Many innovations have evolved the game, but the ball remains

How about a ceramic? Ball with a magnetic core......

The under PF push/pull effects on that sucker would be crazy!

Magnets could levitate the ball around

Vertical Upkicks with no mechs, just a flush finished magnet in
the PF that "repells" the ball working in unison with an overhead
    magnet that "attracts" from above.....

The possibilities are endless for designers like jPop!

    What other ideas pinsiders?

There are those kiddie balls that upon contact light up with an led inside. Now that would be wicked cool.

+1 LED balls would be awesome.

Love this idea! If they could get the weight to compare with that of an actual steel pinball so you don't lose that feel....man o man o man o man o man.

The ball light would be cool if, by induction under the PF,
its illumination could be controlled by the programmer...

I think we could call these "innovative" high tech rollers i-balls!

yeah changing the ball would look good but at the same time the physics would likely change which could lessen the experience for the player. This can be seen in the perspex playfield that Zaccaria (not sure of spelling) designed.

How about different colored pinballs...Red, Green, Yellow Etc.

Interflip did the full perspex PF on Dragon

the ball physics will be determined by size & weight

the PF physics varies greatly from game to game relative
to dirt, wax, rubber condition & composition, flipper bat angle,
PF inclination, coil strength & flipper mech condition.....

Zaccaria did the first real 2nd level PF in Pinball Champ 82,
you are one the ball there RGR if thats what you meant!

The PF physics there was designed to complement a steel
ball, so future designs with new balls will take their properties
    into account

the "powerball" in TZ has a hard task to act the same on
    a PF designed for steel

    cheers
