My experience with my own children and children that have visited my collection is that the idea of playing for points and a high score is not part of their gaming these days so they're not motivated by it.
I'm intrigued at what things like Stern Insider Connected will open, for giving people more ways to play instead of simply a high score.

I've experienced this more times than I can count. People are blown away by the machines and afraid to play them. It's almost like a recoil when you suggest they try it.

Otherwise if I show them Woz or JP etc I just tell them it’s too complicated and I’ll coach them to shoot the witch or to get the T-Rex to grab the ball. I don’t try to explain the whole game to them.
This is why Medieval Madness was always the favorite game of all visitors to my arcade. But I understand not every game can be fortunate to have such a toy.
