Nightmare Before Christmas!
Jack and I will be there in the Cointaker area. Stop by, say hi and play a game while waiting for your turn on Houdini, Iron Maiden, or that other Nightmare pin

That is all kinds of badassness right there!

Quoted from Pinballflare:

I have a 1958 Bally Trophy Bowler I could deliver to the show if a deal is arranged beforehand. It is a 4 inch contact bowler. Asking $2300.

I have 3 food goals for 2018 Pinfest.
Pretzel wrap with steak n cheese
Onion straws from Wert’s Cafe
Awesome Mother Clucker at Tilted Kilts

We’re 8 days away anyone else staying at the Homewood Suites in Fogelsville? I was booked at the Days Inn by the airport then read a review stating bed bugs. I cancelled that reservation faster than a Neptune in high tap.

Friggin gas prices keep rising, glad I filled up before this latest jump. For those pulling a trailer I find the Exxon at Exit 7 in NJ on 78 the best bet with plenty of turn room,

I must be missing something, I went to the Pinfest Home Page and the site map I was unable to locate. I was looking for the vendor locations and the flea market assignments to see where I am assigned this year.

Any help, a hyper link specifically, would be much appreciated.

I'm prepping my games for Allentown. Based on my experience at TPF this year I am adding this sensor (via Arduino) to my slam tilt switch:

It's a "noxious gas sensor;" trip this while playing and its game over!

I am a newbie member to Pinside and the collecting community. Just started collecting some arcade games this year. Went to a party a month ago and my wife fell in love with an old pinball machine. Now we are looking to pick up a machine. I am learning about arcade repair and know little about pinball, but eager to learn. We live just south of Baltimore so planning on taking the almost 3hr trip up to Allentown. Obviously, it will be my first Pinball convention.

Hopefully you guys won't mind answering a few questions

Not sure if I will be bringing a Subaru Forrester (04) or may rent a minivan. Either one should fit a machine for the ride home. If (when) I decide to buy one, do I bring cash, or just do PayPal on the spot?

Do I need to bring tools and a dolly to get the machine in the vehicle? If so, what would be a good selection of the correct tools?

Compared to arcade games, I am still in sticker shock with regard to pinball machines. I am happy at $500, OK at $1,000 and groaning at $1500. We are actually looking for early to mid 80's, in working condition, solid state games. Are my finances just out of reality for the market? It is difficult for me to tell when I see the same game go for $750 one time and $3,000 the next. I look up the prices in the game section here, but the Classified's are listed for so much higher.

Assuming my financial range is feasible, any thoughts on fun first games? The one my wife loved was Bally - Lost World.

Any other tips for a first timer?

I apologize for the inquisition and thank you for your help. Pinside is on my daily reading list but with Pinfest a week away, I feel like I need assistance climbing the learning curve.

You will have no problem getting a machine in the forester. There are plenty of people with carts that will help you load it up. They will have the tools on hand as well, because they had to use them to get them there and set them up.

Bring cash, many people won't accept paypal or checks.

$1k-2k will probably find you many early 80s

Bring some padding/etc to make sure the machine doesn't slide around once you get it packed.

Cash. Definitely cash. Though, I can't see the harm to do a "friends and family" transfer on the spot. Biggest risk in Paypal would be convincing the seller you won't do a chargeback once you get the game, though I think that's not possible with friends and family. It might be overall safer than carrying a wad of cash in your car or pocket. I'd be curious to hear what others think of this.

Looks like I'm heading to Allentown. 18 hour round trip. I'm meeting someone that is bringing down a machine for me.

Question is do I book a room at Ramada and party with you guys Friday. Or try to endure the full 18 hours in one day and only come Saturday.

This is the HOTEL thread of course you should get a room and party at the Ramada! All honesty here 18 hours of driving in one day is possible if you tag team it. By yourself it’s asking for a car wreck. Be safe live to flip
Another day.

Double echo the padding , aka movers blankets, foam, bubble wrap and cardboard. You need to eat up space in the Forester so the game doesn’t shift or get damaged. The cardboard protects your game and vehicle and if done correctly helps slide the pin in. Also a hunk of cardboard under the game before you tilt it forward off the hand truck. Stretch wrap is your friend if you happen to get a pin with a nice original cabinet. Bungee cords always come in handy. Foam over the game should save a window if you have to jam on the brakes or protect your hatch window.

Don’t be in a rush to buy but don’t be trigger shy Be Somewhere in between. People will help you load it’s in our nature. Sellers as others have stated have hand trucks with them.

Good luck hope you and the wife enjoy the show and find a pin priced fairly.

Cash and cash only imo.

Friends and family can be charged back easily via credit card. I won’t be taking pp or cc or check for anything I have for sale. Cash only and I use cash for what I buy!
Good luck on your purchase. Will be tons of stuff there to buy so have fun!

There will be a Lost World at the show in your price range. Sometimes games sell really quick, so it might be a good idea to reach out to this guy now and see if you can strike a deal before it sells.

This is the HOTEL thread of course you should get a room and party at the Ramada!

What's going on at the Ramada?

The biggest after party in the history of Pinfest. In past years we have always setup a game inside someone's room, pile in 20 people, drink, and play pinball. This year we decided to kick it up a notch. We made an arrangement with the hotel to reserve their lounge room for free for Pinsiders to setup multiple games after the show ends Friday night. Right now we have about 5 games committed to the room but will probably end up being a couple more.

Is there a curfew on this ?

Also are there any good actual bars close by?

No curfew. As for bars close by, the bar inside the Ramada serves until 2am. Our lounge room is connected to the bar. As for other bars, I'm not familiar with the area.

Cash is your friend as everyone has stated on here....bring it and you'll find yourself a nice deal. When you see prices on exact machines with a large gap in range it's bc of condition....have they been recently shopped, how is the PF, what needs work and doesn't need work, how is the cab holding up, any MODS installed, etc. You will have to decide what best suits what you are looking for and looking to spend. I always pay more for nicer pins that don't need any work...but that is a personal decision for each hobbyist. I like playing pinball way more than working on them.
I live south of BMORE as well so we are close...if I can help I will. I'll be at and around pinfest on Friday. Have fun with the hobby...that's what it's all about!

This is why I chose The Renaissance...four or five bars, Brewpubs, etc within walking distance....So don't have to worry about driving

If anyone is looking to kick off Pinfest weekend with a Bon Jovi concert on Wednesday night I have 4 tickets to see them at the PPL Center in downtown Allentown. $200 each. That is below face value. Comes with parking pass. Willing to trade for pinball machine or pinball related items. Can add cash as needed.

Any hopheads coming down from the Charlton, MA area? PM me if you want to trade some TreeHouse Brewery for a selection from Aslin Beer Co.

And it goes without saying to keep the drinks off the games.

If anyone is interested in a Johnny Mnemonic or a Stern Freefall, PM me. I'm looking to sell.

Asking $2750 for the JM ... it's in good shape minus the cabinet fade. Has LEDs. Clean. Plays great. Was shopped within the past year.

Open to offers on the Freefall. Backglass is very nice. Cabinet is average. Playfield is good ... no major wear. While its fine as a "players" machine, it should restore well if you want to make this rare classic Stern look new.

PM me if interested. I will have pics I can send out this weekend.
