FYI - there is another room of tournament games

What area of the hotel is this tournament area? Lobby? Very different. I hope all that attend enjoy the show. I need to put this show higher on the list for next year.

    #1706 1 year ago

Lobby yes. Can’t miss it. Only tournament next to a waterfall too. Haha

Well, dammit....now I want a Time Fantasy. UV mode is pretty neat.

Glad you enjoyed it! Just so you know, UV mode is a one-off exclusive: I hand-painted the entire thing with paint I mixed myself, and a kind code genius tweaked the game rom to enable the new/added light relay on cue (all well before stern stranger things uv was released, I feel compelled to point out).

Standard TF is still remarkably fun for being so simple. Sometimes a no fuss basic game scratches the itch, I wanted one the first time I played Phoebe's in 2016.

Lots of cool things to play at this show tho. For me that Stargazer is not to be missed, and Lee's Getaway is always a standout. And it all evolved form Signal Jr and friends...

I was impressed with his art work when he posted on pinside. Better in person. It takes a lot to impress me. I do have few suggestions if you want to know. Thanks for helping me out on my twister machine.

GREAT show Friday! Between Tilt and F.O., there was always a new Stern game open to play. Enough games from the boutique makers, too. Not sure I saw a Led Zeppelin or some older JJPs. No Weird Al. Never had to wait to play a game. It was busiest late afternoon and opened up even more in the evening because of tournament and socializing. Still love TNA in it’s current form. It was often open to play at the Spooky area. Heard rumor that Spooky will announce new game today. The real highlight may have been the wonderfully restored games. I particularly enjoyed several early 80’s games.Thought it was near perfect day for casual players like me—until I saw some coveted games in the roped off tournament area (which is centrally located in the hotel’s atrium lobby, on the way to the bar.) Hotel is just the right size for the event. I drove home, so I can’t comment on the sleeping rooms. Decent bar, but most seemed to be walking with BYOB. A few vendors. Not much room for more of them. A major tip of the hat to the organizers!

    #1714 1 year ago

That means a lot! Thank you!

We should have a food truck here today to help with food options. K believe they will be here around 2pm and setup just outside the hotel.

    See everyone soon!!

    #1715 1 year ago

Weird Al is there. It’s just hard to spot because the cabinet doesn’t have the artwork panels yet. It’s close to the main room entrance.

    WAKE UP!!

    PLEASE READ.

There has been a brown out in the area of Eastgate OH where the show is located. We have no power at the moment. Estimated time of repair is 12:45 est from Duke Energy.

Please be patient as we try to fix this.

We are so sorry for the inconvenience.

    #1718 1 year ago

Just out of curiosity, what price are dealers charging for the new Stern Pros that are being used as demos during the show and sold right after?

    #1719 1 year ago
    Quoted from Gunnut40:

Thanks for helping me out on my twister machine.

No problem, I hope we keep that motor intact. But I haven't gotten to play it yet! Been a poplar one, players every time I walk by. Plays better than the Whirlwind here too so naderheads , get your fix.

    -------------

For those who asked, looks like Precision Flippers are installed on the restored Stargate on the back wall. They do indeed make a big difference in feel! Fwiw though, the unrestored Stargate a row over is sloped and tuned better, and thus is the better player... BUT the flippers are notably different between the two.

Thats a really really amazing machine. That machine and the super clean Getaway were my personal favorites. That Getaway was my favorite last year too. It looks like the DMD was custom done and the way it's lit is superb.

That's awesome man, nice work. I'm in Louisville, so if you ever need to raise some quick cash to get the IRS off your back, look me up Love how it's NOT easy to trigger...I turned it on three games in a row, found my friends to CHECK THIS OUT and then couldn't get it in again, lol

I put a bunch of time on that stargazer too, now on my list as well. Made me decide I'm gonna have to clear coat my seawitch cab when whenever I get to redoing it.

Thanks for the kind comments on my Getaway. It’s probably our family’s favorite. The DMD is from ColorDMD (LED version).

For anyone wanting food. Walked to mall, auntie Annie's has pretzel bites cooked so it's something. Most of mall is closed but few stores open.

I’m getting ready to eat my peanut butter sandwich in my car. At least that’s still available!

As a tournament/show organizer Erik and company have my greatest sympathies and support! Pretty much the worst-case scenario.

Good luck guys I hope you get this moving again soon!

Yeah, I haven't seen him today but chuckwurt is probably losing his mind, he lives for this weekend and he, Jjsmooth and others put so much time and effort into it. Come on Duke Energy, get some electrons flowing again!

Tell Duke someone is bound to have a spare wiring harness if that helps...

    #1738 1 year ago

Hey. I learned something new today. How to poop in the dark!!

    Lol

Hang in there guys. And I feel really bad for Mr. Erik. Hopefully lots of understanding folks in the building.

When the power is back are you guys going to keep the tournament going till sunrise?

Whatever it takes within reason. There no time we have to stop.

    When the power is back

I would turn all the games off. And turn them on when power is restored and stable, not going on and off.
