I have a Pinbot has been in my family since the late 80's. As of lately I've been messing around with it and trying to fix a few problems. I had a small issue with the batteries where one terminal was corroded. I was able to file and fix. I later installed remote batteries. I have upgraded to led bulbs also. The biggest issue besides some broken plastic is the up ramp that fires often. I have searched for answers and looked at the switches in the visor. They appear to connected correctly and secure. They also respond when I manually move them when testing switches.
I'm questioning the 44 switch underneath the ramp. When I'm in the switch test and manually move the lever, I don't get any response. All other switches register when touched. Could this be my issue?
When the ramp is in the up position and illuminated it is solid. I don't think there is a problem with the catch on the ramp. The plastic next to the lever has been broken forever and from what I can tell that is very common. I would like to get new plastic but also don't want it to get broken. The lever seems loose to me but I don't have any reference.

Thank you for any advice.

Quoted from PinCrazy21:

Could this be my issue?

Yes. Bad switch. Broken wire from switch to other switches, connectors, along the way to the board in the head.

Check that board carefully for battery damage in the area and under the battery holder.

The switch does not appear to be easily found. Can they be repaired? I will remove it and try to test. Any thoughts of what to look for in a faulty switch. Maybe I can use parts from another to make a good one. Thanks.

Leaf blade ? Easy to straighten, clean blades, etc.

Micro mini - chuck it and get a new one, if testing with a meter shows it to be bad. Save metal actuator in case it's an odd ball one, snap on new micro switch body.

Well... I found my problem. When I was removing the switch I noticed the solder on the diode was broken. I used a meter to test switch and find out if it was ok and tested fine. Soldered diode back to switch and played. The ramp does not jump anymore. That's awesome. Its probably done that for years. Not too much more to do besides cleaning and replacing a few parts. The machine plays great.
