Fifty Fathoms is one my grail watches.

Quoted from ToucanF16:

The advantage of the Seiko mod is that it costs about $320, as opposed to several thousand...

Omega planet ocean today. Haven't had this on in a long time.

Love the orange and black on stainless bracelet

Need to set it even though it was on winder.

I think Seiko and especially Grand Seiko are under appreciated in the US.

Beauty! You need to remember to wear it more often.

By the way, it was only off by about 6 min after easily over a year.

Just got off the phone with Aaron to order the strap. I mentioned you, but couldn't find your name here….

My Grand Seiko is one of the nicest watches in my collection and far more accurate than anything else in my collection.

Love that Omega DSoTM!

Sweet timepiece!

Wearing this today. Time for a beer.

Great, great watch.

A real sleeper here in the U.S.

So I did pick up a Tisell Diver (Total Rolex Sub Homage). Went with the "Hulk" edition. Pretty ridiculous value really - Stainless Steel case and band (decent weight). Sapphire crystal, 9015 automatic movement and to top it off a ceramic bezel........$195!

Thank you. I think so. They are really well made.

Looks great! Is the band a nice weight?

Yes....it feels solid. Crazy package for the price but according to the website he's out of 9015 movements until 2017!

I like those Seikos a lot. Its a pretty similar one to the model I have and I love it. Its fairly large but not huge. The build quality is great for the money if you ask me.

The iconic Seiko "Black Monster". Some of the best lumi I've ever seen on any watch. Had one for years.....just sold it actually.

Quoted from Astropin:

Yeah, it seems pretty thick on there...

#670 7 years ago

Not only thick but it's Seiko's LumiBright (C3 superluminova) the brightest stuff you can get without going radioactive.

This looks to be a first generation monster. Good watch. There are some noticeable differences between the generations. First generation differences: seconds aren't hackable, crown is bit harder to operate, second generation has a better movement, first generation not hand windable, face redesigned in the second generation.

#672 7 years ago

Thanks for the info! How much should I offer for the one in the picture?

#673 7 years ago

I have a gen 2 with the triangular lumes (teeth of the black monster!). I haven't worn it in quite a while but I like it. It came with a stainless bracelet that was pretty decent which I didn't see mentioned in the review.

I still have this "monster":

Seiko Superior Limited Edition SRP455 (Blue Monster) with the 4R36 movement (hacking and manual winding).

#678 7 years ago

oh I like that one a lot. Are there any watches you don't own? Would look great with a shark mesh strap I think.

What are the opinions on Squale? I was looking for something blue that wouldn't break the bank. Im also thinking about a Seiko blumo, but the Squale has the lighter blue that I really like

I like it. Squale has been around for a long time and have a very good reputation.

Did you adjust the clasp? Looks like you have one more notch there.

#686 7 years ago

Hi. Yes, I already did that. I still need at least one more link. Watch has been great though…keeping perfect time….
…and even though it looks excellent, I'm still taking it to my watch guy to clean, buff and check out. Maybe I'll put a black strap on it...

Just got this one for weekend wear. I'm hoping to warm up to it but it's really huge. Wears bigger than the monster

#698 7 years ago

Watchmaker checked it out, buffed up and said it's a great watch. Couldn't find a 22mm band I liked, so went with a rubber one. So far, it's pretty good, but I may eventually go the black sharkskin route.

Newest aquisition (through a trade). Ventus Caspian - Type B
Brass case (I plan on treating it with "brass ager" this weekend) Seiko Automatic, Sapphire Crystal. I'll have to try it on the included leather nato also.

As much as I love my watches, I feel bad that I never wear them. I can't wear them at work and they just sit in a case.

Hard feelings just keeping them couped up
