Ramada crowd let’s get it up!! It’s almost time. My ETA to the hotel is like 945. So hopefully I’ll be setup around 10pm. I will need help unloading.
Iron Maiden anyone?

I can help with the unloading and setup. I’ll bring my appliance dolly to the party room

#954 5 years ago

I had to bail out as I have to be at work on Saturday but had a good time....great show! Iron Maiden PRO (which I have zero interest in musically) had sweet flow and really screams pinball....Houdini is a beaut and great pin...the pimped out DEMOLTION MAN was sweet...never played a RADICAL b4 and it lived up to its pin name. I'm not sure who restored this lil wedgehead Expressway EM but the CCed PF was brilliant and it was my fav of the show...I wanted to take it home!! And the physical PONG TABLE was cooler in person than I imagined

Was a great time today with my wife at pinfest! We stayed in the area for a good six hours or so. Iron maiden was a hoot. I think I enjoyed it more than my MET. Got to play another pitch and bat which I love, and my wife kept smoking me at that.

I enjoyed Ivan rubbing his butt on my hand when I played his Godzilla lol...he was working on the game to the left, dungeons and dragons I believe. Funny enough but he was able to hit the left flipper and not allow the ball to drain.

Saw Jersey jack floating around. Would have liked to say something but all I have is, hey we have a rr woz and love it and my wife is in love with Toy Story while leering suspiciously.

NBC was a real treat. Flippers were weak when I played around 5 or so after they brought it back into play, I guess they said power issues? Would be interesting to see a get run off a UPS at a show if the power draw is causing some lower voltages.

Was a great time overall. Got some donuts and pretzel wraps as well.

I spoke with one of the police officers upon their arrival. His first question was: "Do they have any eighties Gottliebs here?" Swear to God!

Funny thing is, there were very few 80B Gottlieb machines at the show. Not one Raven, Gold Wings or Arena.

Anyone see any Pinbot plastics or playfields today? Still looking.

#974 5 years ago

Allentown seems right up my alley. Need to add to my list next year.

#975 5 years ago

Yes, shut down by the Popo. When I first walked in and asked where we should load our game in. The bartender said “it’s in there but we’re not opening the door between the side room and the bar”. She then left the door open then bitched about people bringing beer and called the police. Bullshit on the hotel’s part.

Soooo....No offense, but what idiots bought the garbage pins in the back corner of the flea market? $1k for the spray painted, crap pf High Speed??? The beat to hell Jokerz with the pure rust legs, blown out everything...$800.....They all looked like that came from an abandoned building...Crazy these days...That HS tho, lol Really?

That "idiot" is my neighbor at the flea market and he sold EVERY machine he had before closing yesterday (a full day before the end of the show) so I guess his prices were not as bad as you might think. Maybe a few 'buyers" were "idiots" for paying what they did for the machines they bought (I don't know what anyone actually paid for machines & that is really none of my business anyway) but calling a seller an "idiot" for bring pinball machines to a pinball show really isn't necessary.

The way I see things is he brought a bunch of neglected machines to a show hoping someone would "save them". Then he put prices on those machines hoping to sell them. Once the show started it was up to the buyers to decide what each machine was worth - it has nothing to do with asking price it is all about selling price & his prices must have been OK to sell EVERY MACHINE!

Do I think prices on machines have gotten INSANE lately - yes I do. But calling a seller an IDIOT for getting as much as possible for what he is selling isn't the seller being an idiot - it is a seller being a smart business man!

At the show yesterday. Got a chance to play TNA , Houdini, Guardians, Iron Maiden and the new Pirates. Liked them all especially Houdini. Stern has a real winner with IM. Also got to play some older pins like Stars and Meteor.

Got to share a couple of beers and a cheese sausage dog with a couple of Jersey pinsiders and their lovely brides ( Thanks as always Gentlemen).

Bought Three pin sound boards at what I thought was a great price and a pair of used pin ball pro speakers from back alley.

Great show . One of the high lites, was I was waiting in line to play Pirates and Jack came over to me and Thanked me personally for waiting in line to play his game. He saw that I needed a bag to hold my used pinball pro speakers and went to find me a bag to hold them in while I waited in line. He was very gracious and answered every bodies "when" questions. On my Hobbit code question, he said "soon". I was very impressed by how he handled the crowd. Played a game of Pirates with a lovely young lady waiting behind me in line. All in all a great day.

Never called the seller an idiot (Try reading that again).....It's just crazy what you can get for a turd at a show...

Thanks Chad (@djreddog) for the invite. “Hotel Bar Pinball” should be a pop-up event across the country!

Also stopped by the bar for some serious pinball geek-talk with Justin (N80G80 - far right) and Kevin (La4s - Whirlwind tee). We bought Justin’s Addams Family a couple of months ago & it is at the Roanoke Pinball Museum. Guests love it!

Thanks to those that hosted us last night. The Ramada called the police on us for someone bringing their own beer (I’m not sure what the police are going to do), and then shut the party down.

When the party got shut down and moved to the hotel room I brought an alien up from the truck for everyone to play. Only I left the power cord in a box at the show.. I borrowed one from a guys BSD so we could play it for a bit, and he was legit mad at me. I apologized for not asking first and tried to shake his hand twice but he refused and said “no thanks”. Just trying to share games that people don’t often see, eff me right!

#999 5 years ago
Quoted from Crispin:

Yes Ralph, that address leads you to the closest entrance to the venue. You will pull in and Pinfest will be on your left and the good eats on your right. I spoke with Bluespin tonight who just picked up a BSD at the show and good news the show is at capacity and couldn't fit his pin!!! Do you think that stopped Bluespin? Ha! That 2nd BSD that will be at the Ramada party tomorrow night is currently set up in his room getting some action right now!

Thank you for taking the time to post the Pinfest address! I was amazed that I found such a good parking spot too. I was able to go to my car and eat a sandwich, that I packed from home.I'm trying to stay away from all of the good food I've read about at the Farmers Market.I'm also glad that the good food was in a separate building! I have some will power, but if I saw and smelled the good stuff,it would have broke me.
I saw a couple of people eating some kind of hoagie that looked killer inside the playing area. I made myself look away ,but I did feel small tears starting to form in my eyes.Damn,I love a good hoagie!

#1000 5 years ago

Knocker!! Thanks for bringing that alien. I played it around 3 times and liked it. I was the guy waiting and trying to help as you got that bad lock off and replaced it with a new one. As far as the party, are people really that cheap that they can’t but a drink from the bar? Ruined it for everyone. And the BSD situation, you know you can never win.
