Quoted from gliebig:Mike, is that IJ for sale?
No, and I’ll be keeping my eye on you around my IJ to make sure it doesn’t wander off the floor!
Not planning on selling any of the games I bring.
Quoted from Kolchak357:DaveH,
The Renaissance Allentown is a pretty nice hotel. If that’s more the type of place you are looking for. I haven’t stayed there as I live pretty close, but some of my wife’s friends enjoyed their stays there.
http://www.renaissanceallentown.com
I’ve stayed there multiple times if you’re looking for higher end accommodations and/or want to burn some Marriott points. Parking in garage is free on the weekends. Walking distance to lots of restaurants and bars. ~10 minute drive to the fairgrounds.
Quoted from Irishbastard:I know your sarcasm is strong, but I just checked that joint out...Wow, looks awesome... looks much better than a hotel I just stayed in for alot more than they are charging per night. If I was going with the family I'd probably try them this time, but since I'll be going with a buddy, and may have walked face first into the sliding doors at the Holiday Inn at 3am one year (need room key to open them after a certain hour) and you could probably shove me in the trunk of a car after a day of drinking and told me I slept at the Ritz....I'm guessing Holiday Inn or Wingate will be my bedbug free floor to pass out on
Although I'm not staying there this year I stayed there for the last two years and it is quite nice and is convenient to the fairgrounds. For a weekend stay over PinFest pretty much any larger company or gov rate will fetch you a nice room for $109/night. I practically live out of Marriotts for work so I usually stay on points. I'm expecting to have a trailer this year which is the only reason I'm not staying there again. (The Renaissance is downtown so it's garage parking only.)
As far as stumbling back to the room at 3AM there are a number of great restaurants/bars/microbreweries within a 2-3 block radius.
Quoted from Irishbastard:Warning for the "I'm offended by seeing another hotel post" people, scroll on....
So, guys that have stayed at the Renaissance...is self parking really a sh#t show like the reviews say? Or is it fine if your not a complainer.... Also, what does the parking garage charge?
Thanks
I’ve never had a single issue with parking there. If there’s an event going on at the attached arena I’ve had to park closer to the top of the garage but never had an issue finding a space. Parking may have a fee Thursday/Friday till 5, but the gates have always been open for free parking after that on weekends.
<ducks tomatoes being thrown for talking about hotels. >
Quoted from Butch2099:Nor our first truck but our first truck with just pins
Truck... who needs a truck?
#badideajeans
Quoted from mtbpinball:that looks like too big of a trailer for that minivan
So that picture is a bit forced perspective with the angle having the trailer closer to the camera than the van... but I’ll admit it does still look absolutely ridiculous in real life... almost 1000 pounds under the tow rating when loaded with my pins though. Easy 200 mile tow today, zero issues.
Quoted from ForceFlow:If you see a game not working, text the number on the info card to let the owner know. Often times, a problem develops on a game, and nobody notifies the owner, so it sits until the owner happens to find out on their own later.
This. For the games I had in free play any issues that occurred this weekend were super minor and easily fixed. I only got calls or texts for about half of them though (which I’m super appreciative of!) For the other half I only found out after walking by and seeing them off.
Quoted from mcandrew:Also, he flaked on Sat am, not Sunday, so I did have most of a day to sell it. And it did finally sell, for a little less.
So based on everything we've heard he's still a dick. Pinsider? Out him. Better that the next person doesn't get burned by him.
In my opinion this was the best PinFest of the last three years I attended- Great game selection, great people, lots of vendors, lots of fun. And my son won the kids division in his first time playing a tournament!
My games fared very well; total play count was:
Indiana Jones: The Pinball Adventure 366 plays
Family Guy 258 plays
The Getaway: High Speed II 316 plays
Dr. Dude 371 plays (Thanks to bluespin for delivering this new acquisition to the show for me!)
Quoted from SilverUnicorn:Your machines were VERY nice. Was great meeting you! Were those audits for both days? I ask only because I had 326 on Airborne for just Saturday.
Chris
Great meeting you as well Chris! My audits were for both days. 326 on your Airborne is a lot for one day. Quick ball times?
Quoted from ruzeo:Quote from mike_m (owner of getaway at show)
The light effect for the SuperCharger is done via a Pinduino. I love the red lights chasing the ball as it whips around! professorpinball developed and sells Pinduino (https://pinside.com/pinball/market/shops/1025-professor-pinball/00514-pinduino-wpc-v03-) and is an all around great guy to boot.
What he said!
Minor point of clarification- ProfessorPinball is the store name, his pinsider ID is @lyonsden.
Quoted from ultimategameroom:Now if only someone would post a pic of VID1900. Always wondered what he looked like in person...
I hear vid1900 looks surprisingly good for a 118 year old. I believe TPF is trying to get him as next year's celebrity.
Quoted from Stoomer:... Even some who weren't sure they wanted to sell...
LOL- I had "not for sale" on all my machines but got the hard sell offer on a couple of them.
