The only thing I think would be awesome for next year is an area that looks like a old basement and has big couches and 80s and 90s movies playing, be a nice place to relax between games

Fantastic show. I got to play a lot of great games for the first time, bought a Pinstadium, and had just a blast.

Couple call outs: I don't know any of the folks who put it all together but huge props to Chuck. Had to have been a ton of stress and hard work.
The thing that really stood out to me was that the vast majority of the games were NOT for sale, they were just the well cared for and loved games in people's collections that they hauled out in the cold for strangers to play. Takes a certain type of person to inconvenience themselves like that just so someone else can have fun.

Doubt you'll want my Deadpool Pro, but I'm happy to lend a hand any way I can next year.

Best thing was that most games, including Houdini, Octoberfest, Beatles, Pirates, Dialed In, ACNC, Monster Bash remake had no lines or only had to wait for current player(s) to finish. This was because of the high percentage of attendees being in the various tournaments and limited ticket sales. For a non-tournament pinball enthusiast like myself, it was heaven. I played 4 games of Pirates and 3 games of ACNC back to back on Friday because no lines. Was the same with other popular games like MM, AFM, Maiden, Fathom, etc. Just a great balance for tourney people and the rest of us. Perfect format!

Pincinnati has been a fantastic show! I really appreciate the support that I've seen from all the local pinball enthusiasts. Here are my highlights so far:

    From the new pin area:

    1. Monster Bash Remake is gorgeous. The iterative process of CGC to re-imagine some of the best pins and make them better continues to impress me. I may have the wife on the hook for the MBr too!

    2. The Beatles pin takes everything great about Seawitch and improves it (especially if you like the Beatles theme). I found the re-designed loop shoot to be a great design change, and the optical spinners are very satisfying feel. I know many (including me) has been vociferous about the price but I really enjoyed everything game I played on it.

    3. Alice Cooper. Man, this game is not what I expected, but holy cow this is a fun pin. It took me a while to get a feel for the shots (and there's a lot of them), but it had a tremendously great feel with fun modes. Also, having SpookyCharlie close by to explain things was very helpful! Ha!

    4. Oktoberfest is the pin I played the least due to always been 2-3 people deep when I walked by. First, there's some challenging shots in the game (the left ramp from the top right flipper comes to mind immediately). Overall, I like the theme and I'm really hoping someone close by picks up this pin to play. My only "nitpick" is the oddity of going from Bavarian music to rock music. It's just a bit odd.

From those who brought games, here's the stand out for me:

    1. JJP POTC. Actual quote from last night. "I don't know what the hell I'm supposed to do or shoot, but man I'm having fun." Beautiful game.

    2. Dipsy Doodle. One of my favorite EMs. Almost rolled it last night. Nothing beats the doodle bug.

    3. @gryszzz's ACDC. I mean, it's Gryszzz so what's not to like?

    4. Larry & Phoebe's awesome collection with battle pins and the prettiest Fathom you'll ever see.

Thanks again to Jjsmooth and chuckwurt and all the other volunteers who helped put this on. I can't wait to next year!

Not sure who is who in this picture, but the lady to the far right FREAKIN' DESTROYED Ghostbusters next to me while my son and I were playing the Aerosmith next to it. First time I've ever seen we came we saw mode.

That’s Linsey! She is no slouch that’s for sure.

Enjoy it for now. Just like the Louisville show and TPF, as this show gets more popular, people will come by the droves. People talk about how back in like 2012, TPF was VERY thin, you could walk up to nearly any game and hit "Start". Now, woo whee, get ready to wait. If it has a DMD or newer, you're waiting whether it's the next $20K game in 2019 or a Gottlieb SMB.

    Quoted from comment23:

Oktoberfest is the pin I played the least due to always been 2-3 people deep when I walked by.

LOL, dude, KingPin was 20+ deep at TPF. Prolly a solid 10+ deep on POTCJJP and "the sky's the limit" on ACNC as it was revealed right there at the show. Sounds like this show was super nice - speaks so well for the organizers.

Erik has been smart and kept the show feeling nice and open with limited ticket sales, which is a super awesome move. TPF is - best of my knowledge - unlimited # of tickets, and the congestion at that show is pretty apparent.

Sorry, Erik, that I couldn't make it. Once Scott got injured, that sealed the deal as I didn't feel right about one of us being able to make it and the other being stuck at home. Maybe next year. The drive will be worth it - that's for sure! If it's any solace to you, I spent almost 22 hours between Wednesday and Thursday finishing that Master's class project, so it did work out in the end...!

Next year, I plan to be there. Hope to see you in Pinburgh 2019 as well!!

That wasn't a complaint on my part. I spent most of my time volunteering at the event so I couldn't make my way back there.

As others have already posted, great job with the show guys, especially for the first year. Looking forward to attending again next year.

    Had a very enjoyable weekend!

    Quoted from ZMeny:

... And sorry FXDawg didn’t see you. Would have been happy to sign your tee thanks again for the support! I’ll shower you with gifts next time I see ya buddy.

yeah, not entirely your fault buddy. we didn't get there as early as we had planned on Friday, so you were gone by then. Then on Saturday we were up late Friday night, so slept in way too late on Saturday. By the time we got down to the show, you had went out for food!

I will definitely catch you at the next one.

Nice meeting you buddy. Don’t let ya forget next year if you still wanted to bring some games. Would be nice to add some more awesome collectors to our club!

I think I speak for most of the cinci community - hats off to you and jjsmoth for having the foresight and guts to make this show a reality. There was always talk of a show for years, but it take a ton of commitment and hard work to pull it off.

    WELL DONE!

    #420 5 years ago

Erik and I cannot possibly thank our local community enough for their generosity and hard. work. It was our trust of their dedication that allowed us to pursue this.
We already look forward to next year.
And major thanks to the guys that came from Columbus and Louisville for their awesome support.
And most of all, thanks Gryszz for your attendance.

    #421 5 years ago

My back is killing me, but all games tucked away back in my basement. I will get a different selection next year just for fun.

Great show. Layout of the floor was perfect. Size matched the number of games and people milling around. Enough people, but not crowded. Pins in every area getting play.

    #422 5 years ago

I'll add my thanks to @Jjsmooth, @chuckwurt, Mark Pegram and his buddy Stan for the game transport, all the volunteers who dealt with tickets, and especially Mark Combs for the parts to help me get CV up and running again. Roy and everyone else I can't think of now for helping me drunkenly work on CV, etc. What a great, great time! Thanks again to @pincades, Nirmal and Barry for bringing the Houdinis and Oktoberfest, Charlie (great meeting you, your wife and your dog!!) for bringing TNA and ACNC (way better than I expected, well done!) and CGC for the beautiful MBR. Mostly though thanks to all my fellow local pinheads who brought their amazing games to the show to make this whole thing possible. If I forgot to thank anyone I sincerely apologize. Can't wait for next year!!

P.S. Thanks to Pins Mechanical, VPCabs, Arcade Legacy and all the other sponsors for making this thing possible.

Edit: how in the Flippin world did I forget to add my thanks to Trent for bringing The Beatles and all the other awesome new Sterns?!?! I actually had a few games on Star Wars Premium that weren't complete shit!

    #423 5 years ago

Man this show rocks! Everything was awesome! Well besides my game play on ACNC. I was super impressed with the condition of games.

Any streams planned for the show?

YouTube videos of all show streams:

Beatles video won’t play because of copyright rules. BS if you ask me.

    #425 5 years ago

Please post here if you want a show shirt. I need your first and last name and a shirt size. We will take orders until Xmas then have them made right after that.

    Thanks!

    #426 5 years ago

Man, I could not be more impressed with the weekend! Jerry, Erik and family really pulled off a stellar event. Thanks to Phoebe and Larry for always bringing great unique stuff. Thanks to Erik for moving your entire basement into the hotel for the weekend. Thanks to Jesse, Trent, Charlie, and all the other folks that brought new releases. Thanks to Brad for the VP Cabs. The vendor space was small but mighty. Nice to chat with Rusty and get some beautiful art. Special thanks to Chris (Rock Custom Pinball) for the replacement light strips and speaker light kit wires. Extra special thanks to my partner in crime, Gryszzz, for making sure the security staff were our best friends on Friday night. They just kept wanting to visit our room over and over again. This was an incredibly well put together show that felt more comfortable than most others I've attended. No games restricted to tournament only, and any games that went down were taken care of quickly. No rush to clear out games on Sunday (extremely cool). Got to see lots of good friends. Best part about the weekend: I got my Metallica back. Now I can scrub all the Chuckwurt off of her and make her mine again.

    #427 5 years ago

The layout was well thought through. The smaller walkways between machine rows dissuaded long lines at any machine. Of course having such an awesome community willing to bring so many high quality games helped too. Congrats to Erik and Jerry, I am just blown away at how you knocked this one out of the park! You looked cool and collected, and that is a testament to the ungodly hours of preparation you did prior to the show. Put your feet up this coming weekend for a job well done.

(Also a big thank you to those that stepped in when Scott went down to injury. How quickly you filled his spots on such short notice. Thank you!!!)

Wow. ViolinSteve, those are some of the best pinball event shots that I have ever seen. Thank you for posting these. Pretty much sums up the entire weekend and tells you everything that you need to know!

ok, now the pillow and blanket underneath the obnoxious ACDC machine makes sense. (LOL, jk) didn't realize that was the famous @Gryszzz machine and sleeping quarters... Although after HEARING you coming down the elevator at checkout, I should have put 2 and 2 together my friend! If I would have known, I would have said hello!

    That ACDC was freaking rockin!!

Now I can scrub all the Chuckwurt off of her and make her mine again.

Does Novus 2 work for that or do you need something stronger?

Novus 6 should do the trick.

The Triple Crown Trophy will be going back home with us this year, but maybe YOU can be the top player of the weekend that wins ALL THREE tournaments next year?!?

Being in the top 16 of 64 in any event is something to be proud of imo. We definitely had some heavy hitters there this weekend too. Thanks for playing!

Thanks for bringing Big Game. It played really fast. Hopefully, mine will be up and running one day.

Our pleasure man. We just met with the hotel and we are 99% sure we will be there again next year. We asked them if there were any complaints, they said, "well there was only one complaint. Someone was really loud Friday night and got lots of noise complaints." Me and Jerry both looked at each other and smiled and said, "Griz!" hahahaha.
