Woke up this morning all smiles prepared to take a trip up to the Catskills to pick up a Dr Dude for 700. I spoke with the owner, (John,) twice on Friday at length and he was holding the pin for me at his mom's to pick up on Saturday morning. The seller was supposed to shoot me one final pic of the mpu board at 8am and then I was going to head on up. By the time 10:30 rolled around I decided to call to see what happened. He picked up right away and when I asked why I never received the pic he said "I'm confused, you're Chris who came up from Long Island this morning? I just sold the machine to you? Is there a problem?"

Well turns out a couple of classless clowns showed up at John's mom's this morning and posed as me when the seller pulled up to his mom 's to take the pic. He saw a NY area code when they called and assumed it was me. He then asked them, "Are you Chris who drove up from Long Island?" They said oh yes it was a nice drive, even though their area code was 845. John and I spoke for over a 30mins the day before so he asked, I bet your nephew is excited about getting the pin and they told him oh yes he can't wait. He again thought it was me when the guy's 1st concern was looking at the batteries on the mpu. When John put 2 and 2 together he was embarrassed and kept explaining to me why he thought they were me. John couldn't have been more apologetic and shared the # the a$$ hats used with me. Never once have I ever stepped on someone's deal on the phone or in person. Shame on you two!

I'm sure both clowns laughed all the way back to their place but I must thank them. If not for their classless move I would have been on the road on the way up to the Catskills instead of picking up this bad boy less than 15minutes from my house!! This was one of my target pins and I found it 5 mins after it was posted. Guy owned it for a decade bought from the dealer that used to be next to Babylon bowling lanes. Everything works, perfect dmd, perfect apron, the playfield is great with no wear by the three holes. The cabinet is solid with a couple of the scratches and piece of wood chipped off in the back. She could use a good cleaning , a new playfield window and the rails need to be re plated but other than that the boards and connectors look great. Thanks classless clowns! Hope karma brings you exactly what you deserve.

Thanks Sinistarrett, I would have understood if the guys would have been honest and told John that they were another interested party. It's the sellers pin and he's going to choose to sell to whomever, but John stressed that he wasn't looking for more money or to get rid of it faster. Regardless I was rewarded in the end.

Quoted from herbertbsharp:

But that sellers dr dude story sounds like total bullshit to me.

I automatically thought the same thing 2 sentences into the conversation. How do you not notice that the # that called you this morning wasn't in your phone log yet? I told him that I understand that these things happen on craigslist and it's ok to admit that someone locally offered more money. He insisted that he thought it was me and kept trying to describe the interaction to let me know he asked them questions and he thought he was dealing with me. His reaction sounded very genuine and he ended with the sentiment that now that he spoke with me he felt strange knowing he was dealing with 2 total strangers in his mom's house. I laughed and reminded him that we're all strangers until we meet.

Quoted from azpinguy:

Can I ask how much was the congo? Was it a great deal too?

I picked her up for a little less than 3k and as much as I love a roadtrip nothing beats picking up a pin that's right in your backyard. I've driven as far as Lake Erie for a target pin so it was great getting back home within the hour.

Quoted from scottslash:

May Karma be a merciless bitch on their sorry lives.

Preach Scott!

Quoted from WaddleJrJr:

Excellent ending to that story! Things always seem to work out in weird ways.

Quoted from ianwho:

I'm glad to hear it.

Quoted from JosiahCox:

Glad it worked out for you!

Thanks guys, I also have to give props to whoever brought the Congos to the Allentown show 2yrs ago and this last show. You inspired me to start looking for one since I had such fun playing yours at the show.

Lol, too busy playing her and then I went back to my Funhouse project. I'll go edit my collection now.

I never accused Greg. Again like I said in the Centaur thread I never had a problem with Greg. He was not the one that was described by John the owner of the Dr. Dude who gave me a good description of the 2 people who impersonated me..
