Someone may have mentioned this, but in the movie "They Came Together" Paul Rudd's character has a Williams Olympic Hockey in his apartment.

Watching the movie "Dust Devil" and there's a Four Aces machine in the bar scene.

Probably mentioned already but just now I'm watching The Thing. Haven't bothered to look of this is a real game or not.

I enjoy the irony of "Heatwave" in The Thing's arctic station and a "Universe" in The Theory of Everything. It's set designers having fun.

This might be the next machine from Jersey Jack.

Spotted some machines in the opening scenes of Ash vs. The Evil Dead! They're out of focus, so I can't really tell what they are.

Maybe be a 1st Edition Harley Davidson?

Quoted from TheLaw:

Weird just saw 2 in 2 days.
Goldbergs last night had King Rock & something else
CW "Originals" (I think) had Stryker eXtereme...always love them royalty free chime files

I noticed that on The Goldbergs too - I think it was a 1972 Gottlieb World Series.
A lot of that episode was set in a 1980's-era arcade, so I was hoping to see more.

Quoted from John_I:

Southpark
» YouTube video

Never noticed that it's a Howard the Duck pin.

For those who don't know, this is a parody of the famous scene in "The Accused," which used a Space Invaders machine, rethemed with original basketball artwork as Slamdunk.

Quoted from Insane:

Saw Deadpool last night. Thumbs up, NOT for kids. There are a couple of Gottliebs in it. Unfortunately i'm not good at quick identification. I saw the coin door on one and saw the sticker so i knew gottlieb, then during the credits, they reference gottlieb.

I also noticed in the credits - "special thanks to D. Gottlieb & Co."

A playfield glass got smashed in a fight scene, but the cabinet was covered up and I couldn't make out a title.

Has someone mentioned the pin in The Big Short? A corner of the cabinet is shown for about two seconds, but I think it might be a Stern Stars.

The pin was in 1996, not 2374. The ship and crew went back in time.

Probably one of those upcoming FTr's I've heard about.

There are a few in Jaws 2 - one is a Four Queens, but I can't make out the rest. Maybe a Spanish Eyes?

Not really a sighting, but I noticed a fun reference on MST3K. On the episode "The Beatniks" there's a billiard-themed Invention Exchange and Tom Servo says "Eight Ball Deluxe! Quit talkin' and start chalkin'."

Either that arcade has two Addams Familys or they rearranged the set to shoot the reverse angle on the kid.

4 Million BC spotted in this week's episode of Timeless.

#592 7 years ago
Quoted from Darcy:

There is also a pin in the bar scene, it is in the background, out of focus. This is the second Timeless episode with pins on screen. Some one on the show likes them. The series is filmed in Vancouver.

BTW - 4 Million BC in a time travel show? They not only like pins, they're having fun with their job!

Grease 2 (which is set in 1961) has a bowling alley scene with a Travel Time (1973), Drop A Card (1971), El Toro (1970), and at least two others in the deep background that I can't make out.

2 months later
#643 7 years ago

Timeless episode, 'Karma Chameleon' airing tonight. Another pin in the bar scene. An multi player EM game. There are many different shots of it in the background.

Quoted from SonicZone:

"Five Easy Pieces" (1970) - Got 3 of the 5 pictured:
Far Left: Cover Girl (Gottlieb, 1962)
Middle: Lucky Strike (Williams, 1965; I -think- its ball-in-play score reel is on that backglass, if not then it's the Bowl-A-Strike AAB)
Far Right: North Star (Gottlieb, 1964)
I'll let you all ID the other two...[quoted image]

Middle left looks like a Williams 1975 Little Chief.

Ed: never mind! Little Chief wouldn't come out for another 5 years! Middle left could be a 1964 Williams Soccer. Middle right could be Zig Zag/Wing Ding (also Williams '64)?

#2106 3 years ago
Quoted from pinwiztom:

I think TopMoose is correct about ZigZag (or Wing Ding)
definitely a reverse wedgehead, score reel placement match up and colors on BG make sense.
not that many reverse wedgeheads to contradict .

#2230 3 years ago

I see that the Night Rider in Spaceballs' diner scene has been mentioned, but I'm not sure if anyone caught the Space Invaders in Lonestar's Winnebago. That cockpit is deceptively large to hold a Bally widebody!

20200703_185447_resized (resized).jpg20200703_185447_resized (resized).jpg

BTW: It's not a re-theme. The "Spaceballs" logo came up on screen when I paused the movie and just happened to be centered on the backglass in this frame.

That's anachronistic. Stranger Things is set in 1983, 84 and 85 and Laser War was released in 1987. Maybe it was the earliest game Stern had the rights to show?

#2257 3 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

That's nothing. On Happy Days, they were able to transport a Space Time from another time and space. Fonzie must have been the original Bally table king

Quoted from koen12344:

In the trailer for the upcoming movie "Nobody" (around 2:00)

Not sure what game it is
[quoted image][quoted image]

This one is really bothering me.

The cabinet looks like a late 70's/early 80s style and the playfield has Williams-style triangle arrow inserts, but I cannot find any such games with werewolf side art or even a monster theme from that era. It looks like there are four targets in the center playfield that spell "WOLF," but if this is a re-theme, I can't find a game that looks like that. It looks like the inlanes and outlanes also spell WOLF.

Could it be a rare Zaccharia, Segasa or other European manufacturer that I'm overlooking?

#2548 3 years ago
Quoted from pzy:

It must be a re-theme, I don't think there's any machine with a werewolf on the side
Edit: The rule card says "Revenge of" something, but that could be customized too

I think you're right, but now the question is: what's it a re-theme of?

BTW, shout out to the set designers. A werewolf-themed game is the perfect choice for a character with a deadly alter ego.

Just started Tanner '88 today after watching a Charlie Rose interview with Robert Altman. This pin was the star of the opening credit role in episode two. Surprised this show slipped through especially being a big Altman fan. It sure feels 'Altmanesque' as they say.

I think that’s a Lost World Jurassic Park, rather than a Godzilla.

New movie Nobody a pin is actually part of the movie not just In it. I couldn’t put my finger on that it was off the top of my head. Hutch keeps his stash of goodies inside the pin and the camera angle is from inside the cab looking towards coin door as he grabs it. I thought I knew what it was from cabinet but the the backglass didn’t match for me initiallly. Now I’m searching pins and I’m dumb

I was getting ready for the next HDTGM podcast by watching The Visitor (1979) when I spotted a Lucky Seven in the demon girl's living room. Also, it's hard to tell in this screenshot, but the kid in the foreground is playing a Mata Hari.

I love it, but I love it more when the prop is era correct. That 1960 Spot-a-Card is showing up in MASH which takes place during the Korean War (1950-1953).
Then there's Bally's "Nip It" from 1973 that is frequently seen in the sitcom Happy Days which takes place during the 50's and early 60's.

Or The Waltons, which is set in the 1930's and 40's but the General Store has a 1972 Flying Carpet.

The best is when the pin is appropriate or ironic for the setting, like the Heat Wave machine at the arctic station in The Thing.

Quoted from Deverezieaux:

I love me some Giallo too so I gave myself homework to watch NY Ripper, but I had a couple slightly different answers for that scene. Shudder has a very high quality version of the movie:
I got 4 as:
Playmatic Jolly Ride. I didn't capture it here, but there's a shot where you can see "Jolly Ride" on the backglass.
Gottleib Pioneer I thought this was Spirit of '76, but that's 4 player.
Gottleib Mustang (I think it's Mustang because I only see 2 player scores, I think Bronco is 4 player)
I did also get Night Rider, but couldn't nail down the 5th one. I think that's the one you had as Old Chicago?[quoted image]

Roller Coaster’s cabinet has orange stripes, like in the photo. Jolly Park’s cabinet has blue diamonds.

Mustang is the 2-player version of Bronco. It looks like there are fewer score reels so I think you’re right about that one.

#3234 2 years ago
Quoted from Deverezieaux:

I was able to go back and get a shot of the backglass and a bit of the side, but it's mostly blocked by Pioneer. It's the single player Jolly Ride, it has stripes and arrows on it, the arrows are just covered up.[quoted image]

Interesting! I did a little more digging in the IPDB and it looks like the 1-player Jolly Ride was made with blue diamonds while the 2 and 4-players have orange stripes, like Roller Coaster. Could this be a 1-player game in a 4-player cabinet? Or a 1-player game re-painted with the 4-player stencil?
