I'll be eating this this weekend in honor of Allentown. I'm sure it wont be nearly as good as the real version I get at the farmers market every year during the show.

Put in for the day back in january.
I decided to take the day anyway.

This is the only event that I’ll really miss this year. I LOVE this show. Here’s a list of things I’ll miss most of all:

Going to the Flea Market, finding a parts guy, pointing at some rusty old legs and saying “Nice Legs!”

Waiting in line for a rare game that I don’t really care about, but where else could I play it?

Buying some crap box and regretting it the whole ride home. Such a Moberg thing to do.

Getting food from a cute Amish college aged chick. (I’m 21 and allowed to say that.)

Seeing the mainstay folks; Corey from the tournament, TNT, Joe from Pingraffix, PinballSTAR and so many others.

Being told that all the playfield glass has sold out at Friday at 1.30pm. It’s become tradition.

I’m gonna miss the show this year - a lot. Like SO MUCH. But I have so many great memories from previous years to savor through 2020. I’m just hoping we can see each other again in 2021.

    Peace & Love,

    Moberg

I am really missing it as I had to miss last year due to a hiking vacation in the UK. Oh well, here’s to 2021! I just hope the show doesn’t get hit with any severe financial stress that causes it to go under or the hard working organizers to lose faith and give up. These shows are so much work to pull off even for an experienced team like Ivan has.

Allentown 2019 was my first pinball show and I was prepped for Allentown 2020 with 2 games signed up for Freeplay for you all to enjoy. (This Taxi and Whirlwind). I had some DMDs and ramps to try to trade for new wallhanger backglasses and was looking forward to pursuing the flee market for TSPP mods, trough lights, and coil stops. I had my lunch ready to go from the Amish Korean Restaurant. I was ready to take the day off today for once and make it a 2 day trip! I'll just keep my backglass want ads up in the meantime.

I'll be at the next actual Allentown show and will make York if it goes this year.

yeah, it's depressing for sure that the show isn't taking place, weather is nice today too and will be tomorrow.

This weekend went from a weekend where I had too many things booked, to nothing at all. I was supposed to attend the pinball show, do an OCR race in New Jersey, and check out NXT at the casino in Bethlehem. Now I'll just be painting the inside of our camper which is significantly less fun than what I should of been doing this weekend.

True dat. By this time, I would have already been cropdusted five times, heard at least ten people complaining about how slow the line was moving, and had Joe Newhart make fun of my socks pulled up to my ass.

    Ahh....memories.

LMAO - YES you were a wonderful friend coming out to our WOZ donation at the hospital. And yes, I love beating you to the punch with games for sale. I've never met your grandkids, but if they wear their socks like you they need to spend their time on fashion and not playing pinball. And... I will relish any opportunity to bust your balls my friend... You brought me up so you gotta expect me to be me ! Love ya !

I don't know about the farmer's market. I've eaten there numerous times and always leave feeling like i have a layer of filth and/or some sort of bacterial colony setting up shop on me. Place is grimy imo.

Never will understand the placement of the one next to the restrooms, all you can smell in that area is the restrooms, barf.

But, if anyone enjoys the liquid "burgers" from there, these things from Walmart taste very similar (and also turn into fireballs on the grill due to the 200% fat content).

Allentown is an annual rite of passage for pinheads. Unfortunately, not looking like there will be pinball shows this year. I finally conceded that and ordered playfield glass for my local glass company today!

    Mark,

I'm going to place an order for playfield glass. I need a couple of odd sizes. What is your cabinet company getting for it per sheet.

    Quoted from 1974DeltaQueen:

Wish I was eating a Steak & cheese pretzel wrap right about now.

For me, it's the buffalo chicken pretzel wrap. Artery clogging and worth every bit of it!

I know the glass for the show is made already. I don't know the plan for it. I hope the show goes on even if it's later in the year.

The governor of PA extended the stay at home order for the Lehigh Valley until May 25th. Even after this is over, they won't just open "business as usual" it will be systematic and slow. There is little doubt in my mind that this show will not happen in June.

They keep making dates that the order will expire, then keep pushing them back. It's super frustrating and I am over it, but people need to be safe.

Since I have been doing business with them for a few years on oddball arcade games Etc, they cut me a break. Rondout Glass in Kingston. $45 per sheet which is considerably less than they originally quoted 5 years ago. Generally, their tempered glass minimum charge is $50. I think they are hungry for work as are we all.

Finally a nice Saturday to set up outside with the grill in the flea Market area. I have a ton of parts for sale. Even a few yo-yos.

    #432 3 years ago

what parts for sale? Maybe we could start a new thread. Pinside Flea Market stuff.

Somewhat seriously considered driving up with a machine and setting it up in the parking lot for the photo op and fake internet points. Missing the show and the tournament.

I was at the farmers market last night. Was going to take pictures of the food but didn't want to break everyone's heart.

    #440 3 years ago

    Irony,

Missed the show, but picked up two machines that were just about the same distance from me as Allentown.

    Still doesn't compensate though.

Yup that snack bar pizza makes Dominos taste good! When the bottom of your pizza has “this end up” it’s never good.

So, with Pintastic now cancelled, is it official yet? Pinfest 2021?

    #443 3 years ago
    Quoted from Irishbastard:

So, with Pintastic now cancelled, is it official yet? Pinfest 2021?

I don't see Ivan "giving up" that easy but with the number of cases in the Allentown area and even more cases in NY & NJ than the Allentown area it is seeming more and more likely Allentown will not happen this year.

Looking at the "guidelines" Governor Wolf set up for PA we have to be in the "green" before large groups of people can get together. The Allentown area isn't even to "yellow" yet and likely will not make it to "yellow" for at least a couple more months (at best). So going to "green" will likely be in the Fall at best. Then once we got to that point Ivan would have to find an "open weekend" at the fairground that would work for the show.

Since the fairground is typically booked for most weekends even if things do turn to green it will likely be tough for him to find an open weekend before the end of the year.

I am not saying the show will not happen - all I am saying is every week that passes makes it look less and less like Allentown will happen this year. I am also having my doubts about York or any other show scheduled for 2020 but only time will tell!

    #444 3 years ago
    Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Yeah it's not quite as nice as the snackbar inside the hall lol.

You just made me laugh my ass off!

I think we need a new thread.... "Next Pinfest - Buy, Sell, Trade, Want (No Hotel, Farmers Market or COVID Talk)

    #446 3 years ago
    Quoted from Pinphila:

I think we need a new thread.... "Next Pinfest - Buy, Sell, Trade, Want (No Hotel, Farmers Market or COVID Talk)

The issue I see with that is depending on when the show actually happens most peoples inventory of stuff for sale (or wanted) will likely change. I know my "parts inventory" changes daily and my machine inventory changes at least monthly. So machines I have for sale right now will likely be gone if Allentown happens in 4 or 5 months. But I'll also likely have other machines to replace those sold.

If I have something someone wants and wants to pick it up at Allentown I surely doing want to hold it for a year for them. I just don't have the space to do that.

It would be nice if Ivan could tell us for sure what is actually going to happen but the truth is he likely doesn't know at this point. So it seems like all we can talk about with Allentown is "if it might happen this year".

Just my 2 cents on things.

    #447 3 years ago

Have a zoom call for people to trade junk from their garages and basements and fund someone to courier parts around and leave them on your lawn.

Allentown is a great show, and I would probably drive there just for a pretzel wrap.

Replay FX bit the dust today too. The wife & I were talking about this over lunch and she volunteered me to get all our pins up and running 100% and she'd make us some pretzel dogs and we'd watch Todd Tuckey's Best Offer sale of the week & "Call it Allentown..."
