Which is better for a pinball machine over-all, e-nickle or chrome?

Quoted from sc93cobra:Either is a strong plating, but chrome is yet another layer done over nickel. I'd say most people can't tell the difference between the different platings. That being said, there's a reason that chrome is used, and has been used on car parts, especially bumpers, for years and years.
So... my vote is chrome. It's the least amount of maintenance of anything we do. I will also say, things like stainless parts are hard to plate. Plating does not adhere to them well. Although it can be done, the chrome is forming more of a shell around the stainless pieces than it is attaching itself to it. Still strong, but we recommend allowing us to polish stainless parts over plating them. Not that you asked about that, but it's a freebie
Great question!
Thanks!

Thanks for your input!
I know that plating pinball parts is mostly cosmetic as a lot of them are already Stainless Steel.
I think e-nickle has a warmer slightly yellowish look to it verses chrome that has a slight bluish reflected color.
Chris at HEP does a lot of e-nickle, I like the look of it.
I see that a lot of people are doing some sort of brass or gold color.
What are the maintenance problems for brass or gold?
Powder coat always look beautiful but lacks a super smooth glossy finish at least from what I have seen.
What can you do to get a glossy smooth finish on powdercoating?
Sand and polish?
Clearcoat on top of the powder?
What would be best and do you offer these services?

I know this might be a little random for some, but my business also sells arcade parts. In case there are any Atari arcade collectors here, we rolled this out today. Kind've a big deal since the old ones fail and without them most Atari classics would be doorstops. First time to be reproduced since Atari originals were made. Originals are running out and these should help keep these games alive on into the future. Big thanks to David Shuman (Shupac) for sticking it out to make this happen, over two years in the making.
