Perhaps the government printing trillions of dollars causing severe inflation across the board has something to do with it.
WTF is up with all prices of everything.....It's called Greed and it's everywhere ......and has been since the start of humanity....that is why we are doomed

Unfortunately, this thread probably won't get the traction or discussion that you were hoping for. This subject has been widely and frequently discussed on the forums. Various dedicated threads, ad threads, regional threads, new game threads....
Bottom line is that prices are up, and some of those prices seem completely bonkers.
Just the other day, I saw a thread on a $7400 working TAF project, and a few people saying "good price" for being a bargain in today's market. That strikes me a crazy considering for how long TAF hovered around $5k, and anyone who asked slightly more than that for an exceptionally nice game got flamed for even thinking about asking more.
Now a nice restored TAF is going for, what, $10k+? Crazy.
It's not just pinball, it's all expensive luxury goods
Porsche's, Rolex's, $10,000 handbags - stores can't keep any luxury item in stock
It's a combo of:
too much money flooded into the economy
+
people not spending money on vacations and other experiences
+
mile high stock market
+
lack of workforce to produce goods
+
supply chain issues
Quoted from BMore-Pinball:Stores can't keep any luxury item in stock.
High end stores in Chicago sure can't. Just google any one of these topics:
Chicago burglars target a string of upscale retail stores...
Neiman Marcus, GameStop in Chicago struck by thieves...
$120,000 of Louis Vuitton merchandise stolen from Chicago...
Burglars loot Magnificent Mile Burberry store twice in 3 days.
Brazen smash-and-grab suspects loot Chicago exotic car dealership...
Nordstrom Latest Hit by Flash Mob Robberies...
Looters vandalize high end stores in Chicago's Magnificent Mile...

yeah ... that's a whole different sad situation that we are not allowed to discuss on pinside
Quoted from Crispin:Somewhere Levi's stomach just turned.
At this point all I can do is point and laugh.
Everybody else is as sick of these threads as I was a year ago, so I let the troops do the heavy lifting these days.
Quoted from Monk:It's my fault for clicking on it.
It's your fault that I clicked on it too! Damn you!
Look at it this way. Machines that would have been previously pushed off a tall building, left to rot in a container, forgotten in a leaky warehouse are now being dug out and repaired or restored so they can be played again.
To prove prices have not gone crazy, I will sell my Deadpool Pro for $20,000 (cash on the glass obviously). If I have any takers, I will agree that prices have gone crazy. Act fast because if it doesn't leave soon I'll just keep it.
It’s only going to get worse, there is a huge fertilizer shortage which is going to affect crops of all sorts and cause a food shortage and anything else related to corn, soybeans, hay etc.
Quoted from EJS:This is why I am planing to do trades in the not too distant future.
We are already seeing this. Everybody offers up their game for trade, along with an outrageous price.
But then it sells for the outrageous price and everybody freaks out.
I think it’s pretty hilarious.
Quoted from snakesnsparklers:Poor pinsanity
You know you've made it in this hobby when you get your own dedicated thread.
Quoted from ForceFlow:Now a nice restored TAF is going for, what, $10k+? Crazy.
I sold my HEP TAF for more than that last year. I miss it but I am putting the money towards an MMR or AFMR.

Well, HEPs are in a class all on their own.
Quoted from insight75:Imagine the reaction if pin prices completely tanked?
Not sure the pinside server could stand that
Quoted from insight75:Imagine the reaction if pin prices completely tanked?
it would be the same reaction when the guy with the 69 camero with a tree growing thru the hood realized the tree was worth more then the car....priceless
The rich have discovered pinball and will slowly push out all the average people. I am enjoying the surge in barcades which is in my opinion temporary. Eventually ops will sell to rich collectors and the barcades will fold. But for now anyway, we are lucky in my area to be able to play every new title for very fair cost.

I want to know who is hording all of the cheap ramen noodles. They are hard to find right now.
