So I was watching a few videos tonight on pinbot and heard some sounds/music and programming that I don't think I've ever heard from my game. I checked and I am only running cpu version 3. I saw there is a 5. Is there a significant difference with the newer version. Just wondering if that's my problem and I need to get the new rom.

Anyone have an answer?
So looking a few things over to restore my pinbot. Noticed these hinges and the plywood for the neck of the backbox. I'm pretty certain that it is not original and was repaired at some point. Can anyone confirm the hinges and plywood. Maybe have a picture of what the hinges are suppose to be for this game? Thanks!

So regarding solar value, should that reset each game? I feel like mine builds over multiple games. Maybe there is a setting to adjust that?
Quoted from statictrance:I'd bet that your solar value will build until it tops out at 4 million. There is no setting to turn this off - you need to burn or obtain a copy of the hacked ROMs for Pinbot. These reset jackpot ROMs exist for a number of different Sys 11 games. (I have burned and installed them in my Pinbot... plan to put them in my Swords of Fury next).
So how would one go about obtaining said roms?
I've never seen a pinbot with a translight....mine has a backglass that is original to my best knowledge
Quoted from Yesh23:Is anyone making reproduction spiral ramps?
Also, I just picked up a 2nd Pinbot and the background music is from Space Station. Could anyone help me as to what ROM I need to switch out? I see there's 2 on the MPU but they're labeled Pinbot and I do get the Pinbot vocal sounds/etc. It's just the background music.
Check Ebay. From time to time there is a red spiral ramp for pinbot. Seller posts them regularly. They come with the stickers and steel ramp flaps as well.
Quoted from JFink8222:Could still really use some help if someone has answers. I’ve tried just about everything and can’t get it to work.
My 5 right bank targets and blue solar ride ramp switches are not working. I’ve traced all wires (green/black) and everything is good to go connected to the board on the IJ8 pin. Nothing burnt and all fuses are fine.
On page 65 of the manual, it’s the column 5 on the bottom chart of the switch-matrix table.
Please help!
Is the whole column not working? I've had it before where the wires look right but were actually reversed on the switch. You need to check each one. I'm no expert but it's something I noticed after I racked my brain for hours. I always think which one looks different with dealing with a matrix. They are complicated but usually simple to fix.
For those of you that have used the grid decal and insert decals are they easy to install? I saw some on Ebay and wondering if these are a quality product? Also, would I be able to lay clearcoat on top of them? Just wondering if this would be easier than trying to touch up that area with paint and save some time going the decal route. Thanks
Anyone know where to purchase the support posts for the blue ramp along the back and what size they are? They are the posts that come up they the plastic on the outside of the ramp.
Quoted from Brunsie:I just happened to have my ramp off and got measurements for the posts. Starting at the top of the ramp (left) and working around to the last post before the top playfield (right)(: 2-3/4, 2-15/16, 3-3/8, 3-1/2, 3-5/16, 3-1/16
Hey thanks! Exactly what I needed!
Quoted from jibmums:Question for owners who have previously disassembled/reassembled their games: when I took my Pinbot apart, the uppermost rear plastic, the one that covers the blue ramp, had either two or three short black plastic spacers sandwiched between this plastic and the blue ramp. There are three screws that hold this plastic down though, and I can't for the life of me remember if each screw had a spacer (which means I'm missing one) or if only two of them did, and then which two it would be. Can anyone help?
The plastic should be straight and able to clear the glass. I recently put mine back together and played around with different spacers until I got it right. I used some nylon spacers you can buy at the hardware store. I know that's not real specific but first you have to ensure you have the right posts along the back. I had to replace all of mine as they were wrong.
Alright I'm stuck in my diagnosis. My pinbot was not working when I picked it up. Ran thru the board and found Q79, Q77, and Q33 to be bad. I also has a resistor at R110 to be bad as well. I also changed out the bus at SR19 as it wasn't testing right. Upon startup, I am blowing F4 as well as the 2.5 fuse under the playfield. I am also blowing one of the 5am sb for the GI (the stack of 4 fuses in the backbox). I've been thru the playfield 100 times and can't find anything shorted. Is the anything I missed on the board that could be locking a coil on or something?
Quoted from GRUMPY:You need to check the coil and diode for each of the bad transistors you found that are bad. Most likely the diode on the coils is shorted which will stress the new transistor which causes them to short again. So in the future you need to replace the diode and transistor as a set.
As for the GI fuse that burnt, which color GI string wire is it? If it is brown or green then you need to look in the backbox for the short.
It is the yellow/white. Alright, I will get to checking diodes and report back
