Quoted from Razorbak86:Dude, you can't just drop Horological Porn like that without more info. We need deets! Spill it!
Ha..Thanks, but I don't have a whole lot of info. A relatively new watch company started by a long time Swiss watch designer and her son. It was geared toward women but in 2010 they rolled out models for men. I was looking for a chrono tank for a while and when I saw it I liked the look of it. It has nice heavy Breitling looking band and a really nice finish. I have a couple of chronos and they both have Valjoux 7750 and 7760 movements. I was hesitant to buy an ETA 2894-2 movement, however a little research later I found out that it's actually considered a little better than the Valjoux. I bought it for a song, so no complaints. Along with Oris I think it's the best Swiss value brand you can get for the money. Cheers.

Annnnd.....we are back to where this whole thread started (over a year ago)
Quoted from spfxted:Looks nice. Is it a battery?
That is an automatic that gets power from the movement of your arm.

lol. that is too funny. i didn't even remember. guess it just proves that it (the speedmaster) is an undeniable classic!

Quoted from VGC1612:Someone had feedback about Vacheron Constantin,Patek,Piguet,A.Lange & Sohne and Piaget watches?
All but Piaget are top in industry.
Quoted from HeyYouSir:Thanks to this thread I became interested in the Steinhart watch brand. Today I opened up my first NIB Steinhart. It's an Ocean 1 Black with a ceramic bezel. I would highly recommend them. Great customer service and a good product.
Pics or it didn't happen.
Cleaning through some files, and found some pics of my Grandfathers work.
He worked with coin op too, but Patented this watch cleaning machine.
Sadly, he received his patent 2 weeks before the 1929 market crash, and Great Depression.
Grew up with watchmakers, and watches everywhere.
Can you imagine large boxes of everything desirable today...?
Anyway, heres how watches were cleaned then, and not so different today.

Now that's a machine!
Next time I'm at my watchmakers store I'll take a picture of his machine.
Here's that Aliens watch if anyone is interested....
I love this thread. It's nice to see we have some non-pinball interests! I acquired five new watches this week for a price a price that would've got a few nice pins! A Seiko Astron SSE055 (GPS watch, really cool), Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M (James Bond limited edition), Omega Seamaster Bullhead (retro, limited edition update on original 1969 Bullhead) and an Omega Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial (stainless steel version. I also picked up a Tissot PRC 200 Quartz Chronograph for my wife.
Quoted from spfxted:That Omega Seamaster Bullhead looks pretty damn sweet!
I think it's my favorite!
For those that own a Steinhart Ocean One black or anyone that has an ETA 2824-2 powered mechanical watch...
How much power reserve does it have after being worn for 10+ hours?
How accurate is it per day?
My watch has about 18 hours power reserve. The ETA 2824-2 specs advertise a 40 hour power reserve.
I'v seen a variance of 30 seconds in a day. Advertised spec for this movement is +-20 seconds per day.
I realize that mechanical watches can be a whole different ballgame than quartz watches, but I'm curious as to what others have experienced. I'm taking notes on mine over a two week period (at Steinhart's request). This brand new watch of mine may end up being repaired or replaced by Steinhart. TBD

Well the reserve should be accurate.....right around 40hrs. As far as time keeping it might just need to be regulated. Most of 2824's have been very accurate and usually run around +/- 10-15 seconds / day.
Ok. This was the first watch that I've ordered from Steinhart so I wanted to see what others have experienced. On top of the cost of the watch I paid Steinhart 30 euros for shipping and handling. I see now that I have been invoiced from FedEx directly recently for another $19 US ($12 US for customs and a $7 US advancement fee which I assume FedEx is charging me for them paying the $12 in advance.)
Have others had a similar experience?

I always loved that style... reminded me of the Cartier Pasha. Have an ESQ along those lines around here somewhere.

...so much for my street cred.

Yeah I had to pay FedEx as well. Small price to pay considering we don't have to pay the VAT.
Anyone want to trade a Tudor Pelagos (black dial & bezel) or a Rolex Milgauss (with green crystal & black dial) for one/some of my pins? While we're at it, I *might* be tempted to trade for a Audemars Piguet ROO Safari (older style). I know it is a longshot but I figure what the hell . I'd also consider a 2531 Seamaster
But you'll know it is EXACTLY ten.
I'm wearing my Rolex Submariner (no date). I like the flat crystal and symmetrical face.
Too bad RobT is not around.. wanted to thank him for the Steinhart Ocean One recommendation.. picked one up and love it!

I'll take it since I recommended it to him
I'm kinda waiting for this Steinhart. Sold out now, but an updated version is due out in the spring.
