To properly fix this you have to pull out the switch and spoon assembly from underneath and carefully clean the contacts - nothing abrasive. Clean the spoon and plastic peg/pin. When reassembling make sure the spoon is centered on the peg. Then adjust the contact gap as close as you can without them touching. This will give the best pop action.

The three drop targets aren't always resetting.... some games they work fine and then randomly
when dropped just pulse like they are trying to reset.
I have taken it all apart and cleaned the mechanism and all looks well but the problem persists.
New solenoid needed?

Thanks!

#3403 5 years ago

I just had this problem myself. In my case the issue was a too-short coil sleeve (from a previous owner). A longer sleeve keeps the plunger straighter for less friction. Check the manual, it's something like over 2 inches long.

Quoted from lecter:

I have a problem reffered to one of bumpers. It sometimes works proprely but usually not. I try to show how it looks like one the movie and photos.
That can be a reason of the problem?

Looks like you need to adjust the switch cone underneath. See @vid1900 thread about how to rebuild pop bumpers:

I'd like to get your opinion on whether it's worth having both Pinbot and Bride of Pinbot. I currently have Pinbot and I love the 'fembot' theme of Bride, but is the game significantly different that owning both is not redundant? Jackbot looks just like pinbot, so I'm not thinking about getting one of those.

Opinions please?

#3406 5 years ago

I own Pinbot and Bride. I want a Jackbot, but the added casino theme was a negative, and really, it is a Bally/WMS 90’s treatment of an 80’s favorite that improved the depth using a gambling paradigm.

I bought my Bride because it was new, seemingly harder, and more fun than a Pinbot at the time. My recommendation for the 3 machine series is, if you need 1 pin from the series, get a Jackbot. Way deeper than the other two. Shoots better than Bride.

Pinbot- shoot the ramp, complete the chest, start multiball, lock eye, collect Solar Value, rinse, repeat.
Bride- just keep shooting the ramp until it lights billionaire club shot, rinse repeat.
Jackbot- casino run, mega visor... rinse repeat.

If you have a Bride, get the DP 2.0 upgrade if you can find one, it makes Bride more like a Jackbot or a later 90’s pin and deeper. Bride suffers from having to do too much without a mistake to get the billion shot, and then there is luck involved in the spinning wheel awards. It takes 10 shots up the ramp (without loosing a ball once in 2 ball multiball) to get her to spin the wheel and maybe light the billion point shot. She usually always lights it on the first spin, but not 100%... and then a center heart ramp shot to score the billion. She will never give out more than 8 Billion point shot awards, and will give a backdoor billion for a 10 loop combo, but the last billion (to turn her over) would require you to get 20 big wheel 50M awards, or play long enough to score it via points, something that will take some time.

I long time had BOP on my wish list as well. Not that much nowdays. I'd rather have something more different.

It's a great game still!

I always felt like they made The Machine: Bride of Pinbot a little pervy. The machine looks like a sex doll or something. It has all of those moaning call outs...it is just weird. Jack*Bot just has a dumb theme in my opinion. I love the original, but the sequels aren't really my cup of tea.

Everybody is a little different. I have owned all three and I rank them in the exact opposite order. I think Pinbot is timeless classic. The bride is a beautiful game but super easy and the billion point shot is just ehhh.... I hated jackbot. It played just fine but the theme was not my cup of tea. but that’s just me and what the heck do I know lol

In terms of the Bride having the billion point shot and that encourages ramp shot after ramp shot, can't it be set to downplay that situation? I've changed settings in a few of my pins (via the button on the inside of the coin door) to make the play more balanced.

I could agree with this if I were trying to maximize earnings or ballance her out for a tournament, but in a HUO environment, whats the point?, and what do you do to make it more balanced? Turn off extra balls? Because if you can’t join the billionairs club in three balls, it only takes usually 2 extra to get there. A five ball game BOP is not, and making it more difficult to turn her Human, or cranking down on the percentages in feature adjustments just means you chop wood longer to get the same payoff of turning her human... pretty boring, and she gets not a lot of love from me except to step up and have her solidly reject me for 10 games straight until she relents and lets me turn her human and get the billion shot... then I ignore her again for what seams like an eternity. Being the second machine I ever owned, the challenge of BOP wore through really fast, especially once you get the ball lock post adusted to release single balls at a time and you bump pass off the left flipper to the right flipper to up the ramp and you can play her all day. You turn on unlimited extra balls and My best score was a 9 billion plus and she stopped giving billion shots... I got the back door billion and quit playing because she would not give up the billion point award on the big wheel and so I plunged all my extra balls, put up my Billionaire Club score and pretty much stopped playing her. As far as challenging, Jackbot is harder, even though I hate the theme too, but it would satisfy my Pinbot playing urges and be harder than an Original Pinbot, but I dont see my matched set going anywhere, or a Jackbot coming home anytime soon either, Pinbot has too much sentimental value to sell him/her off.

I've wanted to get one of these units for my F-14 and Pin-bot but just wish the wiring instructions were better. I am no slouch when it comes to working with wiring diagrams and schematics and the instructions on the site just confuse me.

Quoted from RichWolfson:

No. The Inkochnito Bridge Board replaces the rectifiers, fuses the new ones and eliminates that large capacitor in the back box. The bridge board is IMO a must do for our machines particularly if the rectifiers have not been fused.
What we are talking about here are replacing parts on the power supply board that are now over 35 years old. And since the original parts are no longer available using upgrades and in one instance changing one part that will reduce the voltage to the displays extending their lives which is a good thing as it's not easy finding new glass displays these days.

I absolutely hear you. I had the board for months before I was comfortable doing the install. I didn't realize that the board actually floats and is held to the backbox with screws through holes through the rectifiers. The screws that hold in the old rectifiers worked perfectly and the board actually floats above the backboard.

Look at post #3310. I think there is everything you need there. That said, starting is the hardest part of this job. Just make sure when you clip the wires from the large cap and the 2 rectifiers, you clip them close to the cap and rectifiers and not on the connector side.

It was MUCH easier than I expected and for added safety if you want to post a picture before you turn it on, Peter will give you his personal "it looks OK" and as Grumpy says, we're all here to help.

Go for it. You will not be sorry. Then after that, the fuse board for your special solenoids should be next. <G>

Awww, sh-t! I just installed the Inkochnito board as you had illustrated, and I've got a problem. I ended up with two extra lengths of wire that I believe went from the capacitor to the rectifiers, so they were cut at each end--what do I do with them?

I also had a lavender colored wire and a blue wire instead of two blue wires, so I treated the lavender wire as if it were a blue wire (it matched up with one of the blues coming out of a connector in your images) and connected it to the inkochnito board as if it were a blue wire.

Now the game comes on but no lamps under the playfield are illuminated.

Here's what I've got.

The lavender wire that should be blue is in the middle pin, it needs to be in the bottom pin.

Yeah, I guess I was just thrown by the fact that there were two leftover wires and no one had mentioned that anywhere. Also, lavender wire in place of one of the blues in my case, and that middle connection on the 3-pin block that isn't used at all--I made the incorrect assumption that all three spots on that block were the same.

Thanks for pointing out my mistake. I appreciate the help offered on this site!

#3424 5 years ago

The board was made with 4 different sized connector blocks so that they would never be connected incorrectly. Smart thinking!

Hey, I know from our home business (not pinball related), that if there is a way for a customer to misinterpret or screw up my instructions, it'll happen.

Fine then nobody can EVER say i didn't give into peer pressure!! LOL

Where is everyone buying the Inkochnito Bridge Board now?? Marcos is out of stock.

FYI

I did a quick write up on removing the visor/motor on a Pin*bot. It's here if anyone needs the help:

I would add that you want to inspect the hook arm switches on the motor housing, as the metal arms can be pretty fatigued after years of faithful service. (Says the guy who had to replace his when the metal arms broke off )

#3430 5 years ago

The Visor opening in the attract mode rules explanation is the biggest visor killer, imo. It’s why Pinbot stays off unless I am playing him.

Would you or someone put up a few pics of the board wired correctly? I would appreciate it. I just want to make sure that I get it right when I get mine. Mine doesn't have a blue wire but it has 2 whites. Also, would someone clarify which wires will not be used on the new bridge board? Thanks!

Those aren't white wires, they're a light lavender color and they are equivalent to the blue wires others have in their game. The wires that are left over are both connected to the Capacitor (the large gray cylinder at the bottom of your photo).

The connections will look like the image below except your lavender wires will be in place of the blue wires.

Thanks! So same color wires are interchangeable on the new board? The reds, blues, oranges and blacks?

Risk reward... Sun only lights adv planet for special so you can use the planets to get a free game (miss the special and drain and it goes away, so risk) or use the planet bonus to help you get free game via replay score. Reward for getting as close as possible to sun without reaching it.

When I turn on unlimited extra balls, Pinbot becomes the unending game from hell. Thats why I keep him at factory reset adjustments, so turning him over is harder. My best game with unlimited EB’s was an unending 50 million plus game that I had to just walk away from. Thats a 5x turnover. That is how dangerous extra balls are on Pinbot. I only need 5 good balls on pinbot to turn him over. My Wife had me set him to 5 ball play for her, and he became a 9999999 high score table idiot. 5 balls with factory extra balls = turn me over.

I know what you mean by too many extra balls, but for my family to enjoy the game, I have to make it easier. Even so, I've come close to turning it over, but never 5 times!

Fair enough.

For me, rarely I'll go for the planets. If I happens to get a few, I'll try hard to get to Jupiter (EB). Then if I feel like it's going well I'll try and go for the Sun (EB). It will rarely happen on the same ball as I don't go for it. I never go for Sun.

Same here. I have turned over a friend's Road Kings, but the game's pretty tired and has not been waxed in quite a while. The game used to be a lot harder after its last service, that's for sure. And more fun.

I completely agree that there is such a thing as too many extra balls and game times that are too long. I would probably try to steepen the game to make it faster/harder, but there's a limit of course. And I would open the outlanes and there's almost no limit there The center post between the flippers can be removed, too. Lanes can be tightened. As can the tilt, to prevent hard nudging. I don't like games that I control so well that I get bored...

#3449 5 years ago

I keep all my machines at factory reset adjustments. Mid outlanes, factory tilt and inclination. My Baseline so my high scores are equal... a 5x turnover in 93 is the same as a 5x turnover today. As long as its cleaned, waxed, and rerubbered, and you rebuild the flippers.
