    Holiday Greetings To All!

Just got back upstairs from playing my way through the collection tonight. Another year ending. Beatlemania giving me Holiday Call Outs. Flight 2000 kicking my teeth in. High Speed 2 reminding me why it is so amazing. The old Williams tables feeling every bit the old friends that they have become. So grateful for pinball in my life. So much fun and so many amazing times shared again this year with friends, flipping away between the showers of laughter and togetherness. I hope it has been the same for all of you.

So anyway, what are your Pinball New Year's Resolutions for 2023. I just made mine, which is:

Find myself a Gottleib Wedge Head. Gotta do it! 2023 is THE YEAR.

What are yours? Happy Holidays and all the best in the New Year to everyone!

    More temp trades less buy/sell/trade.

Finish projects without adding any new ones

    #6 3 months ago

Get serious about having that house built.

    #7 3 months ago

Resolutions are just lying to myself, so I don't make em anymore

    #8 3 months ago

Go play more. I will not miss camp silverball!

    #9 3 months ago

    Spend less on Pinball machines

    #10 3 months ago

    Finish some projects.

I'd like to finally get my stern dracula finished and out the door.

I need to repair the monitor chassis on my RFM and get that game back up and running.

    Less work, more pinball

    #12 3 months ago

    Interesting.

PTCR and EFL are out of the question.

If Keith Elwin's 007 looks good I'll look into trading my jjp Pirates LE for it.

    Hope to recover pool tables.

Long shot, get one of the big Stern Pinball Alley signs.

Sorry if this sounds like my 2023 Christmas wish list.

Finish the game room, wire in sound system and TVs. Buy first pin for game room.

    #14 3 months ago

Pay off my bills ,sell the house and move .

    #15 3 months ago

I thought long and hard about the idea of having 2023 be the year I finally purchase my first pin, but there are too many other things I'd rather spend 5k-9k on at the moment. At this point I'm not exactly sure when I plan on buying my first pin, but I have a feeling it might not be until my house is paid off in about 6-7 years. We'll see.

    #16 3 months ago

I (pending home inspections and other legalities) signed a contract on a house with a nice bigger basement just last week.

Plans in 2023 are to finish the basement and make one wicked game room down there. It's a totally full unfinished space with 9 foot ceilings, so it's a total blank slate. I'm really excited.

Fellow pinsider, your first pin purchase doesn’t need to be a SPIKE.
Consider the alternatives of system 11s, early solid states. EM’s are da shit if you get them from someone who knows how to maintain them.

    #18 3 months ago

Finally get around to installing all the mods I've purchased for my four games!

90% of my favorite pins are either 90s Bally/Williams machines or newer Stern tables. I think it's awesome that a lot of people on here are cool with owning just about any pin, but for me if I'm going to buy one, I'm only going to buy a game that I really, really like. I wish I was more into EM machines, but frankly most of them bore me pretty quick. Even at $1000 I still couldn't justify buying one. Again, I'm not knocking people who do like those older pins, they just aren't for me.

While not as convenient as having a basement filled with pins, I'm perfectly content with going to bars and arcades that have the pins I like to play until the time is right where I can purchase something like an Iron Maiden Premium or Attack from Mars. Even if that's nearly a decade down the road, that's fine by me.

Buy/sell/trade less games, just enjoy what I have currently

    #22 3 months ago

Well my list is VERY long as listed elsewhere.

Mostly work on the current projects and try to refrain from buying more projects.

They aren’t for everyone. They made so many chances are you’ll find more misses than hits. Having multiple helps as they won’t become centerpieces of your collection….likely.

    Stop eating!

More like stop drinking beer. It's give up something I love for something I hate. Life sucks in that regard.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

What was it you need to work on again, missed it?

Get my last EM Jumping Jack up and running. It is also the 1st EM I purchased back in 2008. I got it working great and then took it apart to restore it 5 years ago.

    #34 3 months ago

Hope to land a class of 1812

Also hope to get back to streaming on a much more regular basis.

    Happy new year!!

    Finish projects.
Don’t start a new project before finishing the last one. Case in point: was refurbishing a Williams Flash (clear coating the playfield, polishing parts, painting cabinet, etc) and when I was 95% done, I thought…what the heck, let’s do my first playfield swap on my WOZ. In the middle: I’ve also spend some time on day fixes on DH, BW, STTNG, and POTO.

Going to try and fix a few problems with games this year. Let's see... I have:

-Black Knight that keeps blowing the solenoid fuse
-Riverboat Gambler that keeps blowing the solenoid fuse and the drop targets don't work
-Totem that only boots up when the planets align
-Black Knight 2000 with a wiggly return ramp
-Jungle Queen that was forcibly decapitated and thrown in a dumpster, still needing a cleaning and all the cut wires spliced back together
-Undertale needing some code improvements before it goes back to MGC
-Swords of Fury looking ugly with the wrong style of side rails
-Shaq Attaq with a missing mech and a bunch of hacks to sort through
-Pinbot with missing sound effects and crappy quality in what does play
-Special Force awaiting time for a major upgrade project
    -Rollergames with dead upper GI
-Twilight Zone with dying gumball motor
-Volcano Blast! still needing me to finish the cabinet wiring, audio engine, and basically all of the software, along with still needing to finish the art
-Road Show but Red needs her broken jaw treated by a qualified surgeon
-Elvira with sticky boogie men and a missing blob plastic

.... that's... that's almost every game I own. Oh dear.

(Not pictured because I think they might be fully working: Arena, Spanish Eyes, and a really nice Big Guns that I will be picking up at MGC.)

My New Years resolution will be to get better at convincing Pinsiders to stop getting so sensitive about their interactions on here… stop asking mods to close/lock/ban etc… and in general to enjoy their little virtual scraps here.

Let it go people. Enjoy each other’s shenanigans!

    #38 3 months ago

Spend less time on Pinside and play more pinball instead.

This all day. 3 to 4 months maybe upto 6. But say yes to the temp trade

    #40 3 months ago

Complete my TAF CPR Gold PF swap

    Same with Harlem Globetrotters

    Awaiting F14 PF from Peter

    Prolly sell a game

Keep saving towards a house I plan to purchase/have built upon retirement from active duty (2029).

    #41 3 months ago

I've reduced my 5-day working week to a 4-day working week, which allows me more time to create more amazing pinball experiences.

    #42 3 months ago

Try to spruce up my current pinball machines to make them nicer.
-Replace playfield glass on 2 or 3 machines.
-Add lighting and LED pop bumper caps to High Speed.
-Fix the speech distortion on Flight 2000.
-Paint the base cabinet of Card Whiz.
-Tumble and ultrasonic clean parts on El Dorado, Fireball, and Time Zone.
-Attempt to add a wave trigger board and switches to Time Zone so it will play the Time Tunnel TV show theme music.
-Sell Card Whiz and purchase another cheap System 11 machine or DMD.

    #43 3 months ago

My new years resolution is doing less new ramp projects and more non-pinball stuff with my free time. I hit it quite hard the last two years with 60+ new ramps/products, so it is time to kick it back a gear. I need to keep things balanced or I will get tired of Pinball as a whole. I also began using Pinside about 75% less starting last summer, and I have not missed it.

    #44 3 months ago

Dry January for pinheads = no restarts for 1 month

    #45 3 months ago

I will abstain from GWJ threads.

    #46 3 months ago

Not buying rediculous priced NIB this year.

    #47 3 months ago

    Happy new year!
