I would never book a non refundable room. I use Hilton.com and always take the reservation that can be canceled 24 hours in advance. You'll spend a couple dollars more but worth it. Just re-booked at Homewood Suites for $87 a night.
I booked the Hilton Garden Inn West for $130 a night with taxes thru the Hilton Honors site. It's close and the have a bar. Full cancellation within 24 hours plus I can convert payment to points before arrival.
Quoted from Nhpolarbear:Does anyone have any indication if there will or will not be a mask mandate for the venue? I realize we are 7 weeks away and things can and do change. Please advise. Thank you.
PA lifts all restrictions at the end of June.

I'm spending two nights in Allentown as a 1st time vendor. Can any locals recommend the best restaurant for seafood? Not Red Lobster style, but local joints? Also on night #2 a place with great Buffalo chicken wings, again not a chain.
Last year I was a vendor for the 1st time. Used points for a free hotel stay for 2 nights. I had 2 video games and one pin presold. My friend who was sharing the space had a restored game to deliver. We each brought a game to sell. His sold mine didn't. Paid $850 for the Uhaul. When I booked a 2 night room now it's $335. The costs are making setting up at a show difficult. Fuel is way up. Makes doing the show again this year difficult.
Quoted from Irishbastard:Yup, that blows. Seems it basically always rains for the show. I like to hang out in the parking lot for a few beverages, rain hampers that
I'll bring some Labatt's Blue and pick up that plastics set. My treat.

From one Irish Bastard to another.
I've stayed at Homewood Suites West 2 years in a row. Nice and clean, kitchen, decent free breakfast, plenty of parking. 10 minutes to the fairgrounds. Stayed free every time, perks of AMEX Hilton Honors card points.
Price was $139 a night when I booked in January.
Quoted from 1974DeltaQueen:Considering staying at the Hilton Gardens by the Airport. Reviews don't mention hookers, drug sales, crazed meth heads howling in the parking lot looking for their popsicle cat. My question is how safe is that area? The last thing any of us want is our vehicle broken into or stolen. One place I can say avoid at all costs is Howard Johnson's on Hamilton Ave. The reviews are alarming and the photos by reviewers are cringe worthy. The last 2 shows I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on Hamilton Ave across from Dorney. Nice place but......... for those of us will full sized pickups, the spots are more geared towards Honda Civics, not real wide. I always park under the lights. The two years I had a trailer, I stayed at the Comfort Suites, which is now Four Points. There is a secondary lot across from the main lot that easily accommodates pickups with enclosed trailers. Stayed there up until fellow Pinsiders had issues with the front desk selling rooms and giving card keys out to occupied rooms.
Look at the Residence Inn West. I stayed there the last 2 years, very nice.
Quoted from Irishbastard:At least you can find beer in super markets etc now in PA, I remember the first time I went to Pinfest and couldn't find beer anywhere. Had to buy it in a bar, weird.
When the PA Liqueur Control Board realized they can sell beer & wine licenses at auction for huge $$ to grocery stores, Sheetz, Rutters and other convenience store chains, beer is everywhere now.
