I have two pinball machines, jackbot and BoP. Just happened to be so. My first was jackbot that I bought more or less at random since I wanted a pinball machine. Only thing I had decided was I wanted a DMD machine with multiball and some cool theme. When I found jackbot I bought it. Then I bought BoP. Was looking for a machine to restore and it just happened to be the second of the pinbot series. I had it on my want list too but never thought it would be my next one.

Now for the question. I am planning to keep these two since I really like them but I wonder if its worth looking for the original pinbot too? I mean its not that different from JB playfield wise and the gameplay is rather similar except for the deeper rules of JB etc. so for me to play it does not feel too important to get but collection wise it seem to be a good idea. Would be nice to have all three. Also in the future if I need money maybe all three would be worth more together.
What do you guys think? Try to get pinbot to complete the series or just let it be and focus on something more fun to play. Subjective but anyway.. My collection won't be huge since I have limited room so maybe a total of 6-10 machines is what I imagine I could stack before its enough =)

If your collection is small I would stay away personally.
I had much the same idea as you. I had a BoP and immediately went hunting for a jackbot. I had the jackbot for 2 months and it was very "meh" to me. But it looked so nice next to Bride! But away it went. Never had any interest in Pin*Bot till I got my hands on one at York last year. Realized how different it was than the other games. Now Bride is gone (but I miss her..) and Jackbot is gone (don't miss him) and Pin*Bot is around. They are all somewhat unique games, but I didn't see much benefit from having the trifecta personally.

Pinbot and jackbot are pretty similar except one is focused around betting.......would be nice to have all 3, but it is properly not worth it in the end.

Pinbot & bride of pinbot YES just because its cool

But adding jackbot?

Jackbot is all anyone needs out of the bot trilogy.

yeah, i'd just go with either jackbot or pinbot, not both. haven't played jackbot, but from what i've read, it's very similar. i'd only do it if i had crazy money and space and didn't have to worry about either.

That was the direction I went in.

You need one of these to claim a trilogy.

If you're only planning on having 6-10 machines, get something with a different playfield layout then Pinbot. The ruleset being totally different does really change the game, but not enough to make it worth it just to own all three.

Ive been thinking the same, would be more worth (to me) to get something else than pinbot. Even thought it would be nice to have all three. If i stumble across one cheap i might get it but i wont be looking for it actively. First i need to get the BoP working and then i want another restoration project. Does not matter what, i wanna repair! =) then sell it and maybe get something i really want.

Thanks for sharing your opinions!

Thats one way to get people to pay attention to your pinball machines....

"Can I get a beer?"

"Sure, right over there"

I'll have to try that with the wife and maybe make a backbox out of a safe with money in it, or maybe a shoe rack.

Wonder what the bonus multiplier does on that thing.

Don't forget Pinbot is in Taxi, too!

I'd have the original IMO.

Pinbot has the best lights and sounds in pinball in my opinion. I love it. I have the whole trilogy, I wanted it for years and it will never be broken up. Funny thing about jackbot is when it came out I hated it because of the bad porno music and I thought "why does the world need a sub-par pinbot reskin" but later when one fell into my lap and I got to really know the rules of the game, it is awesome. The rules totally make the game. Casino Run is a total blast and that mega visor is hard to attain and I still have yet to complete it!

I still say my idea of a combo rom in a Jackbot is the way to go. That way a person could own a Bride and a Jackbot and get a Pinbot thrown in with no loss of space.

I really need to get working on that project.

IMO I think a Jackbot machine with a Pinbot playfield, and some original side art, running Pinbot/Jackbot combo rom would be the ultimate.

Why Williams not think of this when building Jackbot is beyond me. They could have had a Pinbot 10 year reunion, and made two games in one. Having 1 a proven winner.

A combo would be awesome provided you can get the sounds from the original Pinbot in there.

Pinbot kicks A. If you have the space and the $, get one.
