So all three (newer) LED lamps on the drop targets are burned out, in fairly close succession. Random freak occurrence or symptomatic of a larger problem?

Thanks! It's a partial cloumn, as the chest matrix lamps downstream still light. The 44 lamps test is a great suggestion. And yes, the coil is placed ridiculously close to the sockets! No rubbing upon initial inspection.
