There are pins that I sold thinking "I can always buy it again if I want it back". Then pinflation ran wild and I can no longer justify that thinking. My GB pro is now too expensive for me to justify buying back and being able to afford a small yet diverse collection. Funds are limited.

With that in mind, what are the pins you are like "why the hell did I sell that!" The ones you miss, the ones you could take or leave, (indifferent) and the ones you don't miss. And the ones that can kiss your ass (never again).

    I'll start.

    1. Black Rose. Kiss my ass.
    2. Independence Day. Miss it
    3. Who dunnit. Miss it.
    4. Stargate. Miss it
    5. Twilight zone. Why the hell did I sell that!
    6. Star gazer. Indifferent
    7. Meteor. Indifferent
    8. Bride of Pinbot. Miss it
    9. Jungle Lord. Indifferent
    10. Gorgar. Indifferent
    11. Freddy, nightmare on elm street. Indifferent
    12. Firepower. Indifferent
    13. Demo man. Indifferent
    14. Addams Family. WHY THE HELL DID I SELL THAT. FUCK!!
    15. Strange science. Kiss my ass
    16. F-14 tomcat. Kiss my ass
    17. Twister. Indifferent but can kiss my ass.
    18. Ghost Busters. Why the hell did I sell that!
    19. Pinbot. Indifferent.

What are your feelings on games you've sold?

The ones I have sold, the ones I still have.

Can't see myself buying it for how much they are asking for the remakes. Had the nice butter edition too.

You would have had to rent a 60,000 sq. foot warehouse!

    PinBot - Miss It
    Earthshaker - Don’t miss it
DE Jurassic Park - kinda miss it??
STTNG - miss it but what a pain in the ass to maintain

Pack em and stack em........LOL. No, not really. With 600 games sold off it's probably more around 15,000 sq. feet. Still a good size though.

Hmm.. For me, I've learned that it is not so much the pinflation, since any monetary sales have gone directly back into pinball, which buys whatever it was worth at that time.

My issue is that I have found no two pinballs play exactly alike. So I know that I will never get to experience some of the real gems I have had, despite finding nicer examples which was my thought to move them along at the time :/

All that said, I've had some great titles that have been hit with pinflation.. but no regrets since they helped me accumulate what I have today on a meager budget!

Ok, but you didn't specify each game individually. See the criteria in the OP

Sorry, I should have been more clear, that with my response.
    - Indifferent to all -

For example, I loved my first Cheetah, but it was traded for a nice T3, which in turn became part of the funding for my BK-SOR. I am glad to have my SOR, so I can't really say I miss or wish I had not traded my first cheetah, since I'd do that again

    Fair enough.

I guess I should have been more clear. The ones you miss but can't justify buying back because of pinflation would be " why the hell did I sell that!"

Black Rose should be a $2.5 K game tops. Ugly ass man-woman on the translite should have tipped me off.

Yeah, I mean, you had a TZ and TAF, that's amazing.. but at any point in pinball, these were always desirable titles, and would command 2x - 3x value of any machine... so in a way, the pinflation ratio is still about right, and they are high enough production that you can still find a decent deal now and then.

If your money stayed in pinball, it should be enough to get it back, or close to it.

Some titles have shot up as if it is bizzaro land.. like BTTF... but the good part is, we'd have no reason to buy it back. lol

I owned part of a Kingpin. Only pin I miss.

I did all of my buying and selling decades ago when prices were cheap. Drive home with a game for 50, 100, 200, 500 bucks. Or a super nice TZ for 1800, something like that. Only ones I really really REALLY miss are a handful of EM titles I kept for a long long time but I figure hey I got my fun out of them. The ones I think I miss that I only kept for a few years, I figure if I had them back even at a phenomenal price I'd find out I'd been looking back at them with rose-colored glasses on. Other than that. back then I didn't give a rat's ass about how much a game cost me or what I sold it for, I was only obsessed with pinball as a hobby and not an investment. Had about 70 machines but have almost zero memory of what I paid or sold them for.

Scared Stiff. Goodbye forever and stay out.
    Dungeons and Dragons. Miss it.
Revenge from Mars. Better home now. Don’t miss.
Most others can’t remember so don’t miss.

Curious why Scared Stiff was a "kiss my ass" title? It seems revered by so many.

    There are no wrong answers.

Miss: JM, NBAFB, WD, GOTG, SStation, AS
Miss less: IM, RCT, NGG, AC/DC, TOM, Houdini, TF

All were pretty decent. Some of them really good, but just played too much.

Yeah that's a great sign that I definitely do not miss one. Be flipping thru the internet, see a game and go "Oh yeahhh, I totally forgot I had one of those!"

That is why you need to keep your history current on pinside. I would be thinking for an hour if I didn't have the history right there to see.

I miss my R.B.I.O.N! sold it at a time of weakness!!

    #23 1 year ago

Dirty Harry was a nice starter machine but I do not miss it.

Addams Family was a good deal when I found it...kinda miss it. My wife really misses it and reminds me from time to time.

Vacation America...this was an odd one. Cheap, cheasy and not very good but EVERYONE played it on game night. Kinda miss that it entertained everyone for the cost of a nice dinner out with my wife.

I'm slowly learning that the simpler the machine is the more people that will play it.

    #24 1 year ago

it's been a little over 2 years after buying my first pinball machine, I've only sold two so far:

Scorpion: the first pinball machine I bought. Loved it at first, simple to understand and very easy to play, ultimately what led to getting rid of it. Don't miss it.

Escape from the lost world: The second pinball machine I bought. It was a looker, but gameplay was ultimately down to two main shots (albeit difficult shots), probably would've been better in a large collection. Don't miss this one either.

    #26 1 year ago

    #34 1 year ago

I've sold about 20? Not a single one do I miss. If I sell them, that means I'm ready to move on.

    #35 1 year ago

    Neat thread …

Some are easy to let go and I say don’t let the door hit you in the ass as you leave…

Jurassic Park Premium and DE Jurassic Park - just never liked them
Tommy - do not miss at all
Jonny Mnemonic - took forever to fix then never played, do not miss
Batman 66 - dream theme but so not missing it
Every EM I have owned - boat anchors

Iron Maiden - kind of in the middle on it

Indiana Jones - really miss it
Dialed In - should have kept it
Judge Dredd - why did I sell it?

    #36 1 year ago

    Ghostbusters premium - miss it

Stern Indiana jones - don’t miss it.

Jjp POTC - still have it ,but not playing it much lately - won’t sell it because if I miss it I’ll never be able to replace it with how pricing is now.

    #37 1 year ago

Games I'd love to own again but probably never will again due to pinflation.

    Funhouse
    ACDC premium
    Taf

Games I definitely want to buy again at some point.

    Fish Tales
    Star Trek pro

    #38 1 year ago

The three I miss most because I don't want to pay the new inflated prices are:

TZ. Sold for $3500 very nice pin

W?D cool game but after selling it for $1800 I can't justify the $5 k price now.

And the #1 burn my balls for selling... TAF sold for $5k and it was may favorite. $12k now??? I need therapy.

    #39 1 year ago
    Quoted from ThePinballCo-op:

Same here. Always better to get a new game than one I already played hundreds of times.

    #40 1 year ago

I miss the CV I bought for $2400 and sold for $4000

Also the Funhouse I bought and sold for $1500

    Miss my Stars too…

There’s probably more but I’ve been through ~150 machines

    Now I only sell duplicates.

    #41 1 year ago

I miss the Dr. Who I had. Sold for 2k a couple years ago

    Miss my pinball magic too

    #42 1 year ago
    Quoted from Beechwood:

    14. Addams Family. WHY THE HELL DID I SELL THAT. FUCK!!

I get this....feel the same way

    #43 1 year ago

    Pins sold that I don't miss;

Wms pitch & bat game (forgot title)

    Pins I wish I had kept;
    Paragon

    #44 1 year ago

    No regerts

    #45 1 year ago

Here is the kicker, the actual point of this thread:

I really, REALLY want TAF back. But wife said sell what we have to fund it, no more "new" cash is to be used for the pin fun. So, I can sell BSD, EaTPM, and LWJP to fund it. I give no shits about LWJP, but would miss EaTPM and BSD terribly. It is like choosing between children.

For this poor pinhead, it is damned if you do, damned if you don't. Maybe I should get a second job...

    #46 1 year ago

    BM66: Miss it big time
    World Poker Tour: Miss it
    F-14 Tomcat: Good riddance
    AC/DC: Sort of miss it
Wheel of Fortune: Miss it big time
    TSPP: Miss it big time
Playboy (Bally) Sort of miss it

EATPM is big money these days... might just need that and LWJP.. depending on condition. May even get someone who really wants the EATPM to work something out for TAF.. all depends on condition.

Curious, if you go back in time, what did the $ from TAF buy you?

    #48 1 year ago

Don't miss iron maiden whatsoever, made 2k on it too. I find myself missing the simpler games when they leave the house.

I played it virtually, game seemed fun. Bought one, restored it, Bill Davis pf and the whole nine yards. When I finally played it in real life it was boring as hell. I set the game up with outlanes wide open, tilted higher, just to make it harder to play. Beat it every time. On top of that hated the RH ramp ball jump up into it through the flap.

Call outs were repetitive, game seemed shallow to me.
