I wish there were metal gun grips for T3, I'd LOVE to have them chromed.

#27 7 years ago
Quoted from sc93cobra:

There are so many pieces like that that I wish I had the time to figure out getting manufactured. I think many others feel the same way. I mean, it's Terminator - it need some chrome right?
Chris

I have a friend who could do the computer machining but he says that the 3d scanning of both pieces would cost a bundle. He's looking so I hope he comes through for me. If my buddy can pull this off I wonder how many people would want it.

#29 7 years ago

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. There aren't many Pinsiders that own T3 and I don't know how many of those would be in for the mod. Can you chrome aluminum? That's way easier to machine.

#32 7 years ago
Quoted from whitey:

If it's done I'm in for one,

Well I heard from a Pinsider who has a machine shop and he said it would cost to much so I'm hoping my buddy can take it on. If he can't do it I'll look into casting....that's the way all the other game gun handles were done I believe. There's still hope.

Quoted from sc93cobra:

If it's metal we can chrome it. Stainless is a pain and takes many tries sometimes, but if it's metal it can be done.

That's what I thought. Thanks

#34 7 years ago
Quoted from sc93cobra:

Anyone looking to produce new parts like this that will be raw metal, on most projects, I will be willing to do all the plating in bulk for the ones wanting to make them or just be the storefront where they can purchase the part from. I love seeing these new parts become available. I currently have 4 wiring harnesses out to a guy in Canada who is reproducing rare arcade harnesses. I may get a free harness for each one I loan him, but more importantly it's good for the hobby and the guy has proven to do good work. This is the kind of stuff we need to be willing to help each other with and I want to be one of those guys seeing these things forward.

Wow that's great, I just hope I can get this past the talk stage. If I can get this done the "bulk" may only be one or two. This is just a bling item so most likely not a mass appeal.

Anyone out there do metal sand casting.

#36 7 years ago
Quoted from sc93cobra:

I always say, if you are going to do one, do 10 or more. Mike and I used to talk about this all the time. You see so many people in the hobby make a "few" of something that so many folks do want. Pinheads love to mod or make their game better. You do one, I'll be in for more while it's all set up, how about that?

Oh I know that, do one but 10 are cheaper. The grips have a fine cross hatch pattern that will probably be impossible to do with sand casting and they may need extensive cleaning up too and I think the internal support structure for the trigger is going to be a problem.

#40 7 years ago

When I redo my BOP I'm gonna chrome it out and put on the skinny side rails and throw away the wide stainless ones. I'll look you up then.

#44 7 years ago
Quoted from sc93cobra:

I did the same thing on a BK2000 we redid. At first I wasn't sure about it but in the end I'm glad we did it. It could always be changed by someone that might not like it later, but to be honest, the wide stainless rails are a big pain to get plated.
Would love to help you with it!!

That looks great, another Pinsider put the slim side rails on his so I'll have to look at his again and see how they look. I like how the stock wide ones act as a flipper button area protector for the decal thou. I wonder if I could keep them wide there then have them cut to go narrower for the rest of the length, kind of like a mini lolly pop rail. Do you know anyone that could cut them? But then chroming would be a problem then cuz they are stainless right.

#50 7 years ago
Quoted from sc93cobra:

They could be done, but yes, they are tougher to do. After only a few months of doing this I see now why Mike encouraged me to leave stainless stuff alone. Tales many tries sometimes to get it and even then causes issues. Just means you have to wait a while to get those pieces back, which I hate for my customers.

Thanks. What rails did you use on your BK2000? Would they work on my BOP?

#52 7 years ago

Thanks again Chris. I have the new remade art to go on and what's a few holes to fill. My lock down bar isn't in the best of shape so I'd probably need a new one of those too. I wish my garage/work shop was done so I could start working on my game.

#54 7 years ago
Quoted from sc93cobra:

I know the feeling. Since moving all of Mike's stuff to my shop it's got us a bit cramped too. We have a Gilligan and T2 both torn down, waiting on some pieces to come back from being plated, and a Nitro Groundshaker waiting in there too. Not to mention the arcades we are also working on. Trying to keep everything picked up and clean but it's hard with so much going on.
Just let me know if you want to get some stuff. I've got it ready to go, and seriously, thank you for the support. I (and my family) appreciate it more than you know.

You bet. Do you happen to work on a MACH 3 laser disc game? Mine won't go past the 2nd line of the boot screen.

#56 7 years ago

Thanks, had to ask. I've seen Dexter and talked to the guy, it only replaces the laser player not any of the boards. I'll keep looking and hopefully one day I'll find someone that can fix my game.

#63 7 years ago
Quoted from sc93cobra:

Some days this hobby has me shaking my head. I woke up this morning, went and met a guy and by lunchtime agreed to buy 60 pinball machines. This isn't the first time but I'll still never get past the "what did I just do" feeling shortly after, lol.

You have got to be kidding...60.

#71 7 years ago
Quoted from sc93cobra:

No, not a joke. This happens about once a year where I buy out a warehouse, pins and arcades but this one is so huge, probably about 600 pieces, that I'm just not going to try to buy all of that. I don't want all of it either, lol. Many of these will be parts machines but many will be savable. I even gave in to buying his 5 EMs as well, just to keep the deal going and him happy. I'll be buying more arcades later, I love to save the rarer stuff that you don't see much of these days.
The key phrase the guy asked me after I asked where do you want to start was "well, do you just want to go over all the pinballs today? If you buy them all I'll make sure they are cheap"

If you find a stand up MACH 3 let me know!!!

You have a chrome lock bar too?

#91 7 years ago
Quoted from sc93cobra:

You know it. Seriously, I have literally shelves of plated lockbars ready to go at all times. Shelves of rails, hinges, legs, yada yada yada...
Just let me know, glad to help!
Chris

I just pm'd you.

BTW - does anyone know how to get notifications on a thread? I try to check it from time to time but it would be nice if...
Thanks for anyone with any guidance on that.

Did you like your own topic? That's the only way I know of.

#95 7 years ago

No, no emails, that would be nice thou. But as you know you will get emails if someone pm's you.

#97 7 years ago
Quoted from sc93cobra:

I was afraid of that. Is what it is. Thanks man!!!

Any time. Looks like you'll be on Pinside more then.

#102 7 years ago

From the looks of your chrome you got the copper base and nickle on top of that flawless. Wish you could rechrome my mag wheels but that's beyond what you can do.

#105 7 years ago
Quoted from sc93cobra:

We can do those too
Remember I'm a hot rod guy first. We are doing a few hot rod parts here and there for friends and game customers too. It's been a good change of pace.

My wheels are American CP 200's, they are 2 piece, chromed steel rim with chromed aluminum spokes. The spokes have to be removed from the steel rim for the rims to be replated then rewelded on to the steel rims.

#109 7 years ago
Quoted from sc93cobra:

I probably need to get a few pics of that to quote it. It may be too expensive to justify the cost but I could be surprised too. Both of our crews do lots of wheels and have special tools just for the plating process for them. If you can email or text me pics of them with what you said there it would help me get a quote.
I used to have an account with American Racing too, I could always check price on new ones too, but you've probably already done that.

These are the original CP 200's from the early '80's there different then the modern ones today which are all one piece aluminum. I had one done about 5 years ago from a place in Cal., $200 + shipping. I don't have access to the wheels now, there on the Mustang at the shop 50 miles away so I'll have to wait till the car comes back. Can you chrome 3 blade spinners made out of pot metal? Again these are rare 3 blade with a hex head center. They quit making them in the '80's and man do they set off those CP 200's.

Was thinking about adding some bling to my standard WOZ by getting the legs, side rails, lockdown bar, and wireforms plated using a green candy chrome similar to the michigan state helmet below. These were all painted green on the WOZLEs but want to be different.
Is this doable?

WOW that would be cool and don't forget the shooter housing. Would you do the coin door to? Then add my green Leg Light-Ups and beatmasters green shooter housing light up.

#157 7 years ago

Man If I didn't already have powder on my games I'd get that colored chrome.

#169 7 years ago
Quoted from sc93cobra:

Here's in the sunlight, cause doesn't everyone have a spare Addams cab laying around, lol

I think that's a perfect match...when the light hits it. The color of the blue chrome or any chrome color for that matter is going to change depending on the light or lack of light that hits it at the angle.

It's always cool when you get to see the before and after of a customer's project that we get to be apart of. Here's a beautiful cigarette machine restoration that was completed in under two months, which is amazing. We not only did the chrome work, but we also did a couple of small repairs, mainly where coin slots had been assaulted but something like a screwdriver, they were rough, but look fantastic now. Love seeing this type of stuff coming back to life!
If you have a custom job you need help with or you need one of our hundreds of parts we keep on the shelf for Bally/Williams or Stern pins already plated or awaiting your powder coating wishes, then hit me up, I'd love to help!

Any word on my order Chris? How much for a chrome Stern coin door for my ST Pro?

#283 6 years ago
Quoted from sc93cobra:

Paul,
yes sir, your gun is done, I'll be shooting pics with it in the next couple of days. Holding it as you asked to come back with the chrome stuff. Your lockbar just went in the que last week so I'd assume a month or less for it to be done, I have everything else on the shelf for you. PM me a pic of your coin door, I'm sure I have it, just need to see which one. Thanks for your support, brother!
Chris

Thanks Chris.

#293 6 years ago
Quoted from Cserold:

Thank you Chris for the awesome chrome product and especially service on my first restore. Came out great.

That looks GREAT! Wish I could afford a chrome coin door.

Quoted from sc93cobra:

Me too. I own one but I don't paint plastic parts. It can't possibly hold up. I've talked to a couple of guys about how they should remake it in metal. Maybe one day we will be where we could take on such ventures.

Keep buggin them Chris, I'd take one.

Coin doors in powder over chrome...

Oh man do I like that.

#390 6 years ago
Quoted from sc93cobra:

A warning on doing coin doors... Some coin door frames give us trouble with what is called outgassing and creating little bubbles while in the oven for powder. It's not something we can fix so it is sometimes part of doing a door in powder and becomes one of those you just have to live with it things. The frames are usually made from different materials than the doors, such as aluminum, whereas the door is usually steel.

Even if the frames are chromed first?

Also if you could make the rods a little longer so I wouldn't have to put that rubber pill in the rubber tip to make up the difference of beatmasters lit shooter rod housing, that would be super cool.

#426 6 years ago
Quoted from sc93cobra:

Thanks guys They are pretty cool. Paul, at some point down the road maybe I can make you a longer one. I'll be honest, we have so many projects in the making right now I just want to focus on a few to make sure they are good and stay on top of getting people the parts they need as quickly as possible.
As far as MMR goes... I'm sure we can remove that button and add a shooter, lolol.
Hope life is good with all you pinheads tuning in
Chris

Thanks Chris, I'd have to measure the thickness of his mod. But the real problem I'd need like 10 or 12 of them cuz I have his mod on all but 3 of my games so that could add up to a heap of $$$$.

#436 6 years ago
Quoted from sc93cobra:

So needless to say we had some setbacks last couple of months. Our powder booth was just not doing some of the stuff we were trying to do with the level of quality we wanted. So at the end of the day, it was time to move the booth. The thing is, we needed it to be setting where the oven was. In the pics you will see both the booth and the oven. The oven is large enough to drive a car into it for a point of reference. Making the move would allow for a significant and controllable exhaust fan to be added to the booth. This move required, tearing each of these pieces (basically rooms) down and moving them piece by piece with forklifts. Then reconstructing them, then rewiring them, then rerunning water, electric, air and gas lines everywhere they are needed. Fun.
Needless to say, I've laid low trying to keep the amount of jobs coming in for powder coating, lol.
We also lost some of our great polishers in the past couple of months, one due to a family biz that needed him more, one just wanting to change careers, and one who is still with us but undergoing chemo, which makes him sick. So things have been slower at getting out the door.
To those that have been patiently waiting, thank you for your kindness with it taking a little more time to get stuff going. It means more than you know and I hate making people wait more than anyone will ever know.
I'm proud to say that we seem to be back to moving full steam ahead and I hope to get back to more normal wait times. Of course brass, black nickel (now only offered on gun shooters and wireforms) are always going to take longer with our guy that does that stuff.
Just figured I'd give everyone an update. We started shooting powder again end of this past week and our guys are really trying to help get our pin jobs back to moving along.
If you need me, you know how to find me. Glad to help if I can.

Paul, you should ride on down for the show here in Nashville this week! I'll drive the fastback one day and we can do some burnouts!!!

I know that but it's still plastic, snap oups. Can't make it going to Daytona, my buddy is running his 70 Mustang road race car on the 24 hour course with a bunch of other cars, I'm flying down and shooting vid for him AND getting a ride. Gonna be a GREAT week in the sun and WAY more fun then a pinball show. Quit doin stupid burnouts and do some real racing.....ROAD RACING.

#506 6 years ago

Hey Chris, would a metal gun handle be able to replace the plastic one on my T3? Granted the T3 handle only has 3 bolts so I'd have to drill 4 holes for the new one but the trigger wiring is just a 2 pin Molex on both isn't it?

#508 6 years ago

Hmmmmm I'll have to look into this cuz I'd like one of your chrome metal guns. No bolts though cuz I have clear plastic bolts that the heads light up real nice with beatmasters shooter housing light up..

#511 6 years ago
Quoted from sc93cobra:

Shoot me a link to the bolts, I’d like to check those out

The bolts are custom made for me, they are hex head bolts. I can post a picture of one if you like. I have them on my BF, T3 and Getaway, beatmasters shooter housing light up lights them up real nice.

Hello Chris & Pinside family...
My "other" hobby is my Harley Davidson Road King. I recently took it to a new shop for some work. It was there for over a month. When I picked it up, they had wiped it down with a dry rag (most likely). In doing so, the dust acted as fine sandpaper, and there are fine scratches on all my big chrome pieces. BTW: They denied doing this damage.
Every time I come to a stop light, all I see is these scratches glowing at me, in every direction.
Can these chrome pieces be re-chromed?

Oh man that's the shits. I'd spread the word about that shop.

But why not the coin door?

#743 5 years ago
Quoted from sc93cobra:

Doing the coin door isn't for everyone. I think especially with powder coating, there's a fine line of would looks nice and what looks cheap. I do whatever people want though, and I'm always glad that not everyone likes exactly what I like. Personally, I only plate doors on my personal games and don't do that many of them at that.

Oh I thought this was your game.

So here’s a random pic of one of my kids.

Now that's a good picture, b&w really adds to it.

Quoted from Gornkleschnitzer:

Here's that happy customer. What a glowing review of my wireforms, glad you liked my work! The game is actually a fully custom build (see Undertale in the homebrew subforum), but honestly I think the nicest looking part of it is going to be the chrome.
Conveniently, I did take a before pic. They were built out of raw steel rod stock with no additives or protections, so imagine this photo with more rust, which had managed to appear within a week of original construction. No more danger of that![quoted image]

Wow you are a true artist. How long did it take to make them and how many times did it take you to get the finals?

#824 5 years ago
Quoted from Gornkleschnitzer:

Why thanks!
They took a couple weekends, as I recall. It started with a printout of the ramp layout (created with Inkscape) and a careful arrangement/bending of the rods to match it. I only had to build one set of wireforms, but a couple of mount points did break. One has a visible repair on the blue VUK ramp, the other wasn't structurally critical (right ramp) and just got removed.

Yup your a Pro.

Very sad to hear of the passing of our friend, Andrew Henderson. He has been taking cemo for a while now. Almost has him hanging with a bunch of us at the opening of a new pinball bar here in Nashville recently. There is a thread here for him. https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/rip-drewblood419#post-4633539
He loved pinball and he loved others. He will be missed. Prayers for his little girl and family.

Sad to hear Chris.

I never would have guessed it either, I've never seen the game in person before. Man that copper fits the game perfect, it's beautiful. My amber Leg Lights would look perfect on that game

You bet. No not a word, doesn't bother me cuz it can't come home till it warns up and everything is unfrozen and dry.

It REALLY pains me Chris to hear what those Aholes did to you, I hope they get theirs BIG TIME. Take the order, make their product then get Payed in Full before you ship their order. I have no problem with the change but I wish you would out them. DIRTBAGS!

Fire! Champagne that belongs to a friend that we did polished brass on. It was a super pain in the neck to get this job done. Doing the rails for this thing proved to be a major undertaking. All that being said, it is beautiful!
We normally do satin brass on these, which is easier to pull off than polished. I'm not saying we won't do another one, but it won't be cheap, and don't expect it fast, lol.
Glad to help with something if I can, I hope everyone is doing well!

BK2000 Wireform a customer needed repaired, it had a bunch, more than not, of broken welds. We welded, ground down the rough stuff, and replated it.
We do more of this than I ever realized we would. Bought my own welder last year, hoping to get the hang of it myself this summer after practicing on some junk ones to help speed that part up.
Hope all is well with everyone! We've been crazy busy here, selling pins and the plated parts that go on them, lol. Thankful for all of it.
Thanks for looking and let me know if I can help!

That is sharp. You should see if beatmaster could make you a shooter light up plate for that, that would look killer. He made one for my Batman Forever which is the same plate but different gun. The black gun doesn't have the plastic bolts but the second picture does along with the new light up plastic gun. I even used clear plastic bolts so the heads light up too.My red Leg Lights and red cup light would look great too.

Hey Chris, is there a way to fill in with welding or something the 8 speaker bolt indents on the panel before plating so the whole panel is perfectly smooth?
