Quoted from Time:

Same movement from the Explorer of this era (caliber 3000) but this is the Air King and slightly smaller at 34mm.

I never actually expected they'd buy it. I knew a kid that got one for HS and so that's what gave me the idea to ask (somewhat jokingly). I picked out the Air King because I had small wrists at the time. I still like the smaller case though. I have enough big watches that it makes this a little more special being small IMO.

Nice. It’s a good looking watch.

Fixin’ the EM’s and being extra cautious today with the Orient open heart sun & moon on lizard brown strap...

Post office finally "found me" after shuffling this between 3 different local facilities, not sure why, it was addressed correctly.
First impressions are fantastic even with the couple of minor items below.
It is a little smaller than I prefer but I can adapt.
The bezel only rotates one way but is nice an easy to see.
The luminous hands, including the second hand were nice and visible during the night, and the luminous dots at each 5 minute location were also nice and bright.
At 2X the cost of the Timex I got last week and promptly returned the very next day, this Citizen is a keeper!

My excellent wife gave me this watch as a b'day gift. I love it, beautiful, Swiss made, accurate/efficient automatic movement, good to a depth of 1000 feet, uni-directional ceramic bezel, very nice blue/black face. Always enjoy wearing it.

The bezel should only rotate one way.

Thanks for clarifying. I just prefer a dual rotating. By NO means a deal breaker with this timepiece.

Turning screwdrivers with the Geckota G-01 1950’s retro diver in red. Because hey, it’s Valentine’s Day.

I finally did it. After thinking about getting a nice watch I finally pulled the trigger. Rolex perpetual oyster 39mm red grape.

Congrats! Was the purchase from Prestige? If so, let us know how it goes.

#1810 4 years ago

No. Just a picture I pulled. I bought from the only Rolex dealer in south Dakota. They didn't have the 38mm in stock so they're ordering it from Rolex

Congrats on pulling the trigger, just curious though...

Did you try on anything that's 38 or 39mm?

It's quite small depending on your wrist size

Gents are not what we used to be way back when lol

Did they commit to a delivery time? I'm under the impression that some of the smaller regions are having a tough time getting supplied from Rolex. Perhaps that's just for the Daytona and Sub.

39mm is a decent size for the style. The Oysters of way back when were 34-36mm--those are too small for modern times!

My wrist is a flat 6.75 inches. It felt like the right size. 36mm was just a little too small.

They said it should be by the 28th at the latest but who knows.
Sterns had recent themes I like but their quality is too hit or miss for me

Rather like the look awesome. Would you consider a PM to let me know what the price was on this? Around our area it literally changes every time I go in the store. Lol. If you would

Mine don’t hold a candle to some of the timepieces in this thread but nonetheless I still love them. The Swiss army is a little sluggish and needs a movement cleaning. The mudmaster is my workhorse.

Yep, the other swatch that came with it had a receipt from Aug. 1986!

It was an eBay thing, package deal from France.

Love that bezel.

#1826 4 years ago

Lol! I didn’t do anything wrong, but that’s funny. We just like collecting these fun toys, so when an opportunity comes up for one that’s hard to get at MSRP that we don’t have I buy it. I prefer the 42-44mm models now and mostly wear a sea dweller 43 lately, so this 40mm gmt was perfect for her along with the green sub I shared a month or two ago.

#1827 4 years ago

Almost pulled the trigger today on another sub but the wife was there to stop me. I will be getting a GMTII when one pops up.

Well I got married Saturday and my wife got me a Christopher Ward C1 Moonphase as my wedding gift. I'd been wanting to buy this one for a while, so that was a nice surprise!

Anyone interested in a IWC Portofino 8 day? My wife hates it, and the fact I bought it in Vegas

Have black alligator and brown with clasp, only worn probably 5 times.

Just Arrived! Jaeger-LeCoultre - Amvox II
20200324_140138 (resized).jpg20200324_140138 (resized).jpg
Supposedly this was a used watch in very good condition. As far as I can tell it's completely mint, including the strap. The watch looks completely unworn, not a mark on it and the strap is still stiff with no creases.

If you're not familiar, JLC stopped producing these in 2010. This particular model was limited to 750 pieces. A very unique chronograph that clearly has no pushers. The chronograph is activated by the crystal. Just press down on the crystal at 12 O'clock to start and stop the chronograph. 6 O'clock resets it. There is a switch on the left-hand side of the case to lock the crystal and prevent accidental actuation of the chronograph. You can also set the switch to be able to start and stop but not reset. All that and it still has 50m water resistance.

Prior to this, my biggest watch purchase was my Omega Speedmaster Professional (Moon Watch), which I had purchased back in 2013. The one that started this whole thread. After that purchase, it was back to boutique watches in the 200-1800 price range...mostly towards the lower end of the range.

This time I was looking for something a little more special. I'm a tool watch guy...mostly collect dive and aviator watches. I have one watch that I would consider "dressy" and even that is a really modern take on a moon-phase by Christopher Ward; the "C-1 Moonglow".

I knew I wanted something a little "different"...but also something by a brand with a great horological history. The coolest thing (to me) about mechanical watches is the movements. I'm just fascinated by the movements. That led me to JLC..."the watchmakers, watchmaker". While I appreciate the "Master Ultra Thin Moon-Phase" and the "Reverso's"...I wanted something more for "everyday wear". I'm casual...even when I'm working, it's blue jeans every day. If I'm dressing up I'll add a sport coat to my blue jeans...that's me.

The Amvox line just struck a chord with me. Sporty, but refined. Modern and interesting...but not totally in your face. At 44mm it wears smaller thanks to short curved lugs which come in at just under 50mm lug to lug. Very wearable on my 6.5" wrist. Easy to read, cool unique features and modern everyday looks...I love it.
