I finally sat down and watched this. My comments (for what it's worth, since this is almost "old hat" now).
The production value was great, and that helps sell it. The sizzle did an awesome job of creating characters. However, I don't think I'd ever want to watch a show with a character like Marc. I know he was exaggerated for TV purposes, but that sort of attitude and characterization is disgusting and not something I enjoy watching or following. I get that it makes good TV...But not for me.
I think the focus was almost too heavy on buying/selling/flipping. There was some neat blurbs about the resurgence and social aspects of pinball, but all the action and fun seemed to revolve around how much money was in the hobby. I get what people are saying now about "bringing the wrong kind of people in". The sizzle felt SO focused on the money to be made that it seems like people who don't give a shit about pinball would be interested in squeezing out as much cash as they could. Would that happen? Who knows. But I now get the outcry associated with it.
Overall I think it was well done. The over the top characters were a bit much at times, and the seemingly heavy focus on all the money that's to be made needs to be toned down. But I'd stop and watch an episode if I saw it on TV. Having said that, I'm still trying to convince myself that a random TV watcher would have any interest in what's going on.
