Watched a cheesy 1-hour 2019 REELZ channel 'documentary' about Eddie Murphy's ups and downs, one of those where they hire untalented no-name similar-looking actors to portray the star and the other real people. The fake Eddie is shown playing one of two pinballs in his mansion's game room, couldn't really identify them other than one was maybe a Williams Fire, something like that. But I couldn't find anything about Eddie being into pinball so maybe they just used dramatic license as it was when they were talking about him being lonely and having insomnia. For all I know that game room has been in a dozen other documentaries they made about other troubled celebrities.

Here's an oldie, from the 1950 noire "Quicksand". It's a pretty good flick where Mickey Rooney is an auto mechanic who soon resorts to being a low-down criminal. While he's burglarizing the arcade the cops see him and shoot the place up but they miss this pin. Can anybody id the game?

1988 TV movie "In the Line of Duty: The FBI Murders" with David Soul, Michael Gross and Ronnie Cox, I still remember watching it on TV back then because it had a small sub-plot where these two murderers tried out being pinball machine operators but it doesn't work out cuz the games were all flaky. Soul kicks over an Eight Ball Deluxe and destroys it when he gets fed up, and a little later he sticks a gun in the face of the guy who sold them the business (who has more pins laying around in his front yard) and says "We're not interested in your pinball machines anymore." I loved that line. Pretty good movie too from what I remember, Soul is a real mean and creepy SOB in it. Found it on youtube, pinball stuff starts at 10:00 mark to about 13:30. Look for the higher rez version. He kicks a Rolling Stones pin too, Mick wouldn't like that!

Quoted from jibmums:

I see a Mars God of War, Flash Gordon, probably the same Eight Ball Deluxe and Rolling Stones as earlier, and a couple others I can't identify in op's front yard. How that EBD backglass didn't break when the machine was kicked over is a mystery.

Playfield glass doesn't break either, hopefully that EBD survived beyond the movie. They used the typical lazy Hollywood technique where the guy shoots the ball into play and you can hear it rolling around but it's obvious the damn thing is still in attract mode.

Anybody recognize the orange-ish game behind the EBD in the pic? Looks like a Gottlieb?

Quoted from PinMonk:

Any idea what episode this is?

Isn't that inside the Boar's Nest on 'Dukes of Hazzard'? Pretty sure there were quite a few episodes featuring scenes in that dive, with that pin in the background.

Saw a nostalgia-oriented public service anti-smoking TV commercial about getting your lungs screened and it included a little snippet of folks playing pins in the 70s. You can see it on Screenyourlungs.org front page too. But it was almost like they were lumping the perfectly harmless vice of pinball in with cigarettes, roller-discoing in the middle of the street and driving without a seatbelt. XD

A closeup shot in an arcade from the 70's series "Harry O" starring David Janssen. Can anybody ID the game? The center bumper spins.

That was a freaking good private eye series by the way, still is.

Strange one I caught last night on a rerun of ‘The District’:
1. A methed-up freak goes berserk playing a Wms. Big Deal and smashes the backglass with his fist.
2. Except he actually only breaks a sheet of clear stage glass they'd mounted in front of it, the bg (if it is one) isn’t damaged.
3. It's a Big Deal machine alright and they kept the title, but they totally changed the bg art. It's dreadful, too.
4. After all that effort they put in, not five seconds later he topples over the machine and the head is smashed open.
5. Good news is the scene began with the usual Hollywood background EM chimes in the bar so they finally got it right for once.

2003's "Pact With the Devil" starring Malcolm McDowell. The main dude in the movie has a Getaway pin in his cool pad full of exercise equipment and a jukebox etc. Only watched it for a couple of minutes but the machine was in several shots, maybe he even plays it, I dunno.

** found a better pic of the game when I skipped thru the movie on Freevee to see if the game is in it more. He's a 'pretty boy' type of character and I didn't see him play the game - he just has a photographer chick come over and snap a few shots of him posing with it, oh brother what a fraud. Also it was noted that the date was supposed to be 1990 in the scene, but the game wouldn't be built for another two years.

Quoted from girloveswaffles:

Yes. Galaxy and Meteor. That Galaxy has been in many T.V. shows, and I posted a picture of the same Meteor from an episode of Dreamcorp LLC on Adult Swim a couple of years ago:

At this point that Galaxy deserves it's own topic!

Never saw a backglass that was modified two times for two different shows!

From the "Mel's Happy Burger" episode of 'Alice', she rehearses on a TV stage for a commercial. I think that's a Williams 'Lucky Ace' back there.

'THX 1138' had no pinballs in it but the mainframe computer seemed to be having a major problem given what was showing on its display.
