Quoted from sohchx:So has anyone seen the Eclipse today?? I was lucky enough get a photo of it
Just like an eclipse to show up with a lot of bluster and then take forever to be less than impressive. When I drove a 5.0 Mustang back in the day, these things were like a plague and EVERY ONE wanted to race at any light. Even when my car was stock they weren't ever a threat. I could never understand if it was they 'seemed' faster than most or if their owners were.. well challenged. I have to presume if its damage maybe from making 'blow off' sounds of their own after each shift, and depriving themselves of much needed o2 to their brains.
bbbbbbbreeeeeeeeeeeeeeep...phsssss..brreeeeepp..preeebbbbbreeeb (missed shift) phsssss..
I will give credit to a wicked quick Lancer at the drag races this weekend. It was a genuine monster and looked like a light tuner at best. You wouldn't be surprised if you heard it running, but parked, you wouldn't think it had 30k in parts under the hood. It ran 8.5sec at altitude, so at sea level a high 7sec car (if it could hook up)

This is the best I could do before the clouds moved in.
Actually, my uncle took this shot some years back. He worked for NASA and part of his job was traveling around the world to observe, and record data on solar eclipses.
Quoted from vicjw66:I gotcha beat.
WOW that's a perfect exposure. He REALLY knew what he was doing.

that has to be the most amazing photo of totality I've seen yet! Nice work vicjw66.

AAA! They saved my daughter twice this year so far.
There's always time to watch Running On Empty and if you like obscure Australian car films, have you seen Midnite Spares?

Running on Empty ... that brings back some memories! I havent watched that for like 30 years!
blue95 Isn't that the one where the teenager has the Holden panel van and his mates are giving him grief about it, and he says "just you wait till I get it hopping!!" ?
Every time we went around to someone's place and they were working on a car, we would say "just you wait till I get it hopping!!" in a really bad Aussie accent. We still say it today ... 30 years later ...

Congrats!
Love the hood on the Challenger too

Thanks guys, it won't be staying a grampa truck forever lol, but it's should serve me well for many years.
Nice hoodspotting too. That is a 1 of 5 Carbon fiber hoods in that model and really works well with the Toxic Orange paint.

Is this you?
Thought that hood looked familiar.
Speedlogix is 20 min from my house. I have probably covered a few of their mortgage payments with all the suspension work I have done to my Challenger.
Quoted from MattS:Is this you?
Digging your SRT Challenger too, awesome cars aren't they! 70,000 miles and running strong!
Quoted from ASOA:This is my pin hauler. 700hp Black Ops Tactical F150. Reinforced military steel front and back. Pins get delivered safe and sound every time.
That's awesome....never heard of these. More info?

I love it, only have 15k on mine. Looking forward to the next track night.
While not technically a car, the idiots at my work are bound and determined to waste as much money as possible. We can get small vans like the Ford transit or Nissan nv200 on contract for $14,000. Those are not green enough so we buy these at $20,002. They are always broke down with problems and good luck when it's cold out.
Ford makes what is called a Black Ops Edition of there F150 F250 and F350. I had this one custom built by them off the platinum level truck. Then we really went to work. Beefed up the suspension. Engine got the ROUSH Super Charger. Front and Rear all steel tactical bumpers. Gun Safes for Assault Rifles and Gun Safe for Hand Guns. 12,000 pound winch and Lots of other features to long to list. Best part is the all glass panoramic roof and heated and cooled massaging seats. I know very expensive toy. imagine how many more pins I could have owned if I did not get this BEAST.
I love it consider myself very fortunate to own it. This thing gets so many looks. Photo op every time it is in a parking lot. I like that other people enjoy it as I do.

I think penis enlargement surgery would have been cheaper.

Do you drive that hokey little van on the road?
I tried to go in for a reduction surgery but I do not like needles. My poor wife will have to deal with that BEAST as well.

Awesome pic! I'd like to get into some handling stuff like that, what are some mods you have done? Not trying to get crazy, but basics to keep the car running and stopping lol
Quoted from blue95:Do you drive that hokey little van on the road?
I won't. I still have a full size ford van. When "real" vans have to be replaced expect a cart. If I even hear a squeak I write a w/o for the mechanics.

Billet adjustable upper and lower control arms, K&W springs with adjustable ride height, bigger sway bars and billet end links, billet trailing arms, solid cradle mounts, weld in subframe connectors, tuned PCM, Hawk performance brake pads, DOT 4 brake fluid and more.
If you want the most bang for your buck, just do the weld in subframe connectors. Turns it into a completely different car handling wise without sacrificing ride quality. They tuck up tight and don't effect ground clearance.
Quoted from MattS:subframe connectors
I'll second that, and they keep the body in tact. Way back in the day when my friends and I all drove built Fox 5 liters on and off track, we were hanging out at a friends apartment before Friday Night Drags. From the 2nd story we were looking down at our line up and noticed the cars without subframe connectors were all cracking at the peak of the a-piller and windshield on the passenger side.
It was fun to see confirmation that we were doing it right, having fun with those cars. Glad to see the mopar guys doing the same these days.

I had a 91' LX 5.0 years ago, what a fun car! In that one all I did was change the old, worn out rubber bushings to urethane, man what a difference on the track. Weld in parts were out of reach for me back then.
The handling of the stock SRT is really good, especially considering the Challenger is a tank at well over 4000 pounds. Anything that can be done to stiffen it up is good assuming you want more than the stock handling.
I just love the classic muscle car looks. The new Camaros, Mustangs, and Corvettes are better handling out of the box but their looks don't do it for me personally.
