and sticker price was almost $80K. Only major option they’ve added in almost 20 years is adjustable air ride. My grandfather would be angry hearing me say it but it’s true...the japs build a real solid truck that’s much higher quality than the Ford Explorer I owned prior to this!
Love it. This is my daily driver, although I have a 2002; same color.
BTW, the AHC system was available at a point in time for the 100 series. It was standard on the LX470. Toyota does not allow any options on the 200 series Land Cruisers. You don't want DVD screens on backseats...too bad...you don't want powered rear seats...too bad..you don't want navigation...too bad, etc. Hence, the 85k price tag because it is all or nothing.
The Land Cruiser has always, I mean always been higher quality than any Ford Explorer or any other SUV for sale, ever.

I picked up a complete 06 cab that came from Tx and a take off 11 bed. I'm going to put an 06 Harley edition grill and headlights on it and will be using the 06 int. So for well under $10,000 I can have a slightly updated int and a rust free body with out the big payments which leaves me more money for pinball.
Just pick up this gem of a survivor.

Put an inline fuel filter in. You'll be sucking sediment forever from the tank on a car that sat that long. Nice find!!!
