Nope.. but last year he did pair overseas peeps together, Canadian peeps separately and 'mericans together to save on shipping fees! You don't necessarily get EM or SS gifts.. it's x-mas.. u git whatcha git! Gotta do some research on your person!!

You stalk their Pinside profile and see what they've talked about to see what they like and dislike. Most people use the same username in other places, so use that to your advantage too. The first year, I don't think I bought anything pinball related for my SS -- instead, bought the person stuff related to their favorite movie. And that first year, my SS made me a cool shirt with my name on the breast pocket and fun pinball terms on the back - people always come up and comment about it when I wear it at a pinball place. Nothing to do with EM vs SS -- you don't have to buy pinball parts. 
EDIT: "Stalking" sounds bad, but I use that term because my wife said that's what I did to my first SS.

Shipping fees might scare the gifter
The man organizing it matches up by country for shipping. Canada for Canada, USA for USA, Europe for Europe, etc. etc. Contact the OP for more info if there is a problem for you.

Yes, I definitely try to keep it that way as much as possible to prevent shipping from getting out of control. For instance, I just shipped a 10oz box that had 100 trading cards in it to Great Britain and it was $24, so you can imagine that gift money could get eaten up quickly with international shipping.
I just sent out an e-mail to everyone who participated in 2018. Of course, right after sending I see in the title it says the deadline is 11/5 instead of 11/15 
but at least the date is right in the e-mail content.
It went out to everyone, so as the e-mail states, if you have already signed up, no need to do anything, just ignore it. We're up to 108 now too.
