I think the Laguna Seca drives better than the new GT with the track pack. The handling is just a bit off in those cars.

The GT350 and R remain on another level.

Met up with my little brother for dinner last night. He works for JLR and is currently testing out another prototype - the all-electric I PACE, to be introduced as a 2019 model. I'm not about electric cars at all but this is pretty impressive. Apparently it outperforms the Tesla P100D in acceleration AND braking, if you asks me looks way better, and is about half the price.

While the point is taken you can google 2019 I PACE and you'll see it starts at around $69K up to $80K for the top trim level, while the P100D is about $140K. You'll see pictures too, and can make up your own mind on the looks.

Cool vid, you did a good job. That looks almost like every Friday evening in North St Paul, Minnesota during the summer, just 7 miles away from me. I can't wait to drive my Mustang there, it will be the only car like it....set up for road racing but still street driveable.

This is my 1999 TOYOTA Landcruiser that I bought new. Her nickname is “Old Blue”.
I have several friends who are ready to fight it out with a choice of weapons if I ever decide to sell due to the fact that she’s been garage kept since new, never been driven by a woman or young adult and has depreciated to a low value but is still in like new condition. I went looking at the 2017 model last year and sticker price was almost $80K. Only major option they’ve added in almost 20 years is adjustable air ride. My grandfather would be angry hearing me say it but it’s true...the japs build a real solid truck that’s much higher quality than the Ford Explorer I owned prior to this!

For the SJW's out there: if it would have been driven by a woman, would it help or hurt the resale value? I can't find anything aboot that in Edmunds or Kelly Blue Book.

#1323 5 years ago

Ford explorers were the model t of the suv category and also one of the first out there. When I got my green Eddie Bauer 1991 explorer people would stop me in parking lots and ask me what it was. There was only really full size ford Broncos and Chevy blazers before that. I had a 1986 bronco with captains chairs and center console before the explorer and it was like a family room on wheels but sure was a gas hog!!!

Some women and especially young drivers beat the shit out of vehicles.
Saw a lady driving down the road last month with a full size orange construction cone wedged under her vehicle. You hear a funny noise or smell burning rubber? Nope just keep driving! Also saw a woman driving about 6 weeks ago on a dead flat front tire. She was doing 35 mph like nothing was wrong. How many guys would do that????

Looks like a real cool ride Mustang Paul, that show is about as big as they get in this country, and it's about a 1000 mile round trip each year.
I'm going to see some of the USA car scene next year, as we are planning a trip to L.a. to visit a good buddy of mine who moved there 5 years ago, he cas a cool plymouth cuda at the mo....

Well thanks, many people 37 years ago (when that picture was taken) didn't know what kind of car it was. When I get it back on the road this summer MOST people won't know what kind of car it is. It mostly looks the same now just better.

Anybody read Japanese? The first time I raced my Mustang on the salt flats was in 1990 at the 42nd Speed Week the Japanese brought 3 cars over for the event. The photographer for the Japanese mag OPTION was with them to capture the event and write an article about them. We got to talk with them (as best we could LOL) quite a bit and they took our picture and got my name and address. A couple months later this showed up in the mail, I was excited to see that they remembered me and the Mustang. I found the article (and of course I couldn't read a word) but it was fun just looking at the pictures. When I got to the main 2 page spread picture I just about shit my pants, there was the picture they took of me (the guy on the right) and my crew holding their OPTION mag sticker. WOW!!! Soooo many memories with my Mustang over the past 48 years.

Something different. This my pinball mover a Holden Commodore Ute, Redline edition running a 6.2 litre (304 kW) petrol V8.

Sadly this model (VF Series 2, 2016) was the last of locally built Australian cars which Holden producing their first car in 1948.

I'm liquidating some of my collection. Too much time to keep them maintained and clean. I was up to 11 vehicles at one time.

I will be looking for a nice performing DD in the near future. Don't want to go 100K for a Tesla Model S, but thinking something in the 50K range. I'm already set for Trucks/SUVs, so either a roomy 2 door, or 4 door. I don't like driving what everybody else has, so no mustangs, chargers, challengers or cameros. All nice cars but I see them every other stoplight. So what say you guys/gals? (note, already have a Genesis).

Subie WRX STI Limited?
Honda Type R?
Alfa Romeo (would love a 4c, but too $$)
Nissan Maxima (strangely don't see those too much anymore)
Hold out for the 2019 Supra?
Maserati?

Or as we know it here in the U.S., a Ute version of the Chevrolet SS or Pontiac G8

If you were considering a Tesla S but for the price, scroll back up a little bit and see the pic I posted of the 2019 Jaguar I PACE. Serious competition for the Tesla, and IMO a better looking car, and considerably cheaper. It will start at around $69K though.

I'd skip the Alfa and Maserati if you actually want to own a car you can drive.

I had looked at the I pace when you posted a few days ago bit a quick glance it appeared to be a crossover suv. Looking for a sport sedan or coupe.

#1340 5 years ago

Understood. The lines are a little blurred between sport sedan and crossover at this point; the ones with the lower roof and window profile like the I PACE look more like a sedan, to me.

Didn't you have a GN that is conspicuously missing from your list, or am I confusing you with someone else? We are up to 8 cars, just picked up an Acura RLX sport hybrid last week for a daily driver. Lots of room, the 3 electric motors add a lot of torque to the 310 HP V6, and it gets a little less than 30 mpg in both city and highway. In the fun to drive category, I like our Lexus RCF. Very comfortable, 470 horse and you rarely see any others on the road. The most fun one we have is the '89 Turbo Trans Am which is really fun to drive, but even when new the T-top cars were not fully water tight and they are pretty rough by today's standards.

I ordered a limited edition '76 Trans Am (black with gold pinstriping and the giant bird decal on the hood) with the first factory T-tops (installed by Hurst Performance in Brighton, Michigan) ever put in a Firebird (or Camaro) and they were definitely not water tight back then, either.

Yes, I have the Syclone, GN, Marauder, Dakota Vert, etc.....

Syclone is sold pending pickup Saturday, and someone is interested in the GN.

The RC F is a definite contender. Exactly the parameters I'm looking for. $64K is a little stretch but doable.

Edit: And RR Racing makes a supercharger for it

I've got way too many "gone but not forgotten" to post here and don't have pictures of many of them, but this little '83 BMW 635csi gray market car was a lot of fun. Euro model, speedo in km/h, headlight wipers, way better looking bumpers (no accordion rubber of the U.S. models), and I do believe higher HP engine than the U.S. model. Not sure why I thought about this car today. Bought it in GA and drove it home to TX; pics are seller's. This was my second 6 and my last BMW; only took me 2 times to learn that lesson!

Previous 6 was a '78 633csi that someone tried half-heartedly to fake an M6 out of which is kinda pathetic. But I sold it like that before doing an un-convert. I did pull the M6 badge off the trunk and install the correct badging, though. Pics from so long ago I think they were taken on my 1.2mp Kodak d-cam!
