    Quoted from MiniPinHead:

Anyone score anything fun in the flea market? Odd and end finds seem underreported

There were definitely finds to be had. I picked up some arcade marquees and some spare Apollo 13 parts (Lunar lander, center post save mech, and the moon ramp gate/sign). I never pass up the opportunity to buy spare parts for a machine I have.

Some of the best finds were actually at the Marco booth. They had shelves of random parts at low prices. I overheard someone say they were returns. I don't know if true but I got some decent deals, including a few System 80 sound boards, some flipper and pop bumper mechs, a few score reels, and other misc stuff. I also picked up 2 sheets of standard glass.

The show itself was great as always. Machines kept coming and going all day. Everytime I turned around I a saw a new machine on the floor. Probably the busiest I have ever seen the show and more families than I remember of all ages. I walked out at 2:15 to grab lunch and there was still a line to get in. Crazy, but a great time.

A Gigantic BIG thank you to everyone that made my day at Pinfest 2023.
To SantaEatsCheese for helping me bring my first game to Freeplay, allowing me to scoup up fantastic deals early before the crowd showed up!
To jamescardona for the back box wire harness and lamp sockets for my next build!
To Marcos Pinball for my order that I picked up and no shipping. I always enjoy talking to Ashley from SC.
To Tilt Graphics for another set of side blades!
To Comet Leds for helping me order more pop bumper LEDs, as well as more blue LEDs!
To MVP Mike for supplying me with all the coils and cabinet parts for my next build!
To Mayfair for lots of parts that I will need in a future build! And for charging my dead cell phone!!!
And Lastly to the Guy in the corner near the loading door and the tournament play! He hooked me up with great deals on NOS WPC cabinet parts from one of his friends that had passed away in Florida. They will be put to good use.

Here are some pictures from Thursday (set up day). This is what it looked like before the wall to wall crowds showed up on Friday.

This was happening at TPF too. I’m guessing it’s some viral marketing for a new amazing Spider-Man machine. Possibly what everyone thinks is venom?

    Wow, what a show!

Ivan1496 Thank you for what I think was the best show yet! Lots of games, and even Saturday there was a good selection. You and your staff are always kind and courteous.

Thank you to Pinstar and Cointaker for bringing all the latest games. This is a great way for people to get some time on the new stuff for sure. I got to play Scooby, Galactic Tank Force, Godfather , Foo Fighters and Pulp Fiction. Had a blast!

a HUGE thank you as well to all who brought machines for the free play area. I know what a hassle that can be just to being one or 2 games, but some people brought 5 or 6 and some were almost new. Its you that really make the show for me. Vendors who had games there to sell and play, thank you as well. There was a great variety in my opinion.

Took Firepower II and Time Machine and both sold. Bought a diamond plated Pool Sharks and am waiting to get that in the basement. Got some needed parts as well, and some fun finds in the flea Market area.

I didn't notice any adverse smells for most of the show. The back restrooms were a little ranky toward the end of Saturday but I didn't notice the crop dusting or BO this year but that may have been masked by the smell of the (i'm certain medically needed) cannibus. LOL

Was nice to catch up with many from here on Pinside, as well as other friends.

    Until Next Year!

I’m so bummed no shirts were left for today. I really wanted one.

    #2420 11 months ago

This was my fifth Pinfest show, and they get better every year. I got there a little before 12,and I left at 8. It felt like I was there for a couple of hours instead of eight. Thanks to everyone who made this show possible and thanks to everyone who brought all of the excellent games for us to play.

    WOZECLE price drop to $9900.
    Zero issues day 1.

I played a ton of games on Friday, both NIB and old,and this was my favorite Pinball machine for the day. No one was behind me ,so I kept hitting the start button.

    Quoted from Colsond3:

What I could use is a better backglass for my Safari. If anybody has one lingering around....PLEASE reach out. If not, I'll have to go the BG Resto route. Unless I sell the game unexpectedly.

THANK YOU for bringing this machine. Wow...it turned out great. The amount of work you put in really shows. I especially loved seeing the Esso Gasoline tie-in on the backglass...gave me a good chuckle.

I had a question about that tie-in . Was that factory? I saw that and thought it was pretty funny! I was going to ask Colsond3 about it but every time he was there he was busy and other times when I was there he was not

That cabinet was butter smooth! Great work went into that and the inside was as clean as the outside!

Yep...that was factory alright. Someone at Bally had a sense of humor.

BTW...the photos of the underside of the Firepower II playfield turned out great....THANKS again for opening it up so I could take those pics.

There were at least *three* wozes at the show this year

The one with the yellow flippers didn't play very well. The flippers were very weak.

The one with the green lighting looked washed out (by the green), and the flippers were a bit weak.

The best one out of the 3 I played was probably @curban's. It looked great, and played great. If I had the cash on me today, I would've been sorely tempted.

    1) The cards were pointless. There was no info on them, no company name, no website.

    2) I saw them littered on several other games, not just mine.

    3) Like others have commented in years past when someone randomly puts advertising on games they don't own, it's annoying, to say the least. I didn't bring games to be someone else's billboard. There are several ways to advertise at the show in perfectly acceptable ways and/or *with* someone's permission.

    #2431 11 months ago

What a great show! Bond was solid in the tourney ( won $100), weird Al was solid for 400ish plays, Tophervette Dr who had a line. Bought a restored firepower and put an I don't want to buy it price on it. High schooler tried to buy it off me. I couldn't do it so he got it at my cost. Picked up a last minute xenon instead and a Vulcan project that I guess is living in my garage. Picked up a topper for a buddy. Sold and bought a 1up for the same price, scored the wallhanger paragon playfield I've been looking for. Picked up 4 wallhanger backglasses and... a really nice looking copy of nintendo power #1.

My 1st time putting a game in free play and those were also on my Meteor. That game was sold before I even loaded up and the buyer agreed that since I had registered it for free play it should be there. It also let him know it was solid because after the huge turnout Friday it never missed a beat. I was impressed because like the game was my child, I had friends making the loop always checking on it and I did 4x myself. Had the new code installed with the previously unavailable free play on a SS Stern. Solid as a rock. I should of checked the audits to see the # of game plays but it was always being played when I checked it and others did.

Yeah it just seems stupid. I’ll be interested to hear if anyone figures out what they were for

Sad I didn’t get to make it this year. But thanks to my awesome friends that I go with each year, I still bought a game lol.

Absolutely love this hobby and my buds. You other pinball people are alright too.

See you all next year for sure.

Can anyone put me in touch with the vendor that was selling the lit playfields on the back wall near the tournament area. He had WOZ and Hobbit playfields that were fully RGB lit and programmed for wall hanging. My buddy would like the woz one. Based on the vendor map on the pinfest site it could have been Sterling Adams maybe?

    Thanks!

There were a few WOZECLE’s. Unfortunately, mine didnt sell even after dropping to $9500. Still was worth bringing since people enjoyed playing it…checked up on it a lot and it was constantly played. Zero issues both days (except for the sore back moving that beast!)

…well, maybe it wasn’t mine. Mine had the yellow flipper rubbers and was next to my players condition Star Trek. Flipper power is adjustable, and I keep mine a little low…maybe shoulda increased it for the masses.

I’ll list it again on Pinside in a couple of days for the final show price.

Wife and I had a great time at the show both days. Lotsa great games and great people. Good to see the big crowds…we’re getting close to outgrowing the space!

Your WOZ played extremely well both times I hopped on it. I was able to hit shots with no issue and honestly found it playing better than the one JJP brought to Expo last year.

Shout out to the sanctum crew helping me set up and break down. Sold 13 machines, brought home 10. Definitely had some end of show bargain prices on my machines but ended up taking most home. I look forward to next year.

I only stayed a couple hours...IDK...I just wasn't feeling it. The problem with public arcades and places like this is that you can't seem to hear the damned game that you're playing but you can seem to hear everything else around you drowning out the sound of the game that you're playing lol. Is Pulp Fiction that good? I wasn't about to wait in a long-ass line like a roller coaster just to play a game for a few seconds. When Jersey Jack Wizard of OZ (great game BTW) first came to pinfest there wasn't any crazy lines or wait to play it...but it was on dollar per play for charity I think. The guys who brought all the Foo Fighters you did good bringing a ton of them! That's the way to showcase a brand new game and give people a chance to play them in a reasonable amount of time. The most that I waited to play Foo Fighters is just one person in front of me, got to play it a bunch of times, and I thought the gameplay was a lot of fun even though I'm not too much of a fan of the band, don't hate them, just don't really listen to them either, but now I'm thinking about buying one NIB as my first pin instead of some of my other older grails that cost much more than they did when brand new. Really bummed that there was no Metallica there. First pinfest that I attended around 2014/15 had multiple Metallica's and one was totally modded out. What was up with the Cirqus Voltaire cab in the freeplay area that seemed to be running some other game inside the cab? It would of been nice if the nice one that was in the flee market area was in the freeplay area, was looking forward to playing Circus Voltaire since it's one of my favorites and it was a very nice one, but I just can't see 11k for a game that old lol. Well I guess the takeaway is that I only enjoyed playing Foo Fighters a few times...but I don't live that far away....crazy how far people come to this event. Seen an Ontario license plate.....holy moly...that's some true pinhead dedication! :p

That’s a home brew of a Gottlieb Rock/Rock Encore that has a kick ass sound system that lets you select a genre of music and then play the game with a custom designed ruleset. Sometimes when you put together a home brew, the available cabinet chooses you. He also did the Sinbad with the monitor as a backglass playing movie clips (was also happy to see Sinbad with a ball save feature). Both games are awesome and I had a blast playing them. Very creative and is awesome to see at shows.

Had a great time at the show this year! Played quite a few games I've never seen before (Queen, Scooby, Godzilla, Dr. No...) and enjoyed chatting with some new and old faces.

Thanks to the nice folks who bought my Safecracker and WOZ-ECLE. I think they will be happy with their new toys!

Since I could only attend on Friday, I left two other "for sale" games at home. If you've got some PinFest money burning a hole in your pocket, stop by and pickup either (or both) my Deadpool Premium and GNR-LE! I'll do a "end-of-show special" price, to make room for incoming games this week.

    Thanks!
    Steve

Sinbad stole the show! Best game there. That was refreshing to see and enjoyable to play!

If you want to play Circus Voltaire (a very nice one with color dmd) go to Rock Fantasy in Middletown, NY. It's only an 1hr20min from you. Plus there's 50+ game between RF and Quinnz Pinz which is close by.

Great show, Dmacy, myself and our bud big deal Dave shared our first fleamarket spot, had a blast dickering with everyone. Great to see surplus parts, playfield's and backglass's find new homes. Thanks to all that stopped by, next stop York show!!

This year was an awesome show. The Mrs and I really enjoyed ourselves with all the new game titles that we got to play. Sadly, we did not leave home with a pin, even though our favorite title was there a lot more than the previous years. Got to meet some new people especially the Spooky crew (Scooby Do was a fun machine).

That’s cool to here. Would love to see a video of how it plays.

First impression is that Pulp Fiction pinball is a little overhyped. I love the movie and am a huge Tarantino fan, in general. I was really looking forward to the pin. I only played it once yesterday, but think I had a pretty decent game…lit three character modes and had 2 or 3 multiballs. Callouts are great, but shots and gameplay weren’t terribly exciting. Didn’t realize how much I would miss ramps. Im predicting the modern crowd will tire of this quickly unless there’s WAY more to the game than I’m perceiving…I still want one, as it’ll be a great change of pace in a larger collection…just not as excited about it as I was when listening/reading all the hype.

I believe they haven’t delivered any, so you can ONLY play it at shows. Also, think only key distributors have one (and maybe only one).

…well, maybe it wasn’t mine. Mine had the yellow flipper rubbers and was next to my players condition Star Trek. Flipper power is adjustable, and I keep mine a little low…maybe shoulda increased it for the masses.

One game had yellow flipper bats without the ruby slippers. It was on the back row. That's the one I was talking about

Yours was in the second row next to the stern star trek, right?

Thought the show was awesome. Drove up from middle of VA and was exhausted by end of day but that might have been the massive Amish lunch!

Only negative - Saw a comment above about the sound - of course you expect massive noise but for instance one of the godfathers was so loud I actually could not hear a bit of Bond in the next aisle. There truly needs to be a limit on where the volume is set. In another aisle (near the nice WOZ) I was trying to have a conversation with a vendor and we both gave up as I was 4th in line and could not leave.

Positives? Always Marco and Cointaker. Great to play Scooby too. I really thought all the dealers were easy to work with. I thought that the souped up Tron near the entrance to the flea market room is was the coolest machine in the show.

Never made it through the Pulp Fiction line but that was my fault.

    Awesome show!

I think someone brought one of the ones out of Pinball star's booth between Friday and Saturday IIRC they had 2 set up, and there was only one Saturday.

One thing CG needs to fix in it is the end of ball is confusing, it's too long, and the player up score blinks at the end of it, led me and a couple others to think we had an extra ball or something. Long time to switch to player 2. The game was fun, but I don't like being 'taken out' of the story in so much as it's a movie set, so you're playing the actors in a movie, not being IN the movie. It was fun otherwise, although I think the LED displays kind of look like gas plasma displays that are starting to outgas.

The repeated callouts started to get a bit repetitive too, maybe mix it up a little bit.

I hope it's a continued success though so we might see some other Tarantino based pins like Kill Bill made & released.

I'm glad I got to play it before the whole hall was opened, as you really need to hear the sound on this (or other) pins. Galactic tank Force I loved the throwback style graphics package, but once the show was opened the sound was lost and you only hear the highs which sounded odd. Based on a couple of plays I think this might be AP's best game yet.

Did not care for Godfather at all, the theme is cold for me as I don't care about the movie, and the flippers were weak.... as was the plunger! Couldn't make the opening ramp. Some neat things on the playfield like the candycane lock. The flippers and plunger were set stronger on the Cointaker one.

I liked Foo Fighters interesting ball movement. Sad that 'big me' isn't one of the songs AFAIK as that's the only song of theirs I know.

Queen was 'ok' but not something I'd care to go back to. I *finally* got to play the Big Lebowski after years of not wanting to wait in long lines to play at other shows (thanks whoever brought that one for the floor) and the game shoots well, although I think it was leaning a bit to the right, the ball kept getting stuck under the upper mini flipper, which isn't on all the time, so the ball search has to raise it and had to kind of hit the side of the machine to get it dislodged. Because of this I didn't get to see the bowling. This game is the case of I don't care for the theme of the movie (I don't 'get' that movie.... I know it's probably all stoner humor which I don't care about, but is sometimes funny) - but because the game was fun to play, I don't mind it.

Dr. No, I was an eh on. Middle of the road.

I'm just happy that for the first time, I was able to play at least once all of the new titles that were at a show, and there were a lot of new titles this year.

Thanks Cointaker and Pinball star for bringing and putting them all out for freeplay.... I know that's your business, (selling games) but no one forces either of them to put so many out.

Oh yeah, Scooby Doo, interesting game but again, Spooky, please make your animations cancelable with double flipping. Yes, the first time in, let's watch the (kind of long) animation clip, but let me skip them after that. I couldn't get past that on Ultraman either, every drain from the second level you had to wait to watch that long clip.
