So I have a very small collection and there is a nice Pin*Bot for sale for a reasonable price. I have it on my wishlist and since money is an object preventing me from getting other things currently on my wishlist. I’m wondering if Pin*Bot is worth adding right now. Given my current collection, I am worried I might get bored with it quickly as I already have the Bride and I’m a little bit worried it may be too similar to add before adding others first. Any input on this?

IMO Pinbot is better than Bride (that’s basically a 1 shot game .. shoot the ramp all day long)

It’s better than 911

And equal to Bad Cats.

So I would buy it.

And sell 911.

#3 4 years ago

Yeah. 911 doesn’t do much for me. I’m actually working on getting the helicopter working again. Haven’t had a chance to look at it yet but I’m betting it’s the connector between the driveshaft that’s broken. I can still hear the motor going so I know it’s working there. I’m just worried I’d have trouble selling the thing on here. I’ve seen 2 for sale that are within the “fair” price range and not getting any bites.

I share the same sentiments as rotordave
It's better than bride and rescue 911
I think its much better than bad cats as well.

Pinbot is a very underrated game (if that's possible for a game consistently in the inside top 100)

I’ve played pinbot and I do think it’s a very fun game. Just haven’t had much time on it since it’s in an arcade and $1 goes pretty quickly down the left drain. There were a few times the ball rolled all the way down from the Vortex ramp and straight down the left out lane. But then I also had some very good games on it. I enjoyed it enough to add to my wishlist. Didn’t know if I should go for it or try and wait for a Funhouse or WH20 to hopefully come for a decent price.

All great games. Of course, pinbots are around 2k whereas funhouses go for 4k and up and WH20s are 5k and up. That's a big price difference.

If you can play more of each and get a feeling for them, it would behoove you to do so. If not, you should try and watch online videos of each to see which you prefer.

The only one that I can’t access publicly is Funhouse. I have a hoot on White Water at the same place I play PinBot but yeah pretty big price difference. Funhouse looks really fun but not being able to play it makes me a little more hesitant to drop as much money as they are going for these days.

It’s THE most iconic machine ever made.

It’s you vs the machine. It’s a freakin masterpiece.

Buy now.

When dialed in pinbot is a very difficult game and def has that one more game feeling whenever I play it

Totally agree.

I’ve had 2 pinbots. I’ve never once reached the sun. And it’s a simple game but really quite difficult.

Short game times and always pressing the start button for more.

A most excellent title from the alpha numeric era! Music, speech multiball action , can't go wrong.

#12 4 years ago

I know where there is a super nice, reasonably priced pinbot very close to you.

Agreeing with you and dave completely, buy the game and worry about selling 911 later,a really fair deal on this calibur of game can be rare and its close by...id be jumping on it,pinbot will be your best game imo

I love Pin-Bot it outlasted all other pins . I finally sold after owning 25 years.

Great game, I got to the sun probably because of extra balls based on scoring.

#15 4 years ago

(Pinbot) bros before hoes (bride).

#16 4 years ago

I miss my PinBot, first game I ever did any type of restoration on.
One day I will own it again...

#17 4 years ago

Buy Pinbot!

#18 4 years ago

Hold out for Jack-bot - much better, much deeper rules, 3-ball multiball, Casino Run, etc. By far the best of the Pinbot trilogy!

That wasn’t the question though.

The poster has a lead on a Pinbot.

Same here.

Owned both. Sold both. Repurchased pinbot. Not leaving again.

Awesome game.

I own Pinbot and his Bride, they are a matched set, and I am only going to break them up if the wife and I ever split up (unlikely since we are on a 30 year bliss streak so far... knock on cheap, dimpled, water-based clear-coated wood) and she gets the Bride and I get the groom... But my wife made me wait to buy Pinbot instead of buying a Sorcerer some 25 years ago, and OMG am I glad she did. This is a no-brainer if you like a nice semi flatwood, multi-level, 2 ball multiball SS alpha numeric from the 80’s... it was top of the line at the time, sold like 12k or so units, and continues to hold your interest in a 6-7 machine collection. And it was featured in the Tom Hanks movie “Big” so there is that as well... Pinbot also had the best original music score in a pinball machine for a VERY LONG TIME. I never get tired of the High Score initials entry music, we always turn out the room lights and watch the high score light show and listen to the music all the way through by entering my last initial but not pressing the credit button...

All depends what the "reasonable price" is, to me anyway. I wouldn't mind owning one but with people asking $2K+ there are just better games for the money to me personally.

#24 4 years ago

Pinbot is iconic and a better game than bride, and JackBot is better than both of them.

#25 4 years ago

Pinbot and Bride don't play similarly at all, and I agree that Pinbot is the better of the two games. I think it's the best System 11, and it's actually one of my favorite games of all time. If you can pick one up at a reasonable price, you should absolutely got for it. Just bear in mind that Pinbot is a VERY difficult game. The side drains are brutal.

#26 4 years ago

Other than the cosmetic theme, and both being alphanumeric, they're completely different machines. Like everybody else has said, pinbot is a superior game to most people. A lot of long technical shots to hit, and can be obscenely difficult.

Bride has the great sound package, has a more flashy and shiny presentation, and is more accessible to non-pinball people due to rules and the ramp shot.

No need at all to worry about them being too similar, they're actually very far apart.

Agreed.

I used to have Taxi a notch above it, but have since reconsidered. Pinbot is king.

Pinbot, Taxi, WW... the rest.

Pinbot
WW

Taxi

Get it!!!

Pinbot is 10x better than bride.
And plays completely different.
I had a bop and pinbot at one point and pinbot was my go to game.
I've have owned pinbot twice so far. Looking for another to keep this time.
It's one game I regret selling.

So many cliche titles!

(Jk by the way ...)

I’m not a list guy, but there are so many great SYS11s. In fact, probably 20 of the 30 SYS11s are great machines.

F14 Tomcat
High Speed
Mousin Around
Jokerz is very underrated
Elvira
Banzai Run
Radical
Diner (better than Taxi, there, I said it ...)

The list goes on and on ...

No, Jokerz is probably the worst of the system 11’s.
The double your score on the 3rd ball kills it, and besides that it’s just boring to play.

Taxi, Banzai and Whirlwind are at the top of the 11 list.

Come play my one. Might change your mind. (Might not, too...)

Fixed 4m jackpot. Recessed “lift ramp” target. Real risk and reward. Risk going for Jackpot, or build up card values. Shoot the left ramp to build the ramp jackpot and shoot the right ramp to claim it for up to 500k. Wail on the 3 banks of drop targets to go for 1m. There’s a lot of shit to do in that game that most people don’t know about.

It’s one of me and Dannis go-to games when we want to face off. Lol.

“Double your score” adds incredible LOL moments to our games. You can probably disable it - but I like it. Adds real spice to multiplayer games.

If fact (spoiler alert) it is going to be one of the games in the 2020 World System 11 Championships.

Taxi, high speed, diner, pinbot, and eatpm are my favorites (in no particular order)

I will give banzai run, big guns, sof, ww, and cyclone honorable mention.

#36 4 years ago

get a jackbot, more ways to play . pinbot and bride are one dimensional.

#37 4 years ago

I wanted (and still want, actually) a Jackbot to complete the trilogy trifecta, however, having two machines with the exact same playfield layout in a 6 machine collection was a dealbuster for the wife... she looked at it and said, “it’s just Pinbot with a DMD and a crappy casino theme...” so that pretty much sealed the deal on getting a Jackbot, no matter how many times I have tried to convince her otherwise, nor how many JB owners have told her it is a totally different playing game. And I will admit, I enjoy JB a lot more than Pinbot for a different challenge, however the point bloat on the machine plus the wagering and payout elements make it a little of a mixed bag and runs close to unwanted/unliked rules like that embarrassing BBBB...
