Gonna go to the AD again.
This time I will ask for a Rollie Rollie Rollie with a dab of ranch.
Wonder if that’s the secret password to get one?

My Seiko 5 is losing like 3-5 minutes a day. That seems.... bad. I've read some things saying they aren't very adjustable either. Is it possible to dial it in at all? I need to check the warranty.

Yeah...something is definitely wrong there!

I dropped my automatic watch the other day, and it was off about 5 or so minutes a day. My fault totally, so I didnt want to warranty it. But I read if you let it run down completely then wind it fully it can help, and it did. Just something to try. Can't hurt I suppose.

Thanks will give that a try. My quote of 5m/day seems a bit off. It's like it loses 3m the first day after I set it, then slowly creeps up.
Quoted from Meegis:Anyone here ever make a purchase with chrono24?
yes, that's where I got the Bremont above. No problems at all.
Quoted from spfxted:Just take it to your watch repair guy. Probably just needs adjustment....
Probably just a fuse.

I'm scarred for life from buying/selling watches online. I had a horrible experience selling my first time on a breitling forum. MF'r tried to scam me out of $3300. I'm not into watches that much anymore (would rather have a pin than 1 watch) but I'm afraid to go through the online selling process again, so they just sit in my drawer.

Could always sell but not ship. Only meet in person.
Even sell on here as suggested depending on what you may have.

Was it international? I've found a watch I like, but it's in the Netherlands and I'm in Canada.
Quoted from Meegis:Was it international?
Was in France and I'm UK. Not really international. Money held in escrow until released. Like all online buying there are going to be shysters so stick to reputable businesses and google them first.

I have been on the hunt for the past month. This is my fear as well. I am looking for a Tag Heuer Aquaracer. Just can't pull the trigger. I like Ted's idea. Does anyone here have anything they are selling?

It can be scary. Looking for new or used? Maybe try start looking with watchrecon

Not a grail watch, but this is been on my list quite some time. I finally picked up a Grand Seiko Snowflake Sprig Drive. The snowflake face has to be seen to be truly appreciated. I tried my best to catch it in the attached photo.
Seiko’s Spring Drve hybrid movement is really special. It has a velvety smooth sweep secondhand and amazing craftsmanship. It has the best of both worlds; mechanical winding and setting with quartz technology. This watch is the accurate within +/-1 second a month.
Quoted from ToucanF16:It can be scary. Looking for new or used?
I am looking for used. Specifically a Tag Aquaracer 500m Calibre 5. I have been looking but am really gun shy as it seems there are a lot of replicas. There are so many watch forums as well. Some are good but hard to navigate. Thanks for the link I will check it out.
Quoted from jester523:I went pretty simple, but I dig it. I wear it every day, and my baby loves to put it on and walk around the house, which makes me laugh.

I’m learning now Hamilton is a sliperly slope.
They have a lot of watches I like.
Too many!

Man, that is beautiful. Simple and classic in look. The Spring Drive is cool.
Quoted from aobrien5:Anyone know where I can find more info about this Tissot? Stamped T840K on the back.

Yeah, it's quartz. Figured with how thin it was.
Wow i didnt know so many people were just like me !
here are a few from my collection!

How much?
Anyone have any vintage (70’s style) Swiss watches they are looking to sell? Breitling, Otar, Croton, Wakmann, Vulcain, Nivada or Yema brands preferred. I also have to offer in a trade: Space Shuttle, EBD, and Nugent pins as well as higher value Neo Geo MVS titles and possibly arcade games.
Added over 5 years ago:Found! Pics to follow.
Selling my complete LNIB Rolex Deep Sea Sea Dweller which includes all removed links, papers, tags, boxes, and stickers. $8000 cash, check, or wired to my bank account. Checked all the websites and couldn't find one less than $8550. Local pickup or will ship insured for free once funds clear. Wire or check if not a face to face cash deal. Here is a quick picture and I can send you more if you are interested. Many references here for selling a lot of mint A tier pinball machines. Thanks for looking. Edit-Sorry forgot to mention not looking to trade this for pins.

Quoted from jkashani:Anyone have any experience buying from Crown and Caliber?
Yes. I just did, based on another Pinsiders recommendation here. Watch came as described but, being in Canada, I had a big tax and duty bill and the watch was sized to a 6.25” wrist. Who has a 6.25” wrist size?? I think they removed links and sold the watch at a ridiculously small size and yet when I asked if they could supply me the missing link, they said they’re not a Brietling Dealer and they don’t have parts but I could send it back for a refund.
Long and short, I wasn’t terribly happy with their customer service. The watch did come as described but I was on the hook to spend $1300 in taxes and duty and $150 for two additional links.
However, I really like the watch and even spent another $1000 on a blue croc strap and deployment clasp for it.
Quoted from snyper2099:Trilled with this watch. Exactly what I wanted. Vintage Datora.[quoted image]
That is sweet!
Really growing attached to many of the older Japanese domestic Citizen watches. Hard to beat value. This model has the E760 movement.
Perpetual calendar automatically adjusts days for shorter months and leap year.
Case and bracelet are hardened titanium, about 5 times harder than stainless steel. Very light and comfortable.
Sapphire crystal.
Bracelet can be micro-adjusted on the fly to one of three positions.
Hour hand is motorized and can be adjusted independently for time changes without stopping the watch. Just push recessed button then turn the crown to adjust forward or backward in one hour increments.
Solar powered. Has two power down levels. Level 1 stops second hand. Level 2 stops all hands and date. Can stay in the dark over 2 years on a full charge; when light hits it, it will adjust all hands and date to the correct time.
Less than $100 on Yahoo Auctions in Japan. Many of the Attessa line with similar features can be picked up for under $50. Due to the excellent materials, the watches often look great, ie. no scratches on the crystal and light scratches to the case and bracelet, even though they might be over 10 years old.

That is awesome. How are “taxes” and shipping to the US then?
Here’s a photo of my 1967 Bulova Accutron (218D). It’s not a high end piece (value is probably $400), but they are interesting watches with much historical significance and a good following.
It’s a battery powered watch with two small coils which sit between a small tuning fork. The magnetic field that is created causes the tuning fork to vibrate which runs the watch. The watch doesn’t tick, it hums (super cool).
Pinside played a role in getting this old thing working again...
When I was 9 yrs old I found the watch in a gravel parking lot of a restaurant while on vacation in Tanenbalm Arkansas with my family. I saw it was 14k gold and brought it home and placed it in my drawer... where it sat for the next 40 years.
After reading this thread in December of last year I decided I owed it to this watch to get it running. After being turned down by a 100 year old jewelry store near my home (their repair people were not familiar with how to fix them) I found an Accutron expert.
The expert is an Australian watch maker who lives in Thailand. He met his wife in Australia at a party. She was locked in a bathroom and he was her rescuer. She was Thai and so they moved after they were married.
Anyway, the watch went to Thailand, was fixed, and arrived back home in February. After 40 years it’s back in action and I enjoy wearing it.
