A friend at work has a Bally Star Trek from his childhood that he wants to sell. It has been sitting in the same spot for 42 years until yesterday when I brought it to my home. He knows that I'm in the hobby and asked to take care of this for him, well actually his 85 year old mother.

Even though the game has been HUO since 1980, it hasn't been as well cared for since the location it was used in was a detached game room that was more or less an out building with minimal climate control in NJ. I was told that the building did have some heat and was kept at 50 degrees in winter. I took photos before moving it from the game room. The game was purchased by his father from a neighbor that was in the vending business when the game was 2 years old.

The good: Cabinet in great shape. Solid and minimal fading since the building didn't have windows. The rear of the head has peeling, I guess from temp changes. It still boots and plays even though MPU battery is still there. There is some weirdness in the displays but they do work. It's 100% original down to the leg bolts. Backglass is nice although not perfect. Some paint loss near player 2 and 4 score windows.

The bad: Ball was never changed. PF has the usual wear on the center inserts and upper saucer eject. Inserts are cupped. PF very dirty and evidence of mold, no rodents or bugs though. Hole drilled through floor by op, hole also goes through the coin box, I guess a security type thing as I have seen this on other pins.
Slide latch bolted through coin door.

I want to clean her up and bring it to Pinfest. I have a double indoor space by the restrooms. At this point I don't know what to ask for the game. First 3 pic is where the game was since 1980! Reproduction PF, plastics and backglasses are available for this title and would be a great candidate for a restore. I did a restore on this title in 2015 and it was a fun project.

Looking for "G" plastic for Eight Ball Champ. Center of PF below middle jet bumper.

    #1109 1 year ago
    Quoted from vec-tor:

    I'm in the same boat.
I have been wanting that games plastic set reproduced too.

It's a low production game so it probably will never happen. Even a broken one would be a plus so somebody could make a copy. Mine has a homemade one made from solid red plastic.

    Quoted from Pbpins:

8-Ball Deluxe playfield package. I was going to build a game using one of these overlays as I had a nice cabinet but a buddy just unearthed a NOS wired crate playfield so I felt that the cabinet should go to him. So what you wu get is the stripped playfield which has an intact wiring harness, all the drop target assemblies that are pictured and I’m pretty sure that I have the correct bumper, sling & flipper assemblies so will hunt for those tomorrow! You only get one overlay as the other is already sold! Finally I’m sure that I could put together an all original board, display & transformer package but I’m sure people most likely will want to go with new boards & displays.[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Star trek cleaned up and running with original board set. It will be at my booth for $1800.

Also have these neon beer signs from the same person. $300 each and will only bring if pre-sold. Non neon signs are $200.

    Updated Star Trek pics.

Game shopped after sitting in the same spot for over 40+ years. I would consider this a semi-project game since in could use new lamp sockets like a typical bally of this era usually does. Otherwise it's working well. Has the typical ST PF wear but not as bad as it usually is. CPR has a PF available for this title and there's a cool new sound board available as well.

    What I did:

Replaced EOS switches and coil sleeves for the flippers. Cleaned plastics and PF with Wildcat and Novus2. All new rubbers installed. Cleaned and adjusted switches. Installed Comet Sunlight LED's in a GI on PF and backbox. Replaced u11 on MPU. Replaced the original drop targets and pop bumper caps. New cap nuts on plastics. New ball.

Otherwise everything is original to the game, even the coils.

$1800. Will be set up in free play row.

Eight Ball Champ. The final sequel for the pool playing cowboy from Bally. They added more speech call outs after the 84 version. Circa 1985. Solid game, HUO since the mid 90's. Asking $2500

    Cons:
Doesn't boot when first turned on, needs a second and occasionally a third turn of power switch, but it's consistent and always boots.
Minor lifting of cab decal on left side year backbox and lower rear of cab.
One PF plastic not original, homemade "G" plastic.

    Pros:

Newer NOS MPU board, other boards super clean.

    Minimal playfield wear

    Displays working 100%

    Solid cabinet. No stains inside.

Play fast, just shopped, PF waxed, new rubbers, new ball.

100% Comet LEDs just installed. Non ghosting and color matched to inserts and sunlight white in GI. Almost $200 just in LEDs.

Brand new drop targets and NOS E-I-G-H-T stand-up targets just installed.

Nice back glass, only one flaw that I can see.

Nice game all around for the age.

Hopefully not me this time for the breaking glass or smells like ass.
Did Wolffpac mention something about a sale? Thought I saw something at one point, but no luck with searching.

The last 2 times at York they had a show price, maybe $10 or $20 discount on a complete set.

    Quoted from NYG:

    Dig Dug slot machine $250
    Black Jack slot machine $250
Whirlwind used playfield, underside and topside parts $400 for everything
Can bring to the show if any interest
