Gday Guys,
Maybe a bit late joining the magic show here.

Pick up PM a few mouths ago in bad shape in Bisbane.
Had been sitting a shed for 3 years, was a non worker.
Had the CPU board fix by Jomac in Perth.

Had a few opto problems, non working display, no sound.
Just replace the opto and fix that problem!
Still no sound or display.
Had a few games as is,
Missing a few parts, Trunk cover, right lower ball guide the one that covers opto board at the ball though, and the stage doors.Back glass. Also needs a new hat.
But still a very good pickup an a very cool game.
Would very much like to get hold of the right lower ball guide if you guys seen one any where?

Is there any way to trun off ball saver ?
If I dont shot the fist ball out of the lane the game starts to look for it then after a time kicks the next ball out in to the lane. In the end all 3 ball in the shotting lane. And the game still looking for the balls

#502 7 years ago
Quoted from SilverUnicorn:

This sounds like the lane switch is not registering to me.
Chris

Your right.
In the Diagmostics the switch is not showing up as working.
The switch works testing with the meter. Wire trace to board is ok. Think I got it theres a lose ground wire bit more down on the board.
Ok fix! Ground wire from lane swich go's to presto change-o swich had come off.

Theres one thing I alway think about when I open the back box, Has any one ever had problems with the power board with those 6 big caps hanging out there?

#728 6 years ago
Quoted from CraZyMuffin:

Hey guys, I am looking to create a 12v/5v power tap with standard 3-pin mod plugs for Pinball Magic and other similar Capcom machines, however I don't have one myself I can test with.
After looking through the schematics, it looks like the only easy place to pull both 5v and 12v from a board connector is the "Display Power Supply Board" A0015502 (possibly B001552 or A001553 or maybe others).
The downside is this connector also shows some of the pins are high voltage, so care needs to be taken that the power is off when installing the mod or messing with this connector.
Before I make up a power tap for this, I would like to confirm that I am reading the schematics right and there will be 5v and 12v in the pins I expect.
Is there anyone here comfortable testing some pin voltages with a multimeter? After the board is made, I will send you one for free so you can test again to make sure my power tap provides the correct voltages to the mod plug. Ideally I am looking for someone with multiple Capcom machines they can test my power tap in, I will provide a free power tap for each! (but not necessary)
PM me for more details. Thanks!

On the pinball Magic power board I believe not all the 12v/5v pin are used up. So may a good place for create a 12v/5v power tap

Quoted from DMC:

Todd from TNT Amusements always says to put a big old cable tie around them to hold them firmly in place. I think they even pack something between them.

I look it up on youtube. I seen some of TNT videos he give some good info. Don't remember seeing pinball magic one tho.

Quoted from TheLaw:

You can use Williams opto boards i believe. That wire doesn;t even look attached to the lead....did you try resoldering them?
"Replacement Capcom Optos.
Williams optos (receiver and transmitter) work well in Capcom games. It may be necessary to replace both the receiver and transmitter, but I am not sure about that. See the WPC repair guide for more information on Williams optos. Capcom used the T1 3/4 type LED style optos, as Williams used in their ball troughs. "
More info if you didn't already read...there's an opto section
http://www.pinrepair.com/capcom/

RTBB has the capcom opto

#1242 5 years ago
Quoted from PinballManiac40:

You would have to test voltage at the DMD or the output connector of the power board to know. That is the first possibility. You need the 62v also, not just the -112v and -100v.

DMD Power boards is good, even tested with a spare backup DMD power board.
That leaves the ribbon, DMD or CPU.

Just as I was about to post this, I look up and it was working!
Happy it,s working just dont like not knowing why.

#1247 5 years ago

measure of the voltage is correct on both DMD power boards I have.
Will keep in mind the about the C2 cap.
It played up later and press on the ribbon cable and felt a clip and all was good again.
Ribbon cable end was flakey.

Maybe LM339 on switch board ??? Any help appreciated just want to fix it and get rid of it

Quoted from DMC:

Hey guys my red flasher at the back isn’t working. I’ve changed the bulb and socket with no luck. I unplugged connector from below the bulb and even stuck bulb wires in there to see if it would flash. No luck. There’s a second bulb on the backbox that flashes with the test (Solenoid 24/J21 on the driver board) so I’m wondering does that mean the power flow is good from the board? My j20 and j21 connectors are swapped compared with the manual but I’m guessing they’re both the same and it doesn’t matter? Any help would be great.
[quoted image]

There both the same.
1, is for the back box flashers and the second for the playfeld flasher
Just push that wire in to that shity plug a bit more !

#1444 5 years ago
Quoted from Axl:

Not at all fan of the Mezelmod stuff with the print lines from the 3D printer.
Without them, it would have looked good.

To what I had it's 100% improvement to not having a trunk at all.
It looks and seems stong.
If thay gave a little more sanding those line may not be there and with the more work there be more cost.
I happy with it. I dont wont to be paying a too much more for a plastic box.

#1447 5 years ago
Quoted from DMC:

Same for me too. A few hours of troubleshooting at the flasher end. But just repunched the connector as well and all fixed.

I have 5 extra sets so if anyone is interested in a back up set for when theirs inevitably breaks then let me know. $40USD shipping included for a set.

I made a set out of white plasic that where a bit thicker thay Would work good out of the playfeld but ones installed in just keep jamming up every time. !
Removed from the playfeld and it would work without missing a beat in test. Reinstalled and jams!
I removed and test and replaced over 20 times. Every time the same. So I gave up. if you get them working I be happy to get a set off you.
