According to the recent security training at work, this is what hackers look like:

While we are on the topic of computer tips, here is a great tip on doubling your internet speed. I tried the tripling one he put out but that didn't work for me.

#204 4 years ago

Yeah I found that after you said Java was contained within Minecraft. I played Minecraft back when you had to have Java installed.

The link I posted earlier shows Mojang still lists Java as being a required install. You would think they would have updated the page by now.

Java probably gives them a kickback every time somebody installs Java from their site.

You can never have too many Yahoo tool bars installed thanks to those SOBs.

When a computer gets hacked, it makes a cool sound. I heard it on a recent ITT radio commercial. "Zz-zap! That's the sound of a computer being hacked."

#209 4 years ago

OK, uninstalled Java. Thanks for the I.T. help!

Now I've got a program called "Jarvis" installed, should I uninstall that also?

I never would have believed it. Surely not what I intended. I am still surprised by the number of people that read it and then went and tried it. I wonder if I had posted that I bought a can of pork and beans at walmart and a black mamba came out when I opened it, would there be a lot of people on pinside passing gas.

This did not work for me?

Now I'm going exactly 3.14159265359 x faster.......frigin' little liar!

I guess it boils down to. Will the porn instantly start playing when I click on the clip, or is it going to tell me I need java installed to view it? That's the important stuff.

what would make this more hilarious is if the very bottom, had a little gap to view pinside on it.

#220 4 years ago

besides. I have Java installed on my computer desk every afternoon when I get up.

Anything on the pornhub network (youporn, pornhub, etc..) works without java.

A friend told me that.....

Install media player plugin now!

#226 4 years ago

I think all the people defending Java plugins decided to play Frontier instead.

It was fun to have for a while, but became too easy to play. It really doesn't need that center up post. I even took out those posts between the flippers and slingshots but it was still too easy. A great starter game though that can usually be had for cheap.

I've never played Frontier but I do love that backglass.

Anybody liking Windows 10? I just installed it yesterday. I hope I don't regret it.

Well not to explain the joke, but the sound effect loop on Frontier is crickets.

Windows 10 is well, like Windows 8... awful. You would be amazed at how surprised some people I know are. After Windows 7 I will, without any doubt in my mind, be moving on to either Ubuntu or ReactOS (depending on how capable it is by 2020). I have lost pretty much all faith in Microsoft.

#233 4 years ago

Windows 10 is pretty solid.

Quoted from Wolfmarsh:

Agreed. I only had Windows 8 for a month before the free W10 upgrade came out ... Lucky because windows 8 was crap.

I used XP for as long as humanly possible lol

Hey, if it ain't broke ...

Read up on Mint. It's quite intuitive coming from Windows. I've used Ubuntu as well, but preferred Mint.
If you want to experiment, you can just burn and run a live DVD. Much slower, but lets you check out the OS without committing to it.

Yeah I've been happy with it.....upgraded my desktop with it with no issues and my Surface 3 came with it installed. I like it better than 8.1.....but I liked 7 better than 8.1. Between 7 & 10 I like 10. It was crap on my phone though and I had to go back to 8.1 on my Nokia Icon.

#238 4 years ago

Considering i'm predominantly Linux and MacOS, Windows 10 is much better than 8.x. Not quite as user friendly as 7 but as stable with some elements being much quicker.

Once you realize that microsoft renamed everything like "Computer" to "This PC" it becomes easy to find items. Just search out their new names. Otherwise most everything is in the same spot.

Nothing's perfect. But it did what I needed it to do for 10 years ... Simple stuff ... Ran 4 stores point of sale, my warehouse system with $1m+ of stock, answered 100s of emails per day ... Never failed once. And that's what 99% of people want, something reliable, that's easy to use, and works when you want to do something. Of course, if you're taxing it with huge graphics tasks .. It ain't gonna do that well. But most people don't do that.

I've been using Windows 8 for a year and I was just starting to get used to the swiping motions. Slide the mouse on the right side of the screen the settings menu opens. But I really hated the apps they tried to get you to use. All of them were really slow and some would never open.

That's one thing about 10 I've noticed. It's a little slow on startup. 8 would take me to desktop right away but 10 takes a little more time.

i'm with ya there. I'm still using XP on 3 or 4 of my computers. Windows 7 on the ones i'm forced to.

XP was way better than Vista. After 98 was no longer supported. I went with mac because I'm a cheap bastard.

wait what? you went with an apple product and say your a cheap bastard? That can't even be said in the same sentence. Apple ass rapes you hardcore on prices for all their crap.

#245 4 years ago

Does Windows 10 come with Java?

#246 4 years ago

I did the upgrade to windows 10 from windows 7 , and now my laptop is a paperweight, it takes forever for it to load and when i click on something it takes like 20 minutes for it to respond, now where is that windows xp disc?

#247 4 years ago

That's really weird that you guys are seeing long load times.

My computer goes from power button to desktop in less than 3 seconds.

#248 4 years ago

Don't search pinballlife on ig either.

#249 4 years ago

I have an A+ cert, so I know enough about computers to be dangerous , but I can not figure this one out, I have been doing the updates for a month now hoping that one of those updates would fix it, but still no good, I am sure that i am not the only one dealing with this, looks like I am going to have to buy a copy of windows 7 and just stick with that

That couldn't be further from the truth. Like anything you get what you pay for. I replace a PC based laptop every 24-30 months for either shitting the bed or some other reason. So I've spent over a 5 year span 4-5 grand or almost 1k a year to own them.

My MacBook pros go strong for 5-6 years and cost 2500 to buy thus costing me $500 a year.

Better engineered. Better designed. Better standardized ecosystem. There just isn't any downside to them.
