Quoted from Aurich:there's a lot of snobbery, especially over what people perceive as "mall brands". If you enjoy wearing it then that's all the counts.
Yep, that's exactly what I was seeing. It couldn't possibly be nice if you can buy it at the mall.
Does anyone order from Ashford? I know you don't get the factory warranty, but from what I've been reading, their own "in-house" warranty is just as good. I ordered this one from there because it was substantially cheaper than buying from an Authorized Distributor. I found another watch on there I like, but I was wondering if anyone has actually used their warranty?
Quoted from spfxted:Whoa! I think that one looks sharp!....never saw that style before....
Thanks spfxted. I really like it too. The other one I have is an ESQ that my wife bought me for my birthday. Once again, not an expensive one, but as long as I like it, that's all that matters to me.
Quoted from Spyderturbo007:but as long as I like it, that's all that matters to me.
Exactly! I catch some flack because I HATE those oversize watches. My collection now is all 40's and 50's watches. They are small compared to the "George Foreman Grills" on your wrist watches that are the rage now.
Giant-watch.jpgThe ESQ that my wife bought is about the size of a dinner plate.
I don't mind it most of the time, but other times it gets in the way. I'll never tell her that though.
I was looking at this one, but I really don't want to spend $837 for a watch. That could be money towards another pinball machine!

Well I spotted another watch and have decided to put up my BALL in order to fund it (if anyone is interested):
Quoted from spfxted:I just made an offer for an 18k Mystery Dial watch. Keeping fingers crossed...
We're still trying to work out a deal. I should know by tonight!
Quoted from txstargazer3:Here's what my collection looked like a few days ago. Seiko Astron, Rolex Submariner, 1960s Omega Constellation and Grand Seiko Spring Drive 10th Anniversary. Both Seikos are now sold. image.jpg
Ditto.....like that Omega a lot!!!
Thanks guys! The Omega was my late father's. I plan to pass it on to my son. I have regular maintenance performed for longevity.

I shall blame you if I wander to that sight and buy something!!!
Wow, Astropin... there's been a lot of pretty gear in this thread, but that Ball is the first one to make me seriously consider joining the "big boy" watch club. Never even heard of Ball... but I like almost everything about that one! Unfortunately after looking into it, I'd so much prefer the blue markers more. But that's a gorgeous watch to my personal tastes... probably not the "investment grade" so many seem to prefer, but now I might have a starter to a short list. Thanks for sharing!

What style bracelet are you thinking?
Collected Russian/Soviet watches for awhile, mostly Vostok. Found them to be quite good for the cost. Nicest one I have from there is from the 1980 Olympics.
Quoted from guarda:Longines make an ss one that feels great and might look nice on yours. Here's mine.
That DOES look nice! Do they make it in gold?
Quoted from volkdrive:Nicest one I have from there is from the 1980 Olympics.
Let's see it!
Quoted from spfxted:That DOES look nice! Do they make it in gold?
Yeah, of all the bracelets I've seen for Longines, Le Grand Classique looks the best for your watch. My opinion, of course. Solid gold? Don't think so. Gold colored on page 17 of below.

Quoted from MES:Anyone own a Seiko Tuna Can? Thinking of getting one.
MES got me thinking and looking. I searched eBay and bought myself a slightly used Seiko Tuna Can dive watch. Maybe I need to take up diving now!image.jpgimage.jpg

ahhh...too many watches. Going all 40's and 50's gold now....
So I'm looking at two watches right now......and they are completely different!
