His webzine is on my 'check every day website list'. It's really informative, especially since he's filming all his repairs now. Well worth supporting with a small donation. Just like Pinside btw.

I joined too late to contribute to his pin. I would have liked to. That really is one of the coolest gestures I have heard of. Glad you could participate.

I decided to smash my face into the door rather than post what i really thought. I want......no.......I demand a '+1' for that.

What do you mean?
All i know is Clay is an asset to the pinball community and after donating yesterday i received my user name and password to pinball ninja within 45 minutes of payment. Such a wealth of knowledge that the twenty bucks spent seems super cheap.
Quoted from examiner:Hypothetical situation: a Pinside member has a technical question. Another Pinside member absolutely knows the answer, because he has encountered the situation before.
2nd Pinside member says: "paypal me $5 and I'll send you the answer to your question".
I'd be rich. Swimmin pools - movie stars. Cue Jed Clampett banjo tune.

Just got my login for Pinball Ninja, and I have to say, it is pretty cool to have access to all of these repairs/stories. WELL worth the donation, and I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't taken the plunge to do so..
Quoted from HELLODEADCITY:jonnyo said:It cracks me up how John P comes up with the idea of pinball school and people are chomping at the bit to throw down their cash.
But Clay offers 10 times the amount of info you could get in any class, available 24x7, and continually updated, and people have a problem with donating
I think jonnyo sums it up best
I think you hit the nail on the head as well +9 jonnyo's explanation.
Survey says.. perspectives are many and people are petty! IMHO
What did all you old timey pinball machines collectors do before the internet? It must have been a steep learning curve to maintain your machines without the printed word and photos on line. Like back in the 90's, 80's and before.
Most of the issues concerning the "donation" of funds (or tools?) for access to Clay's site boil down to Clay himself. It's personal. It's pretty simple, IMHO.
Clay knows a lot about pinball repair and has contributed more to the hobby than most people have. Clay is also hard to get along with if you happen to have an opinion that is more than 1% different than his. He can be aggresive and disrepectful and he seems to not care if he hurts others' feelings. Meanwhile, he continues to contribute to the hobby more than most people.
His behavior tends to leave the audience polarized, and for good reason. Because "Clay is Clay" the debate about Clay and his contributions will be never-ending. I suspect he has us all right where he wants us .

After reading bits and pieces of this argument, and let me know if I am wrong here, didn't Clay donate %100 of the dollars he made from those videos to the pinball hall of fame which is a non profit organization? So the money essentially went to people in need. Copyright infringement or not it would be very hard for the copyright owners to sue him and not look like total asses.
