Hi guys, I'm considering to buy the PINBOT pinball because the price and quality seems to be OK. The problem is that I've never played this machine. Do you think that I would enjoy plaing it? I know the answer is not so easy (you do not know me) but please try advise me a bit.

Quoted from PM_Jeremy:

[...] Pinbot is my "desert island" pin. They made a ton of them.

Excuse me, I need to ask you somethning I've never heard the sentence like this, is it a slang? What is the meaning: negative or positive?

"They made a ton of them" - a lot of machines was made because they were excellent, and Williams could sell a lot of machines?
"desert island" - the place where you can be alone and rest, far away form family and you boss?

I think it's used in a good way but I want to be sure

Hi, I'm still concidering buying the PINBOT. One guy told me that I would be bored playing it quickly. Do you think the rules are not complicated enough and I would really have small hours of fun?

#3273 5 years ago

Hi Guys again! In a few days I'm going to go, test Pinbot and I hope buy it... At the moment the only one photo I have you can see below. Maybe it's possible to notice something bad on it? If yes please let me know. Anyway I'll be testing and watchnig it myself...

Hi Guys! 2 days ago I bought the Pinbot pinball machine and I hope it won’t turn out the worst decision in my life 
During watching and testing the machine I was so excited and nervous that I didn’t notice obvious defects of the machine. I noticed them at home 
Next time I’d like to take some photos of those defects and put them to this site, would it be OK for you? Can you judge if there’s a hope to repair them all (I’m an absolutely pinball beginner)?

Quoted from RCA1:

Maybe start a new thread, and put a post in here linking to that.

Thanks!

There's the third ball inside the cabinet. For what is it needed?

Hello guys! I've heard that useing wrong leds would cause serious damages in a pinball machine. Is it true? Can I get your opinion whether I chose right leds for Pinbot's chest grid?

Hello Guys,
I own my first pinball machine (Pinbot ’86) and I’m not experienced in it. In order to avoid any mistakes and defects I must ask you a few questions how to clean the surface of the playfield. Can I use classic cleaning supplies dedicated to furniture? The same question is referred to wax.
Is there any reason that I must use the cleaning supplies and waxes dedicated to pinball machines (they are more expensive)?

#3527 4 years ago
Quoted from ReadyPO:

I would look at VID's Guide to Cleaning and Waxing Pinball Machines - a good place to start.

Thank you very much!

Quoted from jibmums:

Today I pulled out the visor motor assembly to clean it up, and the bushing on the cam was stuck fast to the stud with dried gunk. A little warming with a hair dryer and I was able to remove it, and now that it and the stud are cleaned up it turns freely again. Is this part supposed to be lubed at all? If so I'll add a touch of Super Lube, but my guess is it's supposed to remain dry.
[quoted image]

I've recently used just a little bit of lubricant because it didn't turn freely. Anyway you should know that on my device there's a sticker like this:

Could you judge if I chosed good leds for Visor 5x5 grid (I also chosed the orange one)? Would they be fine?

#3553 4 years ago
Quoted from DesertPinGuy:

A lot of folks, including myself, have been disappointed with yellow leds. They just don't project well. The color inserts on the pinbot 5x5 grid are so nice you can't go wrong with doing all white leds. The color levels will be equal and vibrant.
Leds are always a manner of personal taste

OK! Should I chose frosted or ablaze? Which are nicer in your opinion?

#3554 4 years ago

The previous owner of the pinbot had apparently problem to replace the old leg screws I tried hard to remove them but it's not so easy - there's a big resistance. Can you advise me how to unbolt them?

#3563 4 years ago
Quoted from ReadyPO:

Maybe try locking pliers (szczypce blokujące?) on the end. I would use some WD-40 penetrating oil on the bolt first, let it soak in for 15 minutes.

Thanks a lot for trying writing in Polish
Anyway I think I understand English quite well.

#3570 4 years ago

I can't understand why this sound occured. It started afer I changed a few bulbs to leds. But I don't know what leds have to do with this sound... Do you have any ideas? When I play this sound is all the time played and annoys me.

#3573 4 years ago
Quoted from PM_Jeremy:

Is that the sound the ball makes when it leaves the shooter lane?

I think so...

#3575 4 years ago
Quoted from PM_Jeremy:

Perhaps the lane switch is going wonky?

Thanks a lot mate! I've just find the reason of this sound. You were right, the lane switch was wonky, I've just fixed it. It seems to be strange for me, I haven't done anything in that place recently, I don't understand why it was wonky.

Hi! Before I bought the PINBOT one of the previous owners had removed a mylar from the 5x5 chest grid. I don't know why someone could do it, it seems to be silly and aimless. Anyway the result is that this area of playfield is much more damaged that the rest of it.
Can I get your advice how to repair it? I suppose that I hould regenerate the lackuer first and then regenerate mylar. At the moment I don't have any idea hot to start. The lack of the mylar is annoing to me.

Can you write for me what kind od device there is on the photo? Is it necessary for working the machine properly? I've no idea why someone cut the cables.

That is a large filter capacitor to smooth out the power. Did they add another one somewhere else? Can you post more pictures of the electronics in the backbox?

Here you are. I can take more photos if necessary.

I guys! I'm thinking about cleaning the playfield of my PINBOT. I've read Vid's Guide referred to this topic and I found out that the best cleaner for it is VM&P Naphta manufactured by Klean Strip.

I my country there's not possible to buy the procucts of this supplier that's why I need to ask you for advice.
In my country I'm able to buy product called "Nafta" which is used for cleaning tools, for traditional lamps (it's flammable) etc. It is petroleum product and smells terrebly. Do you think this is the same product and it's safe for my playfield?

Hello again! Recently the problem referred to the 5x5 grid has occurred. One of LED's lights stopped shining on the playfield. I checked the LED lamp and found everything is fine with it (I mounted it in other place on the grid and it works correctly).
Do you guys have any idea how to start looking for the reason of the problem and solve it?

Check the diode for this lamp.

I bought the multimeter and check this diode. Something seems to be wrong with this diode. Can you advise me what is the specs of this element? What kind of diode should I look for and buy?
