If anyone is interested, I have just published a short run of my teaser ‘zine for the book of photography I’ve shot and am editing.
It’s a work of journalism (I’m a photojournalist) that, and this might be of interest to you, captures location and competition pinball throughout 2019 up until the last week of league and tournament play.
Some of you may be following it on Instagram (@pinball.by.xtn). That’s me.
From NYC to Pinburgh to the EPC in Copenhagen to SF to Greece.
Eventually I will make it into a thicker volume, but I’m hundreds of hours away from that.
Keep in mind that this was shot editorial-style and therefore not intended to only appeal to Pinball players for commercial/profit means. The project was approached as if I were on assignment for Life Magazine or National Geographic. My photography is extremely artistic in the fashion of Robert Frank, Eddie Adams and, of course, James Hamilton (who shot Roger Sharpe’s book).
Anyway. The project reflects at least a thousand hours of work and at least one 12-hour motorcycle ride to Pinburgh in the middle of the night. I’d have to distribute 10,000 of these before I would break even. That being said, surplus funds from the sampler ‘zine (32 pages, premium paper) will go towards the eventual printing of a larger, comprehensive version.
DM me if you want one.
It’s really, really cool.
