My uncle was a small route operator back in the 70's, and is more than anyone else, responsible for me being a pinball geek today. He operated pinball machines in the early 70's around Mt. Pleasant MI, and used the proceeds to pay his way through college.
When he was finished with college, he shut his route down and stored some of his machines in my parents basement. It is during this time I became enamored with the silver ball.
Uncle Don has enjoyed watching my descent into the realm of pinball collecting, and is proud that he had a hand in starting my journey. I actually still own one of the games he left with my parents.
While he was visiting me a year ago, he told me he had a Gottlieb machine stored no so far away from me and that he would be happy to give it to me, but the logistics of getting it might be tricky.
Well, it got moved around a few times, but yesterday I got the call to pick it up. It has been in storage since 2000.
What I picked up was a gem. the glass was covered in an inch of dust, but under the dirt, is a quite nice 1977 Mustang. I took these pics before doing anything to the game. It had a start up issue, but that was easily fixed and it's working find now.
This is a game that will be with me for as long as I am able to own pinball machines.
