Quoted from Whysnow:I think they have said the practice games are very limited (compared to PAPA where there are lots of practice games)?
I am not sure but I get the impression that pinburgh uses a good chunk of the games for competition?
I can confirm this is correct. During Pinburgh, the facility's primary focus is on the tournament, which is a very large endeavor. We use approximately half of the facility space-wise and 235-245 games for the event, which runs Friday and Saturday with final rounds on Sunday. Tournament machines will be only available for tournament use while the tournament is in progress.
Over 200 games will be available in the practice bank, including a number of duplicates of games in the tournament. Not every game has a duplicate, however, so it is very possible a specific game you would like to play will be off-limits to you for a portion of the weekend.
During the PAPA World Championships in August, we only use 65 games for the tournament itself, meaning the practice bank doubles in size.
A tentative schedule for Pinburgh will be the following:
March 27th, Thursday - Circuit Final - The Circuit finals will be taking place. All Pinburgh tournament games will be available for a few hours in the afternoon for general player testing and play. We will also likely run a pingolf tournament this evening for charity.
March 28, Friday - Solid day of Pinburgh qualifying. Tournament games are only available to the groups of players selected to play them. Practice bank will have 200+ available.
March 29, Saturday - Solid day of Pinburgh qualifying. Tournament games are only available to the groups of players selected to play them. Practice bank will have 200+ available.
March 30, Sunday - Final rounds begin in the morning and run into the afternoon. A consolation tournament, with prize money, for any player who did not make the final rounds of the main event will take place on a portion of the tournament games not in use for the finals. Once final rounds end, the after-party will begin, and players are welcome to play all games in the facility to their heart's content until the wee hours of the morning. We also typically have some type of additional WPPR-tournament Sunday evening for the players who remain at the facility.
