    Who's going? Any Comments?

    Quoted from Wildbill327:

I'm going, not sure if I'm going to dress up but can't wait to flip until my fingers blister

Just don't yell "I'VE GOT BLISTERS ON MY FINGERS" late on Sunday afternoon.

    Quoted from Beyndtstng:

Is this basically the same as arcade expo? What are the closest accommodations for this? Are restaurants close by?

There are lots of fast food and restaurant locations near by just to the west, as well as hotels (unfortunately, the Quality Inn up the road caught fire last month, so it's not an option).

    Quoted from pumpkinlad:

At $300 a night for their cheapest room on these dates, I would hope no one is booking this place.
There are a ton of decent hotels in Banning that can be had for closer to $100 a night that are just as close.

Not to mention getting into their lot is a pain in the ass. I tried to go there last year after expo and the parking lot was packed.
And the traffic around the In 'n Out at the entry was awful. I've never seen a line as long as the one there.

    Quoted from Beyndtstng:

Would you guys mind listing some of these hotels that are close by? We are looking not to rent a car and uber if possible. Thank you

Here's a list of what's available in the Beaumont / Banning area (minus the Quality inn that suffered a fire a few weeks ago):

    Quoted from Beyndtstng:

Thank you, which would you recommend for proximity?

First choice would have been the Quality inn, but...
The only other hotel I've stayed at is the Travel Lodge (next door to the Quality inn). The Quality Inn was a bit nicer, but the Travel Lodge is fine. They are both just a short distance from the Arcade Expo location.

Can anyone else who booked a hotel for Expo before pop in and give any other recommendations?

Some of the Volunteers (from June) on a tech day:IMG_0786 (resized).JPGIMG_0786 (resized).JPG

... and on a "busy" day you might actually see a small plane take off or land there.

    Quoted from cosmokramer:

... You are close by, any interest on helping out? You could meet us at my place and carpool, we are heading out next Sunday for tech day. Hell I will even swing by in the morning and pick you up if needed..
I bet you and I could level the entire row(s) of eatly SS games in one day making them much less floaty and better playing.
We could use help from anybody who is interested...

Glad to see other fellow Pinsiders offering to help on the tech days.

    Quoted from PinballSTAR:

Sent this to Chuck personally - but might as well ask the masses too... I'm thinking about doing Pinball Madness... might make it an escape weekend with my wife - I see how close it is to Palm Springs - any really nice resort places you can recommend there that maybe will help 'justify' a pinball trip to CA with my wife ? lol... you know what I'm getting at... Hey honey, let's go to a fancy Palm Springs resort to get pampered and OMG, will you look at that, there's a pinball show like 30 minutes away - wow, what a co-incidence ! lmao.... She'll know why she's going but I figured maybe take a weekend, see the museum for 1/2 the time and let her have her fun escape the other 1/2... Suggestions ?

Just 5 miles east of the Pinball Madness location is Morongo Casino and Resort Spas. And if your wife is interested in shopping, between the Banning location and Morongo is The Cabazon Premium outlets. Both are closer than Palm Springs (but Palm Springs isn't terribly far away).

    Quoted from Azmodeus:

i stayed minutes from banning cheaply. there was a nice hole in the wall breakfast place but good, too. both were right by smart and final.

Was that the Holiday Inn located across the street from Smart & Final? (asking because I'm looking around for a place to stay during Pinball Madness).

    #58 6 years ago
    Quoted from Azmodeus:

Yes that sounds right. Sorry it was the first banning I went and I to and I was super sick. My doctor said I was not contagious so I went. I didn't want to miss the first arcade expo.
I unloaded on cold products to try to stay standing, at smart and final. The restaurant across the street from smart and final was cozy type food. Seemed to be a local favorite.
The room was fine, we were barely there. It was moments from the expo.

    It looks promising.

    Quoted from Pinzzz:

How is Banning CA doing in regards to air quality? i.e. wildfires in northern CA

The fire up north are almost 500 miles away. I doubt they're having much of an effect. But the fire in Anahiem hills might be providing some problems though.

This was Monday afternoon, and I'm 20 miles NW of where the fire.

Went there yesterday, and the air quality was fine, but it was a bit windy though.

    Quoted from cosmokramer:

Air quality was great yesterday, it would be a shame to miss it if you didnt have too...
I took this photo at about noon yesterday just above the pinball museum...in fact you could see the museum from where I was standing, air quality was not a problem...

I heard on the news there's a fir in Perris today. How is the air quality out that way today?

    Quoted from Azmodeus:

You know there will probably be a couple gems in the auction coming up.

There's at least one Stern Electronics pin that'll get some attention (and it's not the Catacombs).

    #103 6 years ago
    Quoted from cosmokramer:

From what I understand, there is a Pinball Magic in the lot
    ...but its a basket case

    Cabinet is pretty much destroyed.
