The award is focused on play field design. Software, is another category. Evaluate on shot layout, flow, toys, innovation achievements and shot satisfaction all should be considered. This category includes games released in 2016.

I was close to removing GB and Spiderman for the very reasons you mentioned. However, eliminating GB felt wrong since there are different opinions out there. Let the people decide was my fall back.
Most torn on this one. Spiderman is tough on how to treat VE (art, code nominations make easier to justify). Again, I error on the side of let the people decide. Not perfect, I know. Debbie downer justified.

No pin is perfect. I was really excited to play GB when it was announced and still enjoy playing it now. The pro is pretty solid and a lot cheaper than the other pins. I think that counts for something.
